We are One

I’m Looking Forward To It

How do you cope with daily living? I mean the day to day, same o’, same ole routine. It can be a real drag. Humans require variety, some call it spice. For me, I create things to look forward to. Literally using the future to handle my present. We have all done it, planning a big vacation or even a weekend get away. The next big win for our “team” for the sports lovers or the next big project for the hobbyist and the next big job for builders and tinkerers. So what does all this actually get us?

It gets us to the next vaca, win, project, or big job. And actually it just allows us to occupy time. It gets us from one Now to the next. The cycle never ends. Even after you pass, the planning continues! I mean we have to have a funeral or at least a memorial or wake. In my family we call it a Celebration of Life. Our lives are event driven! So what happens if we drop the circumstance and forgo the planning? What if we skip the “looking forward” bit?

No worries, I have tried that too. It is fun at first, but then after a while it all just seems pointless. Probably because it is. We are distracting ourselves from ourselves. We desperately fear looking too deep at who we are. We fear God. It’s that simple. Most people think we fear sin or judgment, but that is just more distraction. Stop for a minute and notice how you feel, deep within. What does it mean to look within? Say you decided it was a good idea to look within and discover your own inner secrets, how would you go about that? Most people try meditation at some point on this road and it too works, for a while, till it doesn’t. This so far for me has been the story of my life. It works, till it doesn’t. Life is a wild goose chase! I have discovered that looking within is very difficult because our ego mind simply will not allow it. It knows there is nothing to see. It is like looking behind the curtain in the Wizard of Oz, a big let down.

Stop looking and you will find what you seek. No clicking of heals required. Know there is nothing to find, so just relax and enjoy the ride. Easier said than done, I grant you that, but possible. Stop with the distractions and relax. All is well.

String Theory

Life is a memory for all possibilities have already occurred. This is the nature of time and space! This is the power of God. The “I” you identify with is traveling down a string of possibility as you live and dream vibrations are released vibrating the strings. Each decision shifts you to a different string, if focused and harmonized each thought does too. Your life is a bundle of strings and with enough harmonized focused energy you can move to a different bundle, though this is exceedingly rare. Thoughts are repeated over and over thus holding you to your string or at least your bundle. Family and friends are there too, and though they can change paths as well this often does not happen. A family who dines together stays together rings true here, both metaphysically and literally.

Know the people in your life are not individuals per se, but archetypes which you attract through your thoughts.  Our friends and family too, exist as catalyst, potentiation, and significator. Read this book (An-Archetype-Workbook.PDF) for a better understanding of archetypes.  They say the bible is written in metaphor and perhaps our very lives are too!  Remember there is no “out there” out there.

Meditation opens up the path for review. Silence is the window! Be with yourself and feel gratitude! There is no blame for being on a particular string other than your own thoughts, choices, and actions. Make peace with this. Its all good, for we each are exactly where we need to be. Eventually we will know all the strings like a master violinist! Enjoy the ride so to speak. We are not here to control the path but to observe the relationships and know our contribution in what we call life. I am not part of it, I am all of it. I am not this person I think of (your name). I am all of it. I am not my family, my friends, my pets, my anything… I am ALL OF IT. Re-membering. I am not even God, because our view and understanding of God is too limiting. Let go …

Healthy Living Guide

We all hear what we should be doing to stay healthy every day and from a multitude of sources.  Who do you trust?  Is it “mother knows best”?  Sometimes, so let me share with you what I have discerned over the years from all this “advice”.  I will share this in a bullet format for easier navigation and retention.

  • Learn to listen to your inner guidance or intuition. In ACIM they call it the “Voice for God”.  No matter what you call it, know the difference between your ego voice or little-self speaking to you and your higher or God-self speaking.  If you are interested in learning more about this contact me, I can help.
  • Think Healthy! The power of the mind is not to be underestimated.   The life you live follows this format, Thoughts – Words – Action.  First you accept a thought (not all thoughts come from you, so whatever you accept then becomes yours), then you share it with others who either support it or not, then you take action on this thought and it becomes your reality.  Obviously this is a very simplistic explanation, but this basic understanding is vital to making positive changes in your life, changes you actually desire.
  • Meditate! Meditate! Meditate! Make meditation a daily conscious practice.  Everyone meditates unconsciously every day and this keeps them in the groove where they are.  So if you wish to rise out of that groove, to learn and grow, conscious meditation is crucial.  Several ways to do this and I talk about this in my eBook, Methods of Raising Our Energy, a free download from my website.
  • Exercise is what firms the body. It does not have to be complicated or difficult, but the more you move the stronger the body becomes… to a point, anything can be taken to excess.  Take the stairs always and everywhere, stay active at home, and walk instead of drive whenever you can.  Do stretching exercises and isometrics when you are at your desk or watching TV.  None of this is formal exercising, so you can do that too if you desire.
  • Consume life in moderation. Meaning all the things humans do which comprise life, eating, drinking, sex, sports, hobbies, etc.  Be conscious of what you are participating in.  Question everything!  Just because someone is an expert or a family member or a friend does not mean they know what is best for you.  All they can do is speak for themselves.  Don’t allow yourself to be caught in the flow or tide of mass action.  Just because others are doing it does not make it good for you.  This goes back to intuition, listen to your inner voice before any others.
  • Stick to natural foods, the less processing the better. (Junk food: food that has low nutritional value, typically produced in the form of packaged foods needing little or no preparation.) The healthiest diet known to mankind is a Raw Food diet. I know this can be difficult in our present society so do some research and do the best you can.  Learn about the alkalinity of foods, the less acid the better. (This is just a blog, but if you have questions please ask)  In our modern day society we have destroyed the nutrients in our food and modified others so much they are no longer healthy to eat.  Gluten foods, wheat, barley, rye, and oats should be eliminated from your diet.  This video explains it nicely: http://youtu.be/x5gXRFfMS3g.
  • Fasting and detoxification should be done on a regular basis. I do a 12hr fast every day and a three day fast once or twice a year.  The detox can be done at the same time when you supplement with organic apple juice.  There are many programs out there to detox so research this and choose something which you feel is do-able.  It is scary at first, then you realize how good it feels when you are done and it gets easier the next time.  This practice aligns with the Law of Rhythm and promotes good health.
  • Food is nutrition, not pleasure. Understand that eating can be enjoyable, but this is not its purpose.  Remember this and accept that some things which are good for you nutritionally do not necessarily taste good, eat them anyway.  Eat foods by color and as they say, “eat the rainbow”.  If all your food is one color; then you are out of balance.  Eating can be a meditation or at least a conscious act to feed the body and soul.  Think positively about your food, say grace, and be grateful for the energy this food brings to you.

This is the short list as this could easily be a book.  I have provided a few links to make researching a little easier.  Every question has an answer, so just relax and ask questions while being open to the answer, it may not be what you want to hear.

Silence

The possession of God is the silence of the heart. The thought of God is the silence of the mind. ~Mother Mary of St Austin

Chapter 6 from the eBook, Methods of Raising Our Energy, The following chapter discusses Silence as a tool for not only Spiritual Enlightenment but for daily practice.  For more on this topic please check out the free eBooks found on the website listed below.

A still soul is the pathway to God, for God resides in the silence in between reality.  The journey within begins with a desire to know God and is never finished.  When you sit in silence and hold nothing in your mind you are opening the door to the heart.  The heart is the seat of the soul thus connecting you to your higher self.  The next time you have a day off do nothing at all, and I do mean nothing!  This takes a lot of practice, but can lead to awesome shifts in perception of what is (Enlightenment).

Silence is the folding of the wings of the intellect to open the door of the heart. ~Catherine de Hueck Doherty

Meditation is the simple act of continuous and profound contemplation or musing on a subject or series of subjects of a deep or abstruse nature.  Many people use meditation as a method of clearing the mind and finding the nothingness we all are looking for.  The mind is a tool and it is always on.  Let me say it again, the mind is always on.  Meditation is focusing the mind on something, or nothing and since focusing on nothing is very challenging for the beginner start with something (a flame, spot on the wall, picture, or just about anything).  When using “nothing” as your focus for meditation, try imagining a white room with no furniture or anything. Mantras (an often repeated word, formula, or phrase) also work well, such as “I am Peace and Love”.  It is simply a statement that you resonate with as truth.  In your meditations focus on your desires in a positive way as if it is already true.

For Instance, say you desire Peace in your life, get comfortable, relax, let go, and focus on Peace.  Ask yourself questions such as these.  What does Peace mean?  What does it feel like?  Is it a place?  Is it temporary or permanent?  Where does it come from?  You get the point, to simply dwell deeper on the subject or object of focus.  It is also helpful to imagine Peace as a building and you are exploring its many levels starting with the grand front door.  See it in your mind!  Walking up will raise your consciousness and going into the basement will expose your fears which can be quite healing.

If another thought comes in, allow it to pass, and re-focus on the subject.  At first this will happen frequently, so just relax, and let it flow.  As you practice meditation it gets easier and easier, but the changes are not always apparent.  Not to worry, change is constant and with focus the change is in the order of increased energy!  If things appear to be going poorly that is OK too.  Whether you are experiencing this truth you meditation upon is due to many factors.  Some of which I discuss in my first book, Livin’ Large.

Suffice it to say that thoughts plus emotions equal feelings and let your feelings be your guide, not what you think you see.  Persistence and consistency always pay off.  Remember that meditation is a simple act and can last for a few seconds or hours, it can occur when you least expect it, like while cleaning, exercising, or working, or it can occur when you deliberately focus on it.  Without meditation in its purest form humans would perish!  So you do it already, and you can get much greater benefit by doing it on purpose.  Awareness is the path to freedom.

Peace Is Within

The blog has been less frequent lately because I am out living the dream!  I am sure you are as well in your own way.  As a Spiritual Peacemaker it is my calling to help others find Peace within.  It is important to realize that Peace is always and all ways present.  You may or may not be aware of it, but it exists as surely as the air you are breathing.  In fact air can be removed, while Peace cannot.  For instance Peace exists in outer space while air does not.

One of the best ways I have found to reach Peace is meditation.  Many people find meditation difficult and this is because you do not fully understand what meditation is.

First of all let us consider what Peace is.  Without dragging out the dictionary, think of Peace as the Spirit within you and all things.  It is a still, calm, quiet, serene place but can also be active, forceful, and dynamic.  Peace is quite simply the force of Great Spirit, Universal Consciousness or God.  We find it calming and comforting because this is our home, our natural state.  Finding Peace then is like finding yourself!

Meditation then is a state of thoughtless awareness.  Meaning the mind is clear of thought yet keenly aware.  It is possible to be aware of something without thinking about it.  For example you can be aware of someone without thinking about them.  You don’t have to be in a lotus position to meditate, and in fact we meditate all the time, but do not call it meditation.  Manual labor or repetitive tasks are the most common ways we slip into meditation.

Physiologically the mind works at various frequencies from 40 to 1.5 cycles per second and represent 4-5 stages of activity, Beta (40-15), Alpha (9-14), Theta (5-8), and Delta High (4-3)/Delta Deep (1.5-2).  Meditation usually occurs in the Theta range of 5-8 cycles per second, but can also be a bit higher in the Alpha.

The wee hours of the morning are easiest to reach this meditative state, because the rest of the ego world is sleeping and so the mental or psychic airwaves are calmer and with less disturbance.  Many people will rise at 4 or 5 am to do their daily meditation and while this does make the process easier it is certainly not required.  I would say if you are just starting the practice of daily meditation, creating the habit of rising early and doing the meditation in the private space of your room can be a great way to center yourself before the day begins.

Meditation can be as short as 10 seconds or can last for days.  Typically a person mediates for 30-60 minutes till they get good at it and then they can meditate literally at the drop of a hat.  It does take practice and discipline so set aside a few minutes a day at least and get started!  For more on meditation see the website, Unity in Gender Diversity.  The eBook “Methods of Raising Our Energy” is available there and covers different methods.

Meditation and Transition

As a method of coping with the challenges of transition I can think of no better way than meditation.  Without it my journey would have ended long ago.  So this blog is a short look at meditation and how I got started along with several suggestions for you.

Since childhood I was fascinated by those who meditated, especially monks.  I could see the benefits but when I tried my mind was too wild and difficult to tame.  I fidgeted or fell asleep.  I tried biofeedback as a way to calm my mind and to control it which did help a bit however I did not have the discipline necessary to really make it powerful.  These things take constant daily practice with determination and confidence.  I had neither.

What I did have was sports, not really by choice but by necessity. Basketball was forced down my throat and so this became my meditation.  On retrospect my coach was helping me meditate whether we knew it or not!  You see meditation is not simply sitting on a mat in the lotus position and putting your mind in a theta brainwave state.  Although that is the end result desired.  Brainwave amplitude and frequency are the key.

“The brain is an electrochemical organ using electromagnetic energy to function. Electrical activity emanating from the brain is displayed in the form of brainwaves emanating from the brain is displayed in the form of brainwaves. There are four categories of these brainwaves. They range from the high amplitude, low frequency delta to the low amplitude, high frequency beta.

BETA – 13-30 cycles per second – awaking awareness, extroversion, concentration, logical thinking – active conversation. A debater would be in high beta. A person making a speech, or a teacher, or a talk show host would all be in beta when they are engaged in their work.

ALPHA – 7-13 cycles per second – relaxation times, non-arousal, meditation, hypnosis

THETA – 4-7 cycles per second – day dreaming, dreaming, creativity, meditation, paranormal phenomena, out of body experiences, ESP, shamanic journeys.

DELTA – 1.5-4 or less cycles per second – deep dreamless sleep

During meditation brain waves alter. A person who is driving on a freeway, and discovers that they can’t recall the last five miles, is often in a theta state – induced by the process of freeway driving. This can also occur in the shower or tub or even while shaving or brushing your hair. It is a state where tasks become so automatic that you can mentally disengage from them. The ideation that can take place during the theta state is often free flow and occurs without censorship or guilt. It is typically a very positive mental state.  (http://www.crystalinks.com/medbrain.html)

Now that you know what meditation is you know that it is hard not to meditate.  We all do it every day so why not use this tool constructively.  You can see if you go too far you slip into sleep, but I have learned that it is not a bad thing.  Meditate anyway and with practice you can get what you need from the exercise.  This is key – it is an intentional exercise that you do daily.  Focus on some aspect of your life that you wish to change or need help with, focus is good, but try not to think too much.  I start off with a situation or dilemma I am working with and then let my mind go.  Ask a question and then relax.  Allow your thoughts to flow.  Don’t judge them or try to direct them, just observe.

One thing I do now days to help the process is binaural beat brain wave therapy.   It is simple really and can be very effective.  Lots of material is available on the internet now, so explore this further.  I started with Centerpointe Research Institutes program of meditation recordings and was very pleased.  I used them for about 3 years till they just got too cost prohibitive so I looked elsewhere.  Be sure to use stereo headphones to get the full effect.  I recommend doing your research on this because I don’t have the space to explain it all and this is important.  Start with this link.

The important thing is that you consciously meditate every day!  Read my free eBook Methods of Raising Our Energy for more techniques.  And know that you cannot mess-up or even avoid mediation.  It is a natural part of daily human life!

A Path To Change

Transition is not only for us as humans; the entire Earth Mother is transitioning and this is connected with the Galaxy and Universe as well.  The timing right now is perfect for you to step up and embrace your birth heritage.  Many people have been hiding behind personas they believe serve them and for many years they have.  The time has come for everyone to let go of the old paradigms of thinking, analyzing, and intellectualizing every little decision.

The time has come for everyone to live from the heart.  The heart center is the home of your connection to soul.  Your authentic self resides here and is asking to be heard.  Many people think that wisdom is of the brain and that the most important organ of the human body is the brain.  This has been the bases of life here on earth for the past 2000+ years and our Mother Earth is ready to change.  We have accomplished much in the past and technology is an amazing tool.  Let us use this tool to connect our hearts!  As awareness grows and the shift in Mother Earth occurs we can each play our part in assisting the birth of a New Earth.

Divine Feminine energy is taking control of the situation here on earth.  In order to move ahead we must each accept the responsibility to live an authentic life that stems from our Heart center.  If this means living your life as a gender variant or sexually diverse being then so be it.  If this means unleashing your creative side and following your dreams, now is the time.  Deep within you is a well of Love and all you need do is break it open and allow it to flow.  Sometimes we need help with this and I offer this quote as explanation.

People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that’s what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life.
A true soul mate is probably the most important person you’ll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake. But to live with a soul mate forever? Nah. Too painful. Soul mates, they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you, and then leave.
A soul mates purpose is to shake you up, tear apart your ego a little bit, show you your obstacles and addictions, break your heart open so new light can get in, make you so desperate and out of control that you have to transform your life, then introduce you to your spiritual master…
~ Elizabeth Gilbert (Eat, Pray, Love)

So where does this spiritual master reside?  Within the soul!

The next time you get into place of confusion or where you need to make a major decision get in a quite spot, sit still and allow your heart to speak to you.  For more on meditation click here.  Imagine a green flame burning brightly in your heart and focus on that.  Relax and focus on the flame.   With practice you can do this in a moment’s notice and maintain this connection all the time.  I believe the urgency for all humans to learn and practice this is great and growing!

Another meditation that works well for transgender individuals is to visualize two flames, one pink and one blue.  As you relax allow the images to merge into one purple flame.  Feel the energy as you do this and focus on the heart, right in the middle of your chest between the breasts.  This is not your physical heart but your spiritual heart and it is dead center in your body.  Pay attention, it has a message of Love for you!

Mindful Living

Transitions can be intense and very challenging of all our faculties.  Just like any threatening event our fight or flight defense mechanism kicks in and our body is pumped up with adrenaline and endorphins. Our mind interprets the changes we are experiencing as a threat whether it is one or not.  This feeling to most people feels good and so we get caught up in drama.

Being alert is one thing, but being aware is very different.  Alertness is an animal instinct that often turns on all by itself to protect the body.  Awareness though is different in that it is a cognitive process and a conscious choice.  While it is a good thing to have our animal instincts protecting us, they can sometimes get us into trouble by reacting to situations that are ultimately non-threatening.  We get around this situation by being mindful of what is happening in our lives at all times.

Mindfulness is the state of being totally aware.  It is an act of presence and being present in the here/now.  The Buddhists teach a technique called mindfulness practice which I find helpful.  Take a deep breath in through your nose and hold for a count of ten, then release slowly to a count of ten through the mouth.  While you are doing this, be aware of your body, how the air feels moving, the chair you are sitting on, is it soft or hard?  Be aware of the lighting, the temp, and all of your surroundings.  Do this in a calm detached fashion sort of like slow motion.

With practice this technique will enhance your experience of life and also make you calmer.  The transgender person has many challenges and changes in their lives, however it does not mean that you have to be at the mercy of the life around you.  If we embrace the challenges in our life they work to force us into a state of mindfulness.

This is where transgender or any challenge that is always with us, often this means physical, can be a great tool in mindfulness practice.  Make your life’s ups and downs into an asset by being aware and present in the moment as often as you can.  They call this mindfulness practice for a reason.  It takes time to develop this skill, but when you do, the rewards are indeed vast.

I believe that this is part of the transformation process and a good reason why anyone would choose difficulty in their life.  The payoff is an enlightened mind, when fully utilized.  So embrace your transition and stay aware – feel your feelings and emotions.  Your life is a gift from you.
