We are One

Ownership = Responsibility

Ownership is purely a man-made concept which has existed for thousands of years in some form or another.  The question I ask here is simply this, “How does ownership serve you”?  Is it in the Highest and Best Good of the Human Race & Earth?

Ownership as defined by the Encyclopedia Britannica is, “the legal relation between a person (individual, group, corporation, or government) and an object. The object may be corporeal, such as furniture, or completely the creature of law, such as a patent, copyright, or annuity; it may be movable, such as an animal, or immovable, such as land. Because the objects of property and the protected relations are different in every culture and vary according to law, custom and economic system and the relative social status of those who enjoy its privileges, it is difficult to find a least common denominator of “ownership.” Ownership of property probably means at a minimum that one’s government or society will help to exclude others from the use or enjoyment of one’s possession without one’s consent, which may be withheld except at a price.”

What do you own?  Think carefully here.  Are you sure?  Is it because you paid for it?  Or is it simply that you claimed possession?  Can you do with it as you please?  Does it bring you joy?  Is it time to re-assess your viewpoint on ownership?

Ownership can be reduced to a one word definition, responsibility.  Do you own the house you live in or do you simply have responsibility for it while you live there?  You make payments on the mortgage till you either move or pay it off, then you still pay taxes and maintenance fees.  If you decide to dig for diamonds or drill for oil can you?  Doubtful!  Most homes do not include mineral rights. Even if they did, do you have the right to lay claim to something which belongs to Mother Earth (everyone)?

Pets are a living thing we claim ownership over, so what is up with this?  Aren’t you really just offering to provide care and food for the returned love they provide?  Is this ownership?  They see it as you have joined their pack or pride!  And in reality, this is true also.  By owning a pet you have a responsibility to care for this animal plain and simple.  It is a joint venture for the betterment of both, no ownership involved!

Marriage can be viewed from the ownership perspective depending on the society you are living in.  Families used to give their daughter up in a financial deal with another family in a transaction which benefited both families, a form of ownership, which the man or ruling family controls.  In fact, it still exists today in many minds.  The husband owns the wife who must conform to his wishes.  He bears the responsibility to care for her in the exchange.  This is the business of Marriage!  $72 million per year is spent on this in the USA alone.

By owning a car, stereo, computer or any other object you have the responsibility to care for this object till you release this “ownership” by selling, giving, or throwing it away.  This is really what ownership means!  It does not give you the right to abuse the item, pet, or person in your life.

In regards to Marriage and relationships, the responsibility is implied and exists whether married or not.  Ownership has nothing to do with it in reality.  It is not possible to own another person (without their permission – which marriage constitutes).  This is one reason I am done with marriage in any form.  Some things are beyond law!

Ownership of property, living or not denotes responsibility!  Of course simply being a member of society bears responsibility.  What I speak of here is we all own everything.  The idea of privileged use of certain items or land is an affront to civilized behavior!  The lesson we need to be teaching is that we are all one big family and to damage, abuse, deface, or otherwise destroy anything is offensive to yourself and your family.  Even if you are paying for a service like a car wash or renting a bicycle, caring and respecting the item is a part of the temporary ownership you have of that item.  Public space is another good example of community ownership and the responsibility each person has to care for it.

It comes down to simply Loving yourself and everything in your life whether it is “yours” or not, because in reality everything belongs to everyone.  Equality is the goal!  Share and share alike, a resource based economy has this focus and will meet the coming needs of society best.  Maybe we should all be looking carefully at what ownership really means and how it applies to society.  Maybe we should all be treating everything as if we own it and with the realization we own nothing!

Ownership Revisited Conclusion

In conclusion of our series on ownership, ownership as a concept in the LBE (Love Based Economy/Society) is abandoned because each person realizes the illusion inherent in ownership.  We as an enlightened society, embrace honesty and truth to the point that it pervades each aspect of society.

The idea of paying for the right to use something that was originally meant for all beings to share simply is no longer acceptable.  The present conditions we impose on each other where created for the economic system to operate.  Think about it for a minute.

You do work of some type and are paid for it, you then turn around and pay others for services you need to survive. It is a contrived system that separates and stratifies society, and simply does not allow equality!  This system served its purpose and now it is time to move on to a cashless system where we no longer have to get something before we give of ourselves.  Each person in a LBE realizes the source of all love, accepts their role in this love, and acts with compassion.

Gaia or Nature truly “owns” everything on earth as she provides the materials and can destroy anything we create.  The idea of ownership when you really think about it is absurd.  Even if you create something wonderful, it is not yours because you got the inspiration from Holy Spirit, and used materials from Gaia or Nature, all you did was put them together in your own unique way.  Now yes this is a great gift and makes the world a beautiful place to live, but it is not ownership.  It is giving.

With no ownership this frees us to live a life of safety and security.  If citizens know they have food to eat, clean water to drink, a warm place to sleep and other people to love and support them doesn’t this provide a powerful platform to live your life from?  There is no concern about who’s home you live in, or who’s food you eat or who’s clothing you wear, because you know in your heart that it is yours as much as anyone’s.  Each person in a LBE honors possession as the law, and at the same time each person only takes what they need never taking that which is being used by another.  In each moment they think about others’ needs above their own.  This is a compassionate and loving way to live; this is a Love Based Economy.

Ownership Revisited Part II

So you think you own something, such as a gold watch.  You wear it proudly and use it every day.  One day it disappears, you have no idea what happened to it.  Did you really own it?  Do you still own it?  As the definition reads from yesterday’s blog you did own it, but now you do not.  Possession is 9/10th of the law, or so it would seem.  I would say that it is 100% the law of ownership.

Say you met with a friend and notice they are wearing the watch you once owned.  Whose watch is it?  Does it matter that your friend found the watch in the company bathroom?  Do you automatically assume they stole the watch from you?  I hope not.  If you still wish to enjoy the watch, you could explain what happened and ask them politely to give the watch to you.  Since they are in possession of the watch, they own it.  If you are compassionate and caring you may get the watch back. It is like the watch is making the decisions and choosing the person to be with.  And in a way this is exactly what is happening.  Remember like energy attracts like energy and if you are resonating a match to the watch it will come back into your life.  I once lost and found a ring over three times before it decided I did not want it.  I never found the ring again.  It is not about owning certain objects; it is about enjoying the use of them and then gratefully passing them along when you are done with them.

I used to have a camera that I was getting tired of and wished to get a better one, but I would not spend the money.  A few days later someone stole my camera and my prayers were answered!  I now had the excuse I needed to go buy a new camera and I did.  I owned the camera while it was in my possession and then I did not.  The important point here is that I always have what I need.  The resources present themselves as the need arises!

It is also important to know that ownership as most people understand it today is an illusion.  You do not own the land, your car, or anything really.  But you do have the use of anything you desire to claim in a way that honors the Best Interests of all concerned.

Right now this means paying for certain items so that you have permission to use them.  Of course you are not paying for the item, but the honor of using it!  If someone gives you a gift card, they are transferring their honor to you, thus making it a gift!

Ownership then is really a Spiritual Agreement made energetically between two individuals or Great Spirit herself.  Whether energy is exchanged in the form of money, labor, barter, or Love does not matter.  The water you drink, the land you walk on and the trees you sleep under were given to you as a gift from Great Spirit.  Are you using them with honor?

Ask not – what do I own, but do I have what I need?  I bet the answer is Yes, because Great Spirit is a wonderful provider (as long as you allow it).

The etiquette of ownership is another topic so please do not assume from this blog that I condone taking anything without asking first!  Get permission, either verbally, in writing, or by (sales) contract.  Even in a cashless society, the rules of etiquette still apply.  Stay tuned! Ownership concludes in the next blog.

Ownership Revisited Part I

This is a three part series which I am reposting as a reminder to myself and my readers.  Maybe you missed it last time.  I welcome you to scan back through the blogs and explore.  The main topic of this blog is Transition, and the accompanying topics are Spirituality, Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation.

Ownership is purely a man made concept that has existed for thousands of years in some form or another.

Is your partner, wife, husband, boyfriend, girlfriend, child, pet an object?  Of course not, so please do not treat them as one.  Human relationships sometimes slip into ownership situations and this is regrettable and unhealthy.  I simply mention this as a reminder of what you already know – you cannot be owned, and neither can anyone else – at least not without their permission.  If someone is a slave they have chosen this experience for the advancement of their soul, but this diverts from our topic today.  Suffice it to say there are no victims, only volunteers.

Copyright is a legal construction so the person with this legal right can claim profit.  I ask for you to consider this carefully.  Who really owns the words written here or the electricity that brings them to you?  The reason copyright law exists is so money can be claimed; however it is not always the person who made the copyrighted material who profits from it.  Copyright law is simply a construct under which some get wealthy and others do not.  It is a limitation imposed by the powers at be.  I choose not to copyright my writing, because these words do not come from me but from Holy Spirit.  Anyone who wishes can wade in the river of knowledge!  This goes for any creation, a building, a computer, a book, a recipe, you name it – the idea came from Holy Spirit!  The resources came from Gaia and your part in the process is the hands to mold it.  Just because you played a part of a Divine process does not mean you own the creation!  If I make the muffler for a car, do I own the car?  If I make a book cover do I own the book?  Not hardly.

What is “real” about real estate?  What are you paying for?  Could it be that you are paying for the right to use the property as long as you abide by certain rules and pay the proper taxes and fees?  Why are you giving your power to some official or banker?  What will happen if you claim your inner power and God given right to live as you see fit?  Is what you are thinking in the Best Interest of Everyone involved?

The blog will continue tomorrow so we will meet again soon and complete our story of “ownership”.

The Illusion of Loss

The process of transition often leads to the illusion of loss through rejection of family members, friends, co-workers and of the former self.  So what is loss?  Loss is “the state of being deprived of or of being without something that one has had: the loss of old friends.” (Dictionary.com)  It can also refer to the death of a loved one.

If we look further at this definition we see that it involves possession, “that one has had”.  Straight from these simple words it becomes clear that this is an illusion because possessing another human being is simply not possible.  You do not own your parents and they do not own you.  This goes for every relationship in your life.  It can even be extended to other living things such as pets or plants, although the definition becomes hazier at this point.  You can own a beautiful rose bush, but if you do not love it and care for it then you will lose it.  The same goes for your best friend!

Even if you do love and care, nothing is permanent so eventually it will be lost.  What is really happening of course is that it is changing forms, and the energy still exists just not as it did before.  When you die, your body decays and “you” move on to other experiences either beyond this world or in another form right here in this world.  Often this is why we choose to have children so that our form or essence has a vehicle to continue on.

The illusion of loss can bring profound pain and feelings of despair to the individual who believes that something horrific has just happened.  Fear is a gripping emotion that can consume your life if allowed to.  In a way you have indeed lost something and that is a particular expression of self.  We often identify with the person or object of loss and feel like a part of ourselves was lost and indeed it has been.  Grieving is expected, so please do not fight this.  Honor the life you identified with as if it were your own.  While at the same time realize that nothing is really lost it has only changed form.

Life is always changing and evolving.  When this process is embraced and honored wonderful experiences result.  There is no way to find anything better till what you “have” is lost.  For a child to lose a parent this signals a time for the child to step up and replace the parent as best they can, but more importantly the child has the opportunity to fully express their essence, or be themselves!

Ownership Revisited

With no ownership this frees us to live a life of safety and security.  If citizens know they have food to eat, a warm place to sleep and other people to love and support them doesn’t this provide a powerful platform to live your life from?  There is no concern about who’s home you live in, or who’s food you eat or who’s clothing you wear, because you know in your heart that it is yours as much as anyone’s.  Each person in a LBE honors possession as the law, and at the same time each person only takes what they need and never takes that which is being used by another.  Each moment they are thinking about other’s needs above their own.  This is a compassionate and loving way to live, this is a Love Based Economy.

Ownership in a LBE

Ownership as a concept in the LBE is abandoned because each person realizes the illusion inherent in ownership.  We as an enlightened society embrace honesty and truth to the point that it pervades each aspect of society.

The idea of paying for the right to use something that was originally meant for all beings to share simply is no longer acceptable.  The present conditions we impose on each other where created so that an economic system would operate.

Ownership?

The next in my series on a Love Based Economy ventures into the concept of ownership.  Please excuse the length of this blog but I have decided to leave it in its entirety for ease of reading.  Ownership is purely a man made concept that has existed for thousands of years in some form or another.

Because the objects of property and the protected relations are different in every culture and vary according to law, custom, and economic system and the relative social status of those who enjoy its privileges, it is difficult to find a least common denominator of “ownership.” Ownership of property probably means at a minimum that one’s government or society will help to exclude others from the use or enjoyment of one’s possession without one’s consent, which may be withheld except at a price.”

What do you own?  Think carefully here.  Are you sure?  Is it because you paid for it?  Or is it simply that you claimed possession?  Can you do with it as you please?  Does it bring you joy?  It is time to re-assess your viewpoint on ownership.  Let’s take a look at real estate.

What is “real” about real estate?  What are you paying for?  Could it be that you are paying for the right to use the property as long as you abide by certain rules and pay the proper taxes and fees.  Why are you giving your power to some official or banker?  What will happen if you claim your inner power and God given right to live as you see fit?  Is what you are thinking in the Best Interest of Everyone involved?

So you think you own something, such as a gold watch.  You wear it proudly and use it every day.  One day it disappears, you have no idea what happened to it.  Did you own it and do you still own it?  As the definition reads above you did own it, but now you have lost it.  Possession is 9/10th of the law, or so it would seem.  I would say that it is 100% the law of ownership.

Say you met with a friend and notice that they were wearing the watch that you once owned.  Who’s watch is it?  Does it matter that your friend found the watch in the company bathroom?  Do you automatically assume they stole the watch from you?  I hope not.  If you still wish to enjoy the watch, you could explain what happened and ask them politely to give the watch to you.  Since they are in possession of the watch, they own it.  If you are compassionate and caring you may get the watch back.

It is like the watch is making the decisions and choosing the person to be with.  And in a way it is.  Remember like energy attracts like energy and if you are resonating a match to that watch it will come back into your life.  I once lost a ring and found it over three times before it decided I did not want it and I never found it again.  You may have experiences like this but explain the occurrences differently.

It is not about owning certain objects, it is about enjoying the use of them and then gratefully passing them along when you are done with them.

I used to have a camera that I was getting tired of and wished to get a better one.

You do not own the land, your car or anything really.  But you do have the use of anything you desire to claim in a way that honors the Best Interests of all concerned.

Right now this means paying for certain items so that you have permission to use them.  You are not paying for the item, but the honor of using it!

Ask not what do I own, but Do I have what I need?  I would bet the answer is Yes, because Great Spirit is a wonderful provider (as long as you let her/him).

ps. I did not get into the etiquette of ownership so please do not assume from this blog that I condone taking anything without asking first!  Get permission, either verbally, in writing or by (sales) contract.  Even in a cashless society, the rules of etiquette still apply.  I write about a Perfect Society on the website and you may enjoy reading this article published several years ago.
