The Power of Place

Have you ever noticed how when you are in a certain place your thoughts, feelings and actions often differ from what they might be somewhere else?  For instance, do you act differently at a professional baseball game than you would at your son’s t-ball game?  How about at church verses at work?

Why do people act differently at a party with their peers than they would at a family gathering?  Does this mean the person has multiple personalities?  Or could this mean that the person is being caught in the flow of energy present in that place?

Notice how you act in certain places and with certain people.  What is going on here?  I believe it is the energy influence in a certain place combined with the other people there that influence your behavior.  It is common to place these feelings on another person or on the place or location.  Psychologists call this Projection and in the psychological sense it is “the tendency to ascribe to another person (or place or situation), feelings, thoughts, or attitudes present in oneself.” (Dictionary.com 2010)  It is quite possible that the place is having an effect on you.  This effect is in combination with other people, and they are being influenced by the place also.  Big crowds are famous for the mass effect or group consciousness that controls large numbers of people.  Riots are often under this influence.

If you walk into a large cathedral of exceptional reputation and beauty you expect peace and quiet.  You would expect reverence.  The expectations are different for a movie theatre or stadium.  Part of the very reason you are attending those events is for the experience of that place!  While this may seem obvious to some, not everyone is aware that the place is influencing your behavior and vice versa.

It does not have to be that way.  Jesus taught to be in the world, and not of it.  What does this mean?  It means that you have a choice everywhere you go whether you allow yourself to be swept up in the experience of a place and how you act in this place.  If two baseball fans get into a fight, you have the choice of getting involved or not.  Even if they strike you, it is still up to you whether you strike back.  Jesus tells us, “To those who strike you on the cheek, offer the other also.”  This I believe is how you be in the world, but not of it.  To strike back is being of it.

Be aware of where you are and embrace this feeling.  Know that the place is influencing your feelings as well as other factors; such as the people there, your thoughts about the place and their thoughts about you and the place.  The ultimate power is in consciousness, because it makes up not only your thoughts and their thoughts but the very place you are experiencing.  Thoughts are things.  The gift here is that you are experiencing yourself consciously – now the choice of what next is yours, really and truly yours!

Thought Power

Have you ever considered the power your thoughts have?  You may have heard of The Secret or Law of Attraction which states that like attracts like.  Today’s blog is about the power of positive thinking and the safety valve that is built in.

In the movie The Secret they show an elephant sitting on the couch next to an actor who has just wished for an elephant and poof there it is.  Our wishes do not manifest this quickly for a reason!  You may not want everything you wish for!  “Success is getting what you want. Happiness is in wanting what you get.” Dale Carnegie

The trick to this process is being aware of what you wish for!  Make note of it, and when you get it, Celebrate it!  Now this can be as simple as wishing for a scoop of vanilla ice cream with chocolate sprinkles.  When you get it – Celebrate it!  Feel the joy that comes with success, even if you went to the freezer and served it yourself (sure way of getting things).  Once you get this down, move on to bigger and better things.

This techniques works on any aspect of your life, take your health for instance.  You imagine that a low fat, non-dairy Yogurt is good for you and you even imagine yourself smiling and happy after eating it.  Take a mental inventory here, you can remember wishing for this and when you do enjoy it, feel this success deep within your soul!

It matters not what you choose to do this with, because every thought is a prayer.  Also, as stated in the A Course in Miracles, there is no order of difficulty in miracles.  This means that if you see yourself happy, healthy and free of any dis-ease, then that is what you will experience, eventually, even if you have just been given a terminal prognosis with 3 months to live by your doctor.  It does take time in this ego world, however for those who have moved beyond the ego like Jesus, the window of time is almost immediate.  (STOP – Yes, you are like Jesus)

Think about this for a minute.  How does Jesus do the things he did such as walk on water, turn water into wine, raise the dead, etc.?  He wishes it so and knows in his mind that it is so.  He has no doubts, he feels the Truth and it is so.  I know this is how it works because I have experienced it!  Not that I have walked on water or such as that, but I am working within my beliefs and making great strides!

I am healthy, happy, and whole, because this is my wish.  I choose it!  I have also chosen to express my feminine nature as this feels more natural to me, and it is so!  There are pictures on the website below if you need proof.  I also had the experience of imagining myself taking a medicine, without actually taking it, and it works!

I encourage you to experiment with this and take small steps while remaining aware and awake.  Throwing away all your medicinces is not a good choice, but you can be free of them all when you take small steps.  Get professional assistance if you desire, just know that anyone can do this.  Notice your successes and ReJoice!!!

Thought Word Action

Continued from yesterday…Thought, word and action is the process of creation.  Please be aware of your thoughts and that you choose your thoughts!  At least you choose which thoughts you act on.  With all the advertising we are bombarded with every day it is important to be discerning with your thoughts.  If someone tells you that eating soap will clean your digestive system, they are technically correct, however the way it does so is not so pleasant and is potentially harmful, therefore this thought or suggestion is discarded.

Even a person with an M.D. behind their name does not necessarily know what is best for you.  Make that determination yourself!  This is a very important point; authority is not necessarily a good thing.  Your power comes from you so be aware of that.  Sometimes it is appropriate to get help from an expert, so by all means do that when you need to.   Get several opinions, listen to your inner voice (the quiet one) and test the idea if you can.  What is “good for you” is up to you!  How you feel about it and how it affects others determines whether it is the right choice for you.

What happens when you throw a pebble into a pond?  Ripples flow outward correct?  So what if you drink a beer, what happens?  How about drinking 10 beers?  Does this affect others?  The simple fact is that everything we do affects someone.  How about driving down a one way street backwards?  Understanding that we are all One will make these choices very easy.

Getting drunk and starting a fight is generally thought of as an undesirable outcome.  So is eating a gallon of ice cream and vomiting or getting diarrhea.  Use that powerful tool between your ears to choose your actions, knowing full well what the outcome will be.  Do things that make you and others feel better.  This is not all about you, so keep that in mind.  Unless you understand Oneness then everything is about “You”.

Oneness is the concept that God is all there is, so that nothing is separate and everything is connected.  The implications of this understanding are in fact changing the world as you read this!  A good way to visualize this is to see everything as energy, which it is.  Even the air is energy since wind can be very powerful.  Thoughts are things too, so as all this energy interacts our world is created.  It is “source energy” flowing through you that creates your life and your mind is the tool.
