We are One

Ten Saying to Live By

Top Ten Sayings I live by (which I learned over a lifetime)

1) “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” (Matthew 7:12) Because we are One. Their success and happiness is yours quite literally. A defensive mechanism I’ve seen is to push people away by being rude or mean or simply aloof and all this gets you is loneliness and pain. Giving your pain to others ends painfully.

2) Think Positively. No action taken to extreme ends well. Follow the middle road as Buddha teaches. Jesus taught us to “Be in the world, Not of it”. So, what does this mean? It means to live fully engaged with no attachment to the outcome. Which leads us to the next saying.

3) ‘Judge Not, lest ye be judged.’ Going back to the first saying, “what you give, you receive” or simply to judge someone is judging the self. A basic Oneness principle.

4) “Have Faith.” This is not something you do, but something you Choose. I choose faith over fear. I’ve decided things will turn out in the Highest and Best Good. This is God’s gift to all of us. The power to choose. In fact, Free Will is of the highest order. The First Law of the Land so to speak. Look at our laws and you will see most of them involve violations of Free Will; Murder, Theft, Adultery, Bribery, etc. These all violate the will of other self or some other person. We are One.

5) “Live and Let Live”. Focus on your life and let others sort theirs as they will. The only things you can control are your own decisions and actions. And even these seem out of control at times. If something happens to you which you didn’t consciously choose, it just means you chose it indirectly or unconsciously. The Universe says “Yes” most of the time and “No” only to protect you from yourself. The longer you’ve lived the more this will make sense.

6) Everyone has a story or better said: You are your story. Shakespeare said: “All the worlds a stage, and we are merely players”. This means you are the “star” of your “life”. You are the author! While it seems there are others manipulating you, this simply is illusion. There is no other in reality. All others are reflections of the self, like a kaleidoscope changes light. Oddly, we operate through other self in this world of illusions. This means those close to you are key to knowing yourself. Family serves this function well and often to our consternation. Our greatest fear, whether we know it or not, is to know ourselves. Be gentle with yourself. Life all boils down to this. Think about it. What is the most important relationship you have? Probably it is with your life partner, whom you have chosen. Sometimes it is with a parent or sibling and this works too. Know this is a story you’ve written before you’re born and plays out generally as you intended. Certain “rules” cannot be changed, cheated, or modified. For instance, all stories have a beginning and an end.

7) “Where your attention goes, so goes your energy.” Thus either fanning the flames or dousing the gossip. Focus is so important to success in life. I have seen this so many times. Distractions have only intensified and increased over time making what you focus on more difficult to maintain and more important to adhere to. Personality plays a small role in the ability to maintain focus and attention to in attaining a goal. More significantly, focus and attention can be learned and improved with intent and practice.

8) “What you focus on, grows.” As an extension of the last saying, this is just one more way of emphasizing the importance of setting goals, making clear intentions, and following through.

9) “A person who lies to themselves and believes their own lies becomes unable to distinguish truth within or around them. This self-deception leads to a loss of self-respect, an inability to love, and a tendency to become easily offended or vindictive.” (Fyodor Dostoevsky) The only person you can ever lie to is yourself… another vital Oneness principle.

10) “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” is a central declaration made by Jesus in John 14:6 (NIV). It emphasizes Jesus as the exclusive path to salvation, the embodiment of divine truth, and the source of eternal life. The metaphysical bible teaches us the title of ‘Jesus’ literally means “I am”. Jesus is not a particular person, but a declaration of Truth. Applying this saying means YOU are (I am) the way, the truth, and the life to yourself. It is asking you or reminding you to know your role in the life you lead. Have faith in yourself, while trusting others as an extension of yourself.

Nothing Is True

Nothing is true….     At least not in the traditional way we think of truth.  Not even God’s or Universal Truth is true.  Only what you give power to by both your innately and adopted beliefs has any truth to it whatsoever!   I am not trying to discourage you here, nor am I raining on your parade.  My intention is to shine some light on your illusions, or should I say our illusions.  You see the entire world – all that you think you know is a hologram, a fabrication of powers we do not understand.  It would be like a television set understanding the programs it broadcasts.  It is not possible for humans to understand any Truth, if it even exists.  I challenge all your beliefs as you hold them right now!

Why would I do such a thing, which many would feel as an assault on their very soul?  Because sometimes we need a slap in the face to wake up, and perhaps some cold water will shock your awareness into focus.  All you thought was true is not.  Take this literally.  The only truth is nothing….  or to say this another way, whatever is is not and whatever is not is.    Pause for a moment, let this fully sink in.  The reality you are experiencing now as you sit with your computer or tablet and read this blog; all that surrounds you is a fabrication or a projected hologram from the All That Is.  Even “you” do not exist!

We all love to watch movies because we experience things we would not otherwise experience, but the real gift is realizing you are a movie within a movie and frankly there could be infinite layers to this scenario, like two mirrors facing each other.  The image/realities go on and on for as far as the eye can see.  In fact as far as our most powerful telescopes can see, reality appears as soon as we look. (Works with microscopes too)  So there can be no limit to the worlds which lay awaiting discovery.  The simple act of looking creates them!  (The Heisenberg principle) This is what discovery is, the act of looking at the hologram and seeing it for the first time.  What if every experience was perceived as the first one no matter how many times it had happened before?

“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players:   They have their exits and their entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts, his acts being seven ages. At first, the infant, mewling and puking in the nurse’s arms. And then the whining school-boy, with his satchel and shining morning face, creeping like snail unwillingly to school. And then the lover, sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad made to his mistress’ eyebrow. Then a soldier, full of strange oaths and bearded like the pard, jealous in honour, sudden and quick in quarrel, seeking the bubble reputation even in the cannon’s mouth. And then the justice, in fair round belly with good capon lined, with eyes severe and beard of formal cut, full of wise saws and modern instances; and so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts into the lean and slipper’d pantaloon, with spectacles on nose and pouch on side, his youthful hose, well saved, a world too wide for his shrunk shank; and his big manly voice, turning again toward childish treble, pipes and whistles in his sound. Last scene of all, that ends this strange eventful history, is second childishness and mere oblivion, sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.” (Wikipedia.org)

“Who are you without your story?” (Byron Katie, 2008)
