What to do with Discomfort

Whenever you feel discomfort – whenever you have the slightest thought you wish something “out there” in your present experience would change, run this process:

1. Remind yourself it isn’t real

2. Dive right smack into the middle of it

3. Feel the “discomfort energy” fully

4. When it reaches a peak, call it what it is and tell the truth about it

5. Reclaim your power from the creation

6. Express appreciation

1. Remind yourself it isn’t real. Remember that you are immersed in a hologram, and by definition a hologram is not real. You only make it real if you assign it the power to be real and give it control over you.

2. Dive right smack into the middle of it. This is the opposite of what we normally did in the first half of the Human Game. Whenever we would meet something “out there” that made us uncomfortable – pain and suffering, for example – we would try to get away from it, resist it, suppress it, change it, ignore it, drug it, deny it, hide from it, escape it, or otherwise make it go away. Instead embrace it fully, see it in all its glory, invite it closer and get yourself into the middle of it as completely as possible.

3. Feel the “discomfort energy” fully. Rather than rushing through the Process as soon as you feel the least little discomfort, let it build as much as possible. There’s a very simple reason for this. What we want to do next is “reclaim the power” we assigned “out there” in these holograms. In many cases, we have “given” a lot of power away to certain people, places, and things that resulted in our feeling less than joyful. In fact, it may take more than one experience in the second half of the Human Game to switch off the power flow.

4. When it reaches a peak, call it what it is and tell the truth about it. When the discomfort has become as much as you can stand at that moment, it’s time to honestly assess the situation and look for your judgments, beliefs, and opinions. For example, is there someone or something in this experience you think is “wrong” or “bad” and should change or be different than it is? Who or what, specifically? And is that true? Is there a belief you hold causing the discomfort? Exactly what is it? And is it true? Did you form an opinion that is now causing you discomfort in this experience? What is it, and is it really true? One of the things you don’t ask is “Why” this experience is happening to you. That is a distraction with no relevance and will keep you from focusing on what does matter. As the experiences in your cocoon continue, you might start to see patterns in your life that revolve around certain key judgments and beliefs and opinions. You can expect to have similar holograms appear that give you the opportunity to follow those patterns, perhaps back to the first time you formed that judgment, or adopted that belief, or created that opinion. So “calling it what it is” means acknowledging and owning up to the fact that your discomfort is based on the judgments, beliefs, and opinions you formed as a reaction or response to this situation. The “truth about it” is that no one and nothing “out there” is going to change to make you happier. You’re the one who’s going to have to change your reactions and responses to your experiences; you’re the one who’s going to have to take 100% responsibility for how you feel and your condition in life; you’re the one who jumped into this uncomfortable hole, rather than being pushed or forced or tricked into it. The “truth about it” is that no one can ever be a victim of anyone or anything at any time in any experience; likewise, there are no unwanted perpetrators. As long as you feel like you’re a victim, you have assigned power “out there” that isn’t real. The “truth about it” is that you have no power to change the experience or anyone or anything “out there.” The only power you have as a Player is using your free will to change the way you react and respond to the holographic experiences created for you by your Infinite I.

5. Reclaim your power from the creation. “Reclaim” is Robert’s word, and I think it can be a little misleading. A Player has no power; we didn’t create the hologram to begin with. We definitely made the hologram real by assigning it power, but the power we assigned was as imaginary as the hologram itself. “Reclaiming your power” also suggests that when you have finished with the Process, you will have more power than before you started, by taking the power back you had assigned to the hologram “out there.” This is also not true. What I prefer to say is that you disconnect or turn off the power you assigned to the hologram, like pulling the plug or turning off a light switch. It was your judgments, beliefs, and opinions that provided the power in the first place. Think of it this way…

In the first half of the Human Game, you entered a holographic experience and flipped a switch that lit it up and made it appear real. It’s still there, fully illuminated, when you re-visit it in the second half – which is helpful, because you need it as bright as possible to clearly see the judgments, beliefs, and opinions that were your reactions and responses, and which became part of your false self, the personality construct, the ego you have been thinking is you.

When you have finished processing that hologram, you simply unplug the power source or turn the light switch off. In the beginning, it helped to visualize myself doing that.

6. Express appreciation. Expressing appreciation is perhaps the most important step. Even if you don’t “like” the experience you are having, do whatever possible (“fake it until you make it”) to express appreciation to your Infinite I for the experience – and especially thanks and appreciation to the person, place, or thing that was causing you the discomfort. After all, your Infinite I has just given you the gift of showing you where you assigned power “out there” in the past, and that’s worthy of some appreciation; and the people, places, or things that caused your discomfort have given you the gift of expertly playing a role in your holographic movie to assist you in your process of becoming a butterfly – definitely worthy of appreciation.

Realize this may be difficult in the beginning; but in fact, you may soon be wanting other people, places, or things who make you feel less than totally joyful to show up in your holograms as much and as often as they can, just so you can see where you’ve assigned power “out there” and “reclaim” it. When you keep doing this Process, you will eventually come to sincerely and completely appreciate each and every experience you have had, and all the people, places and things in it for the absolute perfection they represent.

Fate or No

Fate or no fate? This is the question.  Just how much “choice” do you have in your life?  If you believe all the New Age prophets and teachers it is all up to you.  Everything in life is your choice.  So if you have been following my blog you’ll know I love to question reality.  At this point in my life I have had enough experience to really compare and contrast events, to test theories, and to come to my own conclusions.  So let me share my conclusion on Fate.

First let me tell you an abbreviated story of my youth.  I am tall, always have been, so in elementary school I was adult size as a child.  This excited the basketball coach who was quite zealous in recruiting me for his team.  I tried it and hated it.  I come from a family of non-athletes.  It was not something that interested me.  But this decision was not up to me or even my parents.  The coach quite literally forced me to play thru fear and guilt, so I played and thus began that phase of my life, which did not end till after dropping out of college two years early.  Looking back on it, many good things came from my suffering, so there are no regrets, but the question still remains. Is this fate?

This story has repeated a few times in my life now, so this has led to this blog.  Who is making these decisions that vastly affect my life?  Is it the animal human me or some higher Spiritual me?  Or is it someone else entirely?  Who is “I”?

The answer will surprise some, but many who read my blog know exactly where this is going.  The “I” who makes these decisions is not the person living this little life here on Earth, but the Higher Spiritual Self (HSS) who exists beyond this world.  If you think about it, nothing else makes sense.  Not even the Distant God idea that so many religions teach.

The fact is we exist on many levels and each corresponds to the Chakras.  The beings on Earth exist on the lower levels, the first three chakras.  Our HSS exists somewhere else, but still connected here.  The HSS corresponds to the higher three chakras and the 4th or center chakra is the connection point between the two which make up the human body.  There are higher chakras but do not apply to this discussion, unless they do, so suffice it to say I will not be discussing these.

The way Stephen Davis describes it is we are the (i) little and the HSS is the (I) big.  Eckhart Tolle describes it as the ego vs. the Spirit.  Many advanced teachers describe this in various ways and once you grasp it this is easy to see.  Going back now to our original question.

It is the (I) Big who really chooses our path.  The (i) little is the one who experiences it and either accepts it (making the path smoother) or resists it (making the path painful).  So the moral to the story is simple, ‘Resistance is Futile’ and ‘What you resist persists’! Resistance is also what makes life painful. Acceptance has really been my topic these last few blogs and for good reason.  While many have been opening up and accepting their fate, many have not (thus the riots and unrest).

A good place to end this blog is a heart centered meditation.  Remember the heart chakra is where and how the two connect.  When the heart is open everything flows in harmony because the (i) little is communicating with the (I).  For more on this meditation please check out http://sequoiablessed.info/page70.  With some focus and practice the heart is opened and harmony takes over your life.  A big part of life is learning to trust the (I) big, know that it is love, and will never hurt you or put you in harm’s way.

Love n Light,
