There is a high road and a low road. The high road leads straight to God and the low road takes the scenic route but eventually gets there. It is important to understand which road you are on and to know you have a choice at any time to move to one or the other. In fact many people jump back and forth between the two and get know where at all! Jumping back and forth is like standing still because no momentum is built up on either path. Choose a path and stick to it!
Now let us look at the paths so we know where we are. The low road consists of actions of low energy such as gossip. Just so you know: “Gos·sip [gos-uhp] noun 1. idle talk or rumor, especially about the personal or private affairs of others: the endless gossip about Hollywood stars [or Political Candidates].” (Dictionary.com) (i.e. Political candidate tripped on the stairs today or He said so and so, how dumb is that?) The low road has many characteristics of which most are the easy way out, serve only yourself or immediate family, and often feels really good, but only for a short while.
The High road by contrast is often riddled with pitfalls and risks. It is all about serving others and can feel good or really bad. In the end the feeling is wonderful, but this only comes after much effort and practice, often for years. For example, instead of using gossip news is shared. “News [nooz, nyooz] noun 1. a report of a recent event; intelligence; information:” (Dictionary.com) (i.e. Barack Obama was in Denver today for the Democratic National Convention.)
Other examples of the High road are caring for others, thoughtful actions, treating yourself well, and staying true to your principles. Doing right despite what others are doing. The high road is taken by yourself, but this does not mean you are alone. It is a solitary path with great rewards.
Please be mindful of the path you are upon! Stay aware of your actions and consciously choose the path which best serves you. There is nothing wrong with taking the low road by the way, many do. To learn more about this I suggest reading The Law of One Study Guide V.2 which is available free on the internet, just search the title. I leave you with a prayer version of Psalm 1.
“Blessed are they
who walk not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
but delights in the law of the Land,
and on this law meditates day and night.
Like a tree
planted by streams of water,
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all they do, they prosper.”
