We are One

Be-Aware Of What You Say

How often do you stop and listen to your thoughts?  I mean really listen to what you are telling yourself?  It is called self-talk and we all do it.  What we all need to realize is that your unconscious mind is hearing everything said and saying YES, this is true and so it is.

This means that on a subconscious level you are creating everything in your life and often it is done in casual conversation like when you tell a stranger that the weather sucks today as you are filling your cup with coffee at the corner market, or when you say to someone in a discussion in the checkout lane at the supermarket you “have to go to work” after this.  If you carried a recorder around all day and then listened to everything you said that day you would be astounded!

Even little self-talk like “I am cold” or “I am hot”, etc. make a profound effect on your life.  I do it myself and have noticed this habit of thinking I am cold, which is in effect creating the experience, which then becomes a feedback loop (Think it, say it, feel it, think it, say it, feel it, etc.).   In order to break free from this habit takes a great deal of attention and living in the moment.  With practice anyone can do it and it gets easier the more you pay attention.

When you are focused on The Now and what you are doing at this moment, how your body feels, and every little detail of now the mind cannot be off getting into trouble!  When you contemplate the words you use, before using them, then you become empowered instead of being a slave to habit or whim.  The power comes from being conscious and thinking of what you desire – imaging the results you require.

Speak as if you are writing a book or a part in a play.  Be conscious of what you are creating with those words.  Put emotional intent into the words as well, which simply means “say what you mean and mean what you say”!   Speak with purpose even when in a casual situation.  For example, when at the market getting coffee, you could say “I look forward to the sun coming out” or “This coffee is so good”.

Using the words “I am” is particularly powerful as this is the name of God.  You may be aware that when Moses spoke to God, he was told that God’s name is “I am that I am”.  Translated into today’s terms this means that God is all there is; I am (God is) this and I am (God is) that.   When you use these words “I am” you are allowing God to operate through you and experience the world as God.  In effect, God is experiencing God.  So yes, this means that you are God.  You are made in God’s image because God is all there is!

The next time you utter the words, “I am” consider what follows and create with intent.  Feel the Love that is God and allow it to flow through you!  Speak consciously with authenticity and humility, while staying focused on your desires.  What you say is True!

The Power of Place

Have you ever noticed how when you are in a certain place your thoughts, feelings and actions often differ from what they might be somewhere else?  For instance, do you act differently at a professional baseball game than you would at your son’s t-ball game?  How about at church verses at work?

Why do people act differently at a party with their peers than they would at a family gathering?  Does this mean the person has multiple personalities?  Or could this mean that the person is being caught in the flow of energy present in that place?

Notice how you act in certain places and with certain people.  What is going on here?  I believe it is the energy influence in a certain place combined with the other people there that influence your behavior.  It is common to place these feelings on another person or on the place or location.  Psychologists call this Projection and in the psychological sense it is “the tendency to ascribe to another person (or place or situation), feelings, thoughts, or attitudes present in oneself.” (Dictionary.com 2010)  It is quite possible that the place is having an effect on you.  This effect is in combination with other people, and they are being influenced by the place also.  Big crowds are famous for the mass effect or group consciousness that controls large numbers of people.  Riots are often under this influence.

If you walk into a large cathedral of exceptional reputation and beauty you expect peace and quiet.  You would expect reverence.  The expectations are different for a movie theatre or stadium.  Part of the very reason you are attending those events is for the experience of that place!  While this may seem obvious to some, not everyone is aware that the place is influencing your behavior and vice versa.

It does not have to be that way.  Jesus taught to be in the world, and not of it.  What does this mean?  It means that you have a choice everywhere you go whether you allow yourself to be swept up in the experience of a place and how you act in this place.  If two baseball fans get into a fight, you have the choice of getting involved or not.  Even if they strike you, it is still up to you whether you strike back.  Jesus tells us, “To those who strike you on the cheek, offer the other also.”  This I believe is how you be in the world, but not of it.  To strike back is being of it.

Be aware of where you are and embrace this feeling.  Know that the place is influencing your feelings as well as other factors; such as the people there, your thoughts about the place and their thoughts about you and the place.  The ultimate power is in consciousness, because it makes up not only your thoughts and their thoughts but the very place you are experiencing.  Thoughts are things.  The gift here is that you are experiencing yourself consciously – now the choice of what next is yours, really and truly yours!

I Thought So

Many in society would have you believe that a certain product is either good or bad for you, so I have to ask you is this true?  Do objects control your life?  Meaning are there harmful and safe items your life depends on? These are deep spiritually philosophical questions that will in fact greatly influence your life.

It is time to shine the light!  This is all a game, and right now we call it the game of life.  So I would like to make it clear that the game is neither right or wrong, or even win/lose.  It is how you feel about your life.  Simple huh?  Let’s look a little closer though so you know what I am talking about.

What we eat; food, dietary supplements, medicines, and drinks seem to be a big part of our lives, especially in American culture.  Your Mom gives you a glass of orange juice and tells you it is good for you, so you drink it down and it tastes great!  You feel, full, relaxed, energized and satisfied.  So was the drink “good for you”?  Yes, the drink is good for you because the drink made you feel better.  If you drank 5 gallons of OJ this might be different.

You see a commercial on TV for a super diet aid that will have you lose weight in one month, the price is right and so you buy the product.  What you have just done is tell the Universe that you think you are fat and need to lose weight.  Ok, that established, what next?  The product arrives and you start taking it, just as the instructions tell you to.  A month goes by and you have lost 4 pounds.  Did the product work?  How much weight did you want to lose?  Did you need the supplement to do so?  How do you feel now?

You can lose 10 pounds just by taking a laxative and not eating for a few days, however the point is how you feel about it is what makes the difference.  The choice is yours!  Some supplements do help you feel better, but why?  Is it because they are changing your body?  Or is it because your mind is making it so?  The body always changes due to a thought, so the mind is what does the deed.  How you think about what you put into your body then facilitates the action of that product.

High fructose corn syrup is bad for me you think as you drink a soda, why do I drink this stuff?  Each thought is a self fulfilling prophecy dear readers!   Salads are really good for me and I really enjoy eating them…a smile comes on your face…a self fulfilling prophecy!  It works both ways and it works on about anything.  Some thoughts are group thoughts or mass consciousness so it is not only “you” that influence your thoughts.  Please don’t use this as an excuse to blame others however.  It is the law of attraction, what you think about most of the time becomes your reality!  Continued tomorrow…
