What exactly is freedom? Have you thoroughly considered the meaning of freedom and what the United States stands for? Most of us have to some degree, so let me share my perspective on what it means to be an American. First of all it is not about pride and the fall!
Blind faith is blind. Know why you do what you do and deeply consider the consequences of your actions. Take a step back and see the big picture. Is what you are doing adding to the fabric of society worldwide? Are you a separate individual who can do whatever you please? Can you for instance raise chinchilla’s in your garage? What about growing marijuana in your basement? If you do how does this affect those around you? What about the ethical issues that surround doing something illegal or cruel?
Yes, I am asking a lot of questions because it is important to consider the implications of your actions and how it may affect others. Freedom is indeed a choice and that choice involves others. Freedom is the ability to do what you want to the point where no one else or yourself is harmed. Freedom does NOT include harming another life or destroying something that does not belong to you, and I must point out here that nothing belongs to you. At least from the stand point that whatever you have can be lost or taken away and often is.
I will call this freedom with responsibility. You have the freedom to express yourself however you see fit, but not to be irresponsible. The USA stands for this very thing and as an American you have the right and the responsibility to live a conscious life. For those who are maybe living an unconscious life I will define conscious living. Conscious living is simply being aware of your actions and how this affects others, consciously choosing to protect wildlife and the environment. To take actions that support life, help others, and add to the fabric of society. Conscious living is simply being aware. Feel the seat you are sitting on, smell the breeze, see the beauty, and listen to the sounds of silence. Truly be alive and grateful,…now this is freedom!
Have a Happy Responsible 4th of July!!
