The Art of Appreciation revisited

This blog is a reprint from 2011 and is part of the Love Based Economy series and really gets to the core of how it all works. The best way to explore the expansive Transitions Blog (over 495 posts) is to use the category section lower right of the home page. It is also possible to search using keywords. It could be said that Appreciation is the most important aspect of the Love Based Economy. Love it and it will Love you back. It really is that simple.

They way this works is to replace the word it with anything and everything in your life/economy. Like this – Love your enemy and your enemy will Love you back. Or Love a dog and it will love you back. Love broccoli and it will Love you back. Love your wife and she will Love you back. Love your home and it will Love you back. This works with anything that you insert, and the point is to insert it all!

The logical question is how does it work? I love my wife but she does not love me back. The answer is again very simple, but not necessarily easy. If you are Loving something or someone and you are not experiencing the Love in return it means that you are not coming from Spiritual Love, but maybe ego love. Spiritual Love is that which makes up your soul, it is your core, it is unlimited, unconditional, and un-attachable. You cannot lose it – only give it way, you cannot limit it – only yourself, you cannot run out of it, ever! The ego version of love is the opposite of this. The remedy is to Love “it, them” some more!

So now you know what Love is, the goal is to share it or give it away, for when you do this you will have more! Like a basket of yarn that never ends, the more you pull from your soul the more you have! Since you have more than you need, you might as well give some away.

Going back to the key phrase, Love it and it will Love you back, the way to make it all work is to apply it consciously. The method of Love is to simply focus your attention on it. Invest yourself in it. For example, Love your dog and your dog will Love you back. Put your attention on your dog, give of your time, effort, and things that add value. Since appreciation is the act of adding value. The very word means increasing value! So to Love something or someone, appreciate them, make them valuable!

There are million+ ways to Love and objects to Love. In fact the options are endless. You have no doubt spent most of your life learning what is not Love. This is what this (ego) world is all about. The ego world is self centered, artificially created, and important to no one except you. Without Love, this world is meaningless! Without you, it is meaningless. Because you are the very Love you give! You are what is important, not in a self centered way, but as a vehicle of Spiritual Love! We each share this potential and the more we realize it the greater its value.

Value vs Worth

Value vs Worth: is there any difference and does it matter? Worth means “the value equivalent to that of someone or something under consideration; the level at which someone or something deserves to be valued or rated.” (Google Dictionary) Value means “the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something.” (Google Dictionary) So going by these definitions they basically mean the same thing. What’s it worth to you? Is it of great value? Now lets apply this to something that does matter, your life.

Inherent value, do you in and of yourself have value? To whom? Why? This is our topic today because I am sure you have asked these questions before. I know I have, and I have finally come to a viable answer. This question is also essential to a Natural Law/Resource Based Economy/Love Based Society.

A quick review of today’s society shows that value is based on what something or someone brings to the table. How big the bank account is coupled with the amount of credit a person has denotes a person’s value in our present Capitalistic system. There is much more to value than economics however. Think about this carefully, because you may not be aware of the purpose certain people play in your life. This exercise falls into the category of gratitude. For instance the bus driver is there to get you where you are going but also to guide you or possibly share companionship. Those who ride the same bus every day at the same time get to know the bus driver and the value of that relationship grows. A person who is always smiling and laughing is of value to all whom they are around. Someone who dresses nicely, feels good about themself, and radiates this energy everywhere they go is of value to society. It matters not how much money they have in their bank account!

Have you thought of anyone with no inherent value yet? How about the villain? Make your choice carefully, because they are plentiful in our society. I think you know without a villain there are no heroes. Ok, so how about a homeless person? Do they have any value? What purpose do they serve?

The purpose we all serve is to our Higher Self/ Soul. We are here for a purpose and the purpose itself has value to you if to no one else. What makes a person homeless? No home right! It is of course a lot deeper than that. The person is homeless because they have made choices that lead to their present situation. It could be they lost a job, or are too unstable in mind to hold a job, or they simply do not wish to play the human game, which brings up another topic – jobs.

Does a person need a job to have worth/value? Do they have to “contribute to society in monetary form” to have worth/value? Do they have value just for being themselves? What if you did nothing, would you still have value, or to state it another way, do you have inherent value? Does a person in a vegetative state or coma have value? The answer is blowing in the wind…life is a balance and needs both those in need and those to help. This is a duality after all. It just depends on which role you decide to play. (This choice is usually made unconsciously or as some would say, it is made by a higher power) Are you a hero or a villain; charity case or welfare worker? It really matters not, because we all have inherent value or else we would not be here! We are all a part of the story. Like opinions and assholes we each have a story, but that is a another blog.

No matter what you do or don’t do, you have value to yourself at least, but probably to others you have no idea even exist. So Yes is the answer! Life is not hard although we often make it that way. Be nice to yourself today and see the beauty in your existence! “a Love Based Society” knows the value of each and every person while making sure they know it too!

Collaborative Commons

If you have been reading my blogs you know how excited I am about the Zeitgeist movement and all things moneyless.  This article is not moneyless, but it does address a common question everyone asks about.  How do we go from Capitalism to a moneyless Resource Based Economy?  Listed below are the beginning and ending portions to the article which is quite long, but well worth reading the whole article.  Basic Income is a big part of this plan which makes a lot of sense.  Let’s read on…

“Post-Capitalism: Rise of the Collaborative Commons
The Revolution will not be Centralized

This article is a follow-up to “The Obsolescence of Capitalism: And the Transition to a Resource Based Economy,” which examined the effects of ongoing social and technological trends on the capitalist economic system, and the potential for humanity to restructure society and move from a system of scarcity to one of global abundance.  While the previous article presented a long-term vision for transitioning towards an alternative Resource Based Economy of abundance, this article will examine the more immediate conditions affecting society and how, over the coming years and decades, the capitalist market will increasingly be eclipsed, circumvented and overshadowed by an emerging Collaborative Commons. …

Conclusion

The productive efficiencies and disruptive capacities of new technologies will increasingly drive the marginal cost of producing goods and services towards near zero.  As traditional markets are circumvented, a new economic paradigm will progressively emerge that is built upon decentralized collaborative networks.

An Internet of Things infrastructure will propel aggregate energy efficiency from 14 percent to 40 percent across society.  An Energy Internet will empower prosumers to harvest, store and exchange clean and renewable energy across a distributed smart-grid.  3D printing will decentralize the manufacturing process, opening the means of production to anyone and everyone, while generating immense gains in productivity and efficiency.  Blockchain applications will eliminate the need for third-party trust and allow for the decentralization of everything from currency and finance, to legal agreements, licensing, social media, data storage, voting and governance.

With the development of advanced robotics, artificial intelligence, big data analysis, and advanced analytics and algorithms, human wage labor and the economic productive activities of the capitalist era will increasingly be handed off to intelligent technologies.

As capitalist markets and wage labor becomes less relevant, an economy built upon new principles and social values will progressively emerge: decentralized networks will take the place of markets; access to an abundance of shareable goods and services will reduce the significance of ownership and private property; open-source innovation, transparency and collaborative co-creation will replace the pursuit of competitive self-interest and autonomy; a commitment to sustainable development and a reintegration with the Earth’s biosphere will redress rampant materialism and overconsumption; and the re-discovery of our empathic nature will drive our pursuit for community engagement and social belonging in a rising Collaborative Commons.

The foundations of this economy will rest upon the principles of democracy, equality, diversity, transparency, universal access and sustainability.

If there is an underlying theme to the emerging paradigm, it is the decentralization of everything.” (Basic Income Blog, link below)

The Zeitgeist Movement as a Transition

Let us consider today the shift in consciousness the Solar System is now undergoing.  The earth is aligning with the galactic center and a doorway to transformation is opening.  The reality of One has never been more apparent than right now.  As we each awaken to reality a feeling of connection pervades consciousness.  The relationship each person, place, and thing have binding them together is coming into view.  One could say the veil is being lifted.

Stepping back and looking at the big picture the interlocking nature of each and every system is becoming obvious to even the un-awakened individual.  Humanity has been in the teenage years these past 50yrs and it is now coming of age.  We are growing up and thus needing to take responsibility for our actions while acting as an adult with compassion and caring.

The short video “The Zeitgeist Movement – The Transition” explains this transition quite nicely.  Look closely at the evidence they present and consider your own life within the larger community at a whole.  We are but Child Gods playing with toys far greater than our demonstrated maturity.  So far we have managed not to destroy ourselves and so the prospects are looking very good that we are about to step into a Type I status.  We are becoming adults!

The Dec. 21, 2012 date is the ending of our teenage years and the 22nd is the first day of our Adult life as the Human race on Earth – Terrains.  Of all the transitions we have each been experiencing individually this one encompasses all life on Earth!  Even Mother Earth (Gaia), the Sun and planets are shifting.

The energy has been intense and it has been difficult to stay positive as these changes are bringing to the surface many issues which must be dealt with before the shift.  For those who are facing these challenges the shift will be smooth, and for those who have been ignoring them or actively suppressing them the shift will be sudden and violent.

It is in your best interest to stop and take a look around.  What is calling for your attention?  Do you understand where you stand and why?  Are you holding on by tooth and nail?  It is time to let go.  Fear not, instead have Faith all is well.  This is not a blind Faith, but a knowing loving Faith.  The kind God has!  You are made in her image and likeness so now is the time to act like it!

What would Love do now?  How can you offer compassion and caring in each thing you do?  Are you considering how your actions affect those around you including the plants and animals?  Consider your actions carefully and proceed with knowledge which harmonizes with your heart and not just your head.  If it doesn’t feel right simply don’t do it.  Research the Zeitgeist Movement, the Occupy Movement, a resource based economy, and a Love based society.  We are all changing, so look ahead with excitement!

Global Vision

I never ask of others what I am not willing to do.  So here we go…How do you see yourself living in 15 yrs?  I mean the day to day routine, where you live, the car you drive, the technology surrounding you, etc., etc.

OK, so if I am still around, the world I live in totally supports me.  The place I live is alive with Nature, surrounding all the homes and businesses too.   Grass grows on roof tops, trees line the streets, and parks are in walking distance from every home including mine.  Water elements, either natural or man-made grace every community in some way.  The tall buildings downtown have plants either on top or on the sides to bring precious oxygen to our cities and help cool the hot surfaces while tempering the temps inside the buildings.  Solar windows collect precious sunlight to power all needed operations of the buildings downtown and for those of smaller scale like our homes solar panels are installed on roofs, or if on the grid the grid itself is powered by a collection of renewable energies, solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, and hydrogen fuel cell.

Technology is now embedded in all the things we use every day to make them more responsive to our needs and more useful.  Recyclable materials are used in every device available now, so there is no more trash, only recycling.  The need for mining has been reduced by half and fossil fuel is no longer used except in manufacturing and a few hold out devices, nostalgic cars, and old ships.  Cars now use hybrid electric/hydrogen systems which recharge themselves, never needing to be plugged in and only yearly maintenance.  Some people own their cars, but many use car sharing or public transport.  The suburbs are no longer what they used to be and have been converted to small towns and centralized communities grouped around the larger city with open agricultural space still in use outside these areas, although many of the veggies are grown in high rise greenhouses right in the city.

Computers are integrated and connecting all aspects of life.  Cellphones now come in two types, the smart phone/mini-computer or the tiny phone which plugs into your ear and works by voice activation.  The cell tower system is now integrated into one big network with the banning of corporate profiteering so reception is no longer an issue, no matter where you live or travel.

Travel is now much easier as border restrictions are no longer in place and passports are a means of tracking a person’s travel and not as a means of restriction.  Visas are no longer required for any country because the United Nations now runs governing operations for the entire world.  Cooperation between regional areas has taken precedence as the border definitions between nations blur.

Oneness as a concept and philosophy has now become reality and happened quite rapidly once the power elite came to realize the benefit it offered everyone.  It was in fact the “everyone” who made it all possible.  The commoner realized there was no difference between the leaders, the workers, and everyone in between.  They demanded and supported the union of world leadership.  The era of “us vs. them” ended with little fanfare.

The New Golden Age Is Awakening

The first step of transition to the new Golden Age is awakening.  It began many years ago and slowly more and more people are awakening to Oneness.  It is this awareness of Divine Oneness that is instrumental in this shift to a higher state of being.  Oneness is divine reality, it is a connection beyond the physical, and astral planes to a level of source.  This source can best be described as Love – Unconditional Love.

The next step is accepting this Love as not only our source but our very being!  No matter what we do, say, or feel Love remains our core.  The various forms it takes are unlimited, and this is what makes each person, place, and thing unique.  It is this individuality that gives richness to our Oneness.

When this singular concept is contemplated, digested, and integrated change cannot help but manifest.  We are all on this journey together from the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius, just to give it a name.  Once you were born the path was laid out – destiny foretold!  There are still choices to be made and soul contracts to be fulfilled.  Life is a process, a process of learning, growing, and expanding.  Just look at the Universe itself!  It has been doing this since the Big Bang.

“Ages are believed by some astrologers to affect mankind while other astrologers believe the ages correlate to the rise and fall of mighty civilizations and cultural tendencies. (I believe it is both) Aquarius traditionally “rules” electricity, computers, flight, democracy, freedom, humanitarianism, idealists, modernization, astrology, nervous disorders, rebels and rebellion. Other keywords and ideas believed associated with Aquarius are nonconformity, philanthropy, veracity, perseverance, humanity and irresolution. The appearance or elevation in status of many of these Aquarian developments over the last few centuries is considered by many astrologers to indicate the proximity of the Aquarian age. There is no uniform agreement about the relationship of these recent Aquarian developments and the Age of Aquarius. Some astrologers believe that the influence of a New Age is experienced before it arrives because of a cuspal effect or Orb of Influence. Other astrologers believe the appearance of Aquarian developments indicate the actual arrival of the Age of Aquarius.” (Wikipedia, 2012)

Each Age lasts 2150 years and although humans are not in agreement as to exactly when Piscean age ends and the Aquarian age begins all one must do is look both at the world at large and deep within their own heart to know this shift is taking place right now.  2012 is instrumental in this shift because it is my belief and understanding that a tipping point is achieved this year.  With approximately 7 billion people on the earth change takes time and this shift goes in stages.

A Resource Based Economy/Love Based Society is central to the new Age of Aquarius, and I encourage you to read up on these topics and let go of what you think reality is all about.  The world you see around you is a function of your beliefs and your level of understanding.  I have written an eBook on this topic, “a Love Based Society”, and invite you to not only read my eBook but write your own.  Give us your view of the Aquarian Age!  What kind of world do you desire to live in?

Say Goodbye To Mama & Papa

Mama and Papa have been by your side all your life and maybe it is time to grow up!  Maybe it is time we all said goodbye to our “parents” and lived our own lives.  What if our Mama is the Government, since they provide social programs, protection, and services to the world which we all use.  Papa is your Job, because this is how you bring home the bacon so to speak.  Your job is security and often self-expression.  What would we do without our Mama and Papa?

I think we would thrive!  Oh, we would have to grow up and be mature on an individual basis, but consider the possibilities if we could live beyond Government & Job?  Are you ready to stop being a child and step out to embrace this beautiful world?  How much do you rely on Mama and Papa?  If you are like most people in this country you rely completely on them!

What do you really require to live a happy and productive life?  Would this include the Government or your Job?  I can see many people would answer yes since they base their life on money.  Money is how you are controlled by the power elite!  Don’t you see this?  You don’t live “your” life you live theirs!!!  Consider this a SLAP IN THE FACE!

Wake up people!  Grow up!  It is time to take things to the next level, time for the Human Race to let go of Mama and Papa and live as adults who are responsible for their actions by thinking of their children (not just personal family), adults who embrace their fellow adults by respecting their equality, freedom of choice, and sharing the worlds resources equally.  It is not about “if they will do it, so will I”.  It has to be “I will lead the way!”

The face of the world in this new consciousness is “a Love Based Society” and a “Resource Based Economy”.  If you read this blog for long you will know of what I speak.  If not then please do some research, read my eBook “a Love Based Society” and watch the Zeitgeist: Moving Forward movie.

I realize this may be scary to you.  The thought of the unknown is always scary, however change happens anyway.  Just consider the Renaissance age, or the Industrial age, or a flat world and sailing out into the unknown!  We have lived with Mama and Papa long enough.  We bless them for the assistance they provide and are grateful for the opportunity to grow.  Now we step forward in bravery and embark on a journey of love – to a Love Based Society!  We are never alone, because we have each other.  So, let’s do this together ♥

Intrinsic Value

Intrinsic value, do you in and of yourself have value?  To whom?  Why?  This is our topic today because I am sure you have asked these questions before.  I know I have, and I am still working on a viable answer.  This question is also essential to a Resource Based Economy/Love Based Society.

A quick review of today’s society shows that value is based on what something or someone brings to the table, however everyone in your life serves some purpose.  Think about this carefully, because you may not be aware of the purpose certain people play in your life.  This exercise falls into the category of gratitude.  For instance the bus driver, she is there to get you where you are going but also to guide you or possibly share companionship.  Those who ride the same bus every day at the same time get to know the bus driver and the value of that relationship grows.

Have you thought of anyone with no intrinsic value yet?  How about the villain?  Make your choice, because they are plentiful in our society.  I think you know without a villain there are no heroes.  Ok, so how about a homeless person?  Do they have any value?  What purpose do they serve?

The purpose we all serve is to our Higher Self/ Soul.  We are here for a purpose and the purpose in itself has value if to no one else.  What makes a homeless person?  No home right!  It is of course a lot deeper than that.  The person is homeless because they have made choices that lead to their present situation.  It could be they lost a job, or are too unstable in mind to hold a job, which brings up another topic – jobs.

Does a person need a job to have worth/value?  Do they have to “contribute to society” to have worth/value?  Do they have value just for being themselves?  What if you did nothing, would you still have value, or to state it another way, do you have intrinsic value?  Once again life is a balance and needs both those in need and those to help.  It just depends on which role you decide to play.  Are you a hero or a villain; charity case or welfare worker?  It really matters not, because we all have intrinsic value or else we would not be here!

Think carefully on this because it is of great importance.  No matter what you do or don’t do, you have value to yourself at least, but probably to others you have no idea even exist.  Life is not hard although we often make it that way.  Be nice to yourself today and see the beauty in your existence!  “a Love Based Society” knows the value of each and every person while making sure they know it too!

To Change Something…

Remember Buckminster Fuller’s quote which says “You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the old model obsolete.”

a Love Based Society

Buckminster Fuller’s quote is right on target with the teachings of Unity in Gender Diversity or vice versa… the point is not to focus on what is wrong or even on what needs to change.  Focus instead on a system that does work and how best to implement it.  We need more people working on shifting reality to a world based on Love!

Two main forms of love exist.  One is of this world and the other is not.  The ego is an aspect of our being that allows us to function in this world.  All that you see in this world is a function of ego and I do not speak of the personality version that Sigmund Freud introduced.  I speak as A Course in Miracles (ACIM) teaches that the ego is all that separates.  Whenever you experience something separate from yourself you are experiencing ego.  This explains how we can think of love as painful or something we can lose.  The world is full of “love stories” that teach ego based separation with all the pain and pleasure that comes with it.  In this ego based world hate is the opposite of love, however they both come from the same source.  They are opposite poles of one whole, the ego.  In order to experience ego separation we must have the opposite which serves the very important purpose of supplying contrast.

Humans revel in the experience of contrast, love, hate, pain, pleasure, happiness, sadness, hot, cold, and all the aspects of time and space.  Turn on the television for 5 minutes and you will see the contrast I speak of.  All of the sitcom and soap opera programs serve up ego separation as juicy slices of comedy, drama, and action.   The ultimate act of separation is killing or death; the grand delusion of mankind!  The ego mind is a master of weaving this delusion into every facet of your life.  You are reminded of the “reality” of death a thousand times a day, especially if you are watching television. It has become a natural way of life here on earth, life is born and it dies.  We would not have it any other way!  Or would we?

To further define ego love consider the many experiences we associate with love such as happiness, sadness, emotional pain, deception, betrayal, loss, falling in love, love at first sight, and even making love.  These are all ego based so this means they are illusion.  I am not saying that the experience is not real because it is indeed real, just like the movies are real.  We can experience all these things in the movies and we do!  In fact the reason we are in this earth experience is to experience love and all the other experiences involved in this journey of discovery.  So if the love and hate we are experiencing here on earth is an illusion what is the other version of love that exists?

For clarity I will capitalize this type of Love, so if you see “love” think ego and if you see “Love” think Eternal Spirit.  The only true form of Love is that which some define as Agape or the Love of God.  I promise this is an extremely important concept to master.  Metaphor is very illustrative, so consider this.  You came to earth expecting a mansion and were instead given a shack!  This illusion was sold to us by an ego mind given full reign.  The ego is not who you are but is in fact a tool given us to experience this world.  It is not possible to be in this world without your ego, because this world is in fact your ego expressing.   It is time to let go of the belief that you are your ego (or your body) for it no longer serves you.

Who are you if you are not your ego?  When the ego is stripped away all that remains is Universal Intelligence, Great Spirit, God, Prime Creator, or Infinite Consciousness.  Other names for God are pure Love, Joy and Peace.  For our purposes here today we are only discussing Love although Joy and Peace are interchangeable with Love.  God is All There Is and how we experience this is what Love is all about.  God is Love, God is Joy, God is Peace, God is YOU and me and all that is!  You may have heard this explanation however I offer it here because it is so profound.  Each of us is a point of experience for God or you can think of each life form as an aspect of God.  This prose describes what Love is and isn’t.

Love Is

Love is not exclusive, but Inclusive

Love is not painful, but the Highest JOY

Love is never lost, but exists always

Love is not changing, but constant

Love is not different, but the same at all levels

Love is not wrong, but the answer

Love is Universal!

Love exists regardless of what is happening in your life, in fact

Love exists regardless of your life

Love is something you can share, but

cannot prevent another from experiencing, only yourself

Love is the only thing you have more of when you give it away

Love is a feeling, an emotion, an experience, and so much more

Love is life itself

Love is a way of life

Love is an acceptance of all that comes your way

Love is an expression of WHO YOU ARE, who we all are

I AM THAT, I AM

The next time you wish to experience Love consider what it means.  Love is unconditional and in order to experience this we must first give it away!  How can you give away something you do not have?  You cannot, but then Love is who you are so simply give you away.  This is done by being thoughtful and considerate of others, accepting others for who they present to you, and never criticizing anyone or anything.  You give of yourself by doing onto others as you would have done onto you.

As we focus on Agape, and living a life of Love the world transforms or conforms to our thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors.  It is a front end load system, you must put up first for the experience to reflect back to you.
