We are One

Ten Saying to Live By

Top Ten Sayings I live by (which I learned over a lifetime)

1) “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” (Matthew 7:12) Because we are One. Their success and happiness is yours quite literally. A defensive mechanism I’ve seen is to push people away by being rude or mean or simply aloof and all this gets you is loneliness and pain. Giving your pain to others ends painfully.

2) Think Positively. No action taken to extreme ends well. Follow the middle road as Buddha teaches. Jesus taught us to “Be in the world, Not of it”. So, what does this mean? It means to live fully engaged with no attachment to the outcome. Which leads us to the next saying.

3) ‘Judge Not, lest ye be judged.’ Going back to the first saying, “what you give, you receive” or simply to judge someone is judging the self. A basic Oneness principle.

4) “Have Faith.” This is not something you do, but something you Choose. I choose faith over fear. I’ve decided things will turn out in the Highest and Best Good. This is God’s gift to all of us. The power to choose. In fact, Free Will is of the highest order. The First Law of the Land so to speak. Look at our laws and you will see most of them involve violations of Free Will; Murder, Theft, Adultery, Bribery, etc. These all violate the will of other self or some other person. We are One.

5) “Live and Let Live”. Focus on your life and let others sort theirs as they will. The only things you can control are your own decisions and actions. And even these seem out of control at times. If something happens to you which you didn’t consciously choose, it just means you chose it indirectly or unconsciously. The Universe says “Yes” most of the time and “No” only to protect you from yourself. The longer you’ve lived the more this will make sense.

6) Everyone has a story or better said: You are your story. Shakespeare said: “All the worlds a stage, and we are merely players”. This means you are the “star” of your “life”. You are the author! While it seems there are others manipulating you, this simply is illusion. There is no other in reality. All others are reflections of the self, like a kaleidoscope changes light. Oddly, we operate through other self in this world of illusions. This means those close to you are key to knowing yourself. Family serves this function well and often to our consternation. Our greatest fear, whether we know it or not, is to know ourselves. Be gentle with yourself. Life all boils down to this. Think about it. What is the most important relationship you have? Probably it is with your life partner, whom you have chosen. Sometimes it is with a parent or sibling and this works too. Know this is a story you’ve written before you’re born and plays out generally as you intended. Certain “rules” cannot be changed, cheated, or modified. For instance, all stories have a beginning and an end.

7) “Where your attention goes, so goes your energy.” Thus either fanning the flames or dousing the gossip. Focus is so important to success in life. I have seen this so many times. Distractions have only intensified and increased over time making what you focus on more difficult to maintain and more important to adhere to. Personality plays a small role in the ability to maintain focus and attention to in attaining a goal. More significantly, focus and attention can be learned and improved with intent and practice.

8) “What you focus on, grows.” As an extension of the last saying, this is just one more way of emphasizing the importance of setting goals, making clear intentions, and following through.

9) “A person who lies to themselves and believes their own lies becomes unable to distinguish truth within or around them. This self-deception leads to a loss of self-respect, an inability to love, and a tendency to become easily offended or vindictive.” (Fyodor Dostoevsky) The only person you can ever lie to is yourself… another vital Oneness principle.

10) “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” is a central declaration made by Jesus in John 14:6 (NIV). It emphasizes Jesus as the exclusive path to salvation, the embodiment of divine truth, and the source of eternal life. The metaphysical bible teaches us the title of ‘Jesus’ literally means “I am”. Jesus is not a particular person, but a declaration of Truth. Applying this saying means YOU are (I am) the way, the truth, and the life to yourself. It is asking you or reminding you to know your role in the life you lead. Have faith in yourself, while trusting others as an extension of yourself.

Top Ten Spiritual Authors

Here is my list of top Spiritual Authors. I started to do a list of books and then realized there are way too many, so I will list the authors names and review why I like them so much. Creating a list like this is always difficult because invariably someone gets left out. So I encourage you to follow your intuition (gut, heart, etc. just not your head!) The author you most need to read depends on where you are on the path, so don’t take the ranking too seriously. I will list in order of my discovery.

First on the list is Ernest Holmes (Science of Mind). The Centers for Spiritual Living formally known as Religious Science Church sprang up around the teachings of this man. He did the logical thing and looked for the common thread in all the worlds religions and condensed it into his now famous book, Science of Mind. All his books are great and CSL has many other authors worth reading if this resonates with you.

Second on the list is Dr. Deepak Chopra. He has written so many books and most of them are wonderful, although he has become mainstream and a bit new agey. Wisdom is there if you look for it. His books helped me a lot in the beginning of my “Journey of Love”.

Third on the list is Dr. Wayne Dyer. Again he has written so many books with deep wisdom. I find his books are both practical and fun to read. A great place to start a Spiritual exploration.

Fourth on the list is Neale Donald Walsch, Conversations with God series. He is no doubt a master of the English language. A true wordsmith! I love reading from his perspective. These books are truly a gift to mankind!

Fifth on the list is James Twyman, an internationally renowned, best-selling author, filmmaker and musician who has a reputation for traveling to some of the world’s greatest areas of conflict, sharing his message of peace. He founded a contemporary version of the Beloved Community and has many creative works to share on the topic of Spirituality. In 2007 I was Ordained by him as a Spiritual Peacemaker and my life has never been the same. Blessings of Gratitude to him and all Spiritual Peacemakers.

Sixth on the list is Eckhart Tolle. He is famous for the “Power of Now” book published 1997. His teachings have blossomed since then and are well worth exploring. My favorite of his books is “A New Earth”.

Seventh on the list is Stephen Davis, Butterflies Are Free to Fly (free download online). Examines how quantum physics and recent scientific experiments are radically changing our understanding of life, our reality, and our spirituality. A mind blowing book! The part I like most is how it explores identity and who is the “I”.

Eighth on the list is Gary Renard. His books on ACIM (A Course in Miracles) are the best I have found. He explains the principles in a clear and easy to digest manner. There simply is no better teacher of ACIM, although I will mention Kenneth Wapnick who Gary calls the greatest teacher of ACIM ever.

Ninth on the list is The Law of One – 5 book series, The Teachings of Ra. These books are the product of L/L Research and abundant material is available on their website to explain it all. The books are free to download. I will not try to explain it and simply encourage you to read them and find the deep wisdom within.

Tenth on the list is ACIM (A Course in Miracles), the direct channelings of Jesus. This course is pure non-dualism and a bit much for many who are not ready to give up duality. If you feel you are, then by all means do this course and understand this is for the rest of your life! It is not a casual teaching which makes you feel good for a time. It will change your life for good, there is no going back.

Perhaps you will see a trend here as many of these authors teach ACIM to some degree. Know there is no One Truth above all else, there is only that which leads home! All paths lead home and the good news is you cannot fail. Some routes are more “scenic” than others though.

Blessings on your Journey of Love!

More Life As A Race

Continuation from yesterday,

Sixth, Curiosity is the fuel which keeps us going.  Without it you will go nowhere!  My favorite character as a child is Curious George, the monkey in yellow.  If you have not seen these programs I suggest checking them out and even if you have revisit them from time to time.  The innocence of youth is a gift we need not loose.  Curiosity is a big part of this innocence.  Also do not equate innocence with ignorance; it is more accurate to say they are opposites!

Seventh, Go with the flow….  “Resistance is futile” (Star Trek).  “What you resist persists.” (Jung) What this means is to trust the flow of life and do what you must.  Blindly wandering the in dark is dangerous so it is important to find the flow (meaning) and go with it.  The truth of the matter is there is no meaning to life or more simply put, YOU are the meaning of life.  Your life, your creation!  No this does not contradict number 2, because God is all there is.  Your life is God expressing through you (flow).  This is also why nothing is either right or wrong, it is because it needs to be for the experience God is expressing though you.  The part which confuses us is Free Will.  You have both free will and destiny.  Life will unfold as it does and if you really need to experience something then you will eventually experience it.  Love and loss are examples we all seem to experience at some point in life, so learn to deal with them.  You can choose to avoid certain experiences such as fighting, but if “life” needs to experience it through you it will.  Resistance is what causes pain; the more resistance the more pain. Consider this when making your choices in life.

Eighth, Life itself is a relationship, but as humans we are most concerned with inter-relationships with loved ones.  Family is the first challenge we all face and then there is romance.  All I have mentioned prior applies here!  Just understand the world is a reflection of who you are and love is the answer.  While this is simple no one is saying it is easy.  Loving your family and close relations is like loving yourself!  Or it can be the opposite, so consider this carefully as you observe your relations.  Sometimes you will play the antagonist and sometimes the victim, follow the previous advice and all will work out.

Ninth, Take care of your body.  It is your vehicle for experiencing life and if you abuse it life will be cut short.  As we grow the adolescent years are the most challenging to the physical body, between puberty and all the adult challenges we face these years can be most difficult, but at the same time they can be the most rewarding.  You will test your limits and this is to be expected, just do so with caution.  Listen to your inner voice of reason.  This is the voice which is whispering, if you hear it loud and clear then do the opposite! (The ego is loud and demands to be heard, avoid this voice.  Instead get quiet and listen to the still small voice which is your Soul)

Lastly and in continuation of caring for your body understand that life responds to your thoughts about it, and not just your thoughts but those of the majority.  The majority of people believe eating healthy food makes you healthy, but I say having healthy thoughts makes you eat healthy food!  Your beliefs about what you do, including what you eat will determine the outcome.  It is literally possible to think yourself healthy!  Of course the best advice here is Ben Franklin’s saying, “All things in moderation”.  Alcohol is good for you in small doses, but if abused it will kill you.  Fried food on occasion is fine, but eating only fried food will slowly destroy your health.  Strive for balance, love your body, even or especially the peculiarities, and respect others choices to do the same.

Life As A Relay Race

Think of life as a relay race and you are nearing the end of the race.  What have you learned which is important to put in your baton?  Keeping it brief think of the top ten things you would make sure to pass along.  By thinking on this topic ahead of time, you will more fully appreciate your accomplishments and energize all of life.  The following is my baton….

Number one is to remember to breathe, consciously breathe, notice how the air fills your body and feel the energy as it invigorates each and every cell.  This process keeps you in the present moment and it is the secret to a healthy, happy life.

Secondly remember life is not about you.  Serving others is the greatest accomplishment any of us can make.  Giving is receiving!  Notice how you feel after helping a friend or giving a gift to a loved one.  Now you know what I speak of!

Third is to share your gifts (talents) by doing something you love.  Just making a living (working solely for money) is self-destructive!  Let your living make you or to say this another way, allow life to sustain you (Money is only one reward for your efforts).  Living is the rule not the exception.  The human body can go 30 days without food and up to a week without water.  Notice how life supports you and the experience just gets better and better!

Fourth, Feel your feelings!  Emotion is the fuel for manifestation (creating what you desire).  This is why fear is so powerful at attracting precisely what you do not want!  Is your desire at a passionate level?  Your desire for something must be greater than your fear of the opposite.  By facing the dark side (emotions) it clears these forces from your life.  It is as easy as turning a light on in a dark room.  Just realizing that you have your inner light to shine wherever you need it can make all the difference.  Shine your light Beloved!

Fifth, Question reality, always and all ways!  Things are often not what they seem, so do not judge.  It is not good or bad, it just is.  Accept this and life flows with ease.  My favorite quote on this topic is “All the worlds a stage and we are merely players” (Shakespeare).  Just because something is false does not mean it will go away and in fact it is the false things we must deal with first in order to find the truth.  Be willing to wade through the shit to reach the shore of truth.  The rewards are well worth it.

The next five will be in the following blog so stay tuned.
