Celebrating Diversity Revisited

Transitions Blog is meandering along and in keeping with topics related to Gender and Sex I am re-posting a blog from 2010.  It is fairly basic, but I bet many of you have not thought of sexual orientation as I present it here.  Thanks for reading and please share your ideas for new topics.

Sexual expression comes in many different flavors, and is possibly as unique as the number of people on our beautiful blue planet.   The old school wants us to conform to the old ‘boy meets girl, girl has baby’ scenario and while that does serve its purpose as a race we are moving beyond that.  Relationships are so much more than adding one more baby to the rising population, or even the aspect of replacing the self.  The world may appear to be a binary system with only men and women, but I can assure you it is not.

Sexual orientation is an aspect of gender that Dr. Carl Bushong describes as “Brain Sex”.  “Our love/sex patterns, and how we relate to others on a social and interpersonal as well as sexual level, often referred to as our “Sexual Orientation”.” (1995) This aspect, like gender identity, is hard wired from birth, which means our brains, being much like a computer, are programmed to be attracted to certain physical attributes, genders and personalities.

To restrict every person on the planet, all 6.8 Billion +, to being either heterosexual or homosexual is unrealistic.  Instead it is much more feasible that each person on earth has their own unique sexuality which falls into several categories.  The categories as they exist today are, heterosexual, homosexual, asexual, bisexual, and pansexual.  There are a few other words being used but overlap these so I will stick with this list.  Within each category will be a sliding scale so that each person falls somewhere on the scale and is not necessary stuck exactly in that spot, although they will stay within a category.

Just briefly hetero means opposite sex attraction, homo means same sex attraction, The (a) in asexual means no sexual attraction, The (bi) in bisexual means both sexual attraction, and the (pan) in pansexual means all sexual attraction.  I do not like the term bisexual because it implies there are only two sexes, male and female.  This is the old world paradigm and no longer works (if it ever worked).  Pansexual includes everyone and applies to anyone that is sexual but not strictly attracted to the opposite or same sex.  This term is far more appropriate in today’s society.

The whole labeling game gets a little absurd after a while because the terms become contradictory and putting people into boxes is both confining and inaccurate. For instance, a transwoman who is attracted to women is lesbian or are they heterosexual since they were born into a male body?  And what about the woman who was attracted to this person not realizing they were transgender?  Does that make them a lesbian?  So what if it does?

The world is coming out!  We are becoming more aware of gender identity and sexual orientation, which is leading to more understanding and eventually to more acceptance.  I ask only that you stay away from the labels as much as possible and simply love the person.  This is why I like the Pansexual label best because it is defined as “A sexual orientation characterized by the potential for aesthetic attraction, romantic love and/or sexual desire for people, regardless of their gender identity or biological sex.” (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/pansexuality#English, 2010)

Who you are attracted to should not be grounds for discrimination. (In reality there are no grounds for discrimination) Could you imagine if the world judged you on the grounds of your attraction to hair color?  “Oh you like redheads, uggg or ewww”!   Actually Blondes often get joked about and while it may be in fun, it is only fun to the person joking.  Sexual orientation is just another of many category’s that are used to separate or define humans.  Being unique is a gift, and it makes us lovable and desirable.  Just think of a rare diamond or rare flower.  Uniqueness is a desirable trait in our society, so why not extend that to your relationships.  Celebrate differences and LOVE the person – stop separating!  We are One – one big family of Human.  Love the One your with!

Meandering Down The Path

Transitions Blog is still meandering down the path.  The chasm has been traversed and we venture on to the next stage of our never ending journey Home.  There is nothing to be done, no place to go, and nothing to see.

Or is there?

This of course is up to you.  It is your choice where your journey takes you, and in fact you make this choice in everything you do or don’t do.  There is no right or wrong choices, only the choices you make.  Whether the choice brings joy or heartache is how you process the information perceived.  Choosing neutral ground is not possible although many of us try.

Inevitably and eventually your actions will harm someone in some way and often this is a repeated experience.  The waves wash both ways and over time we build up a strong barrier which both protects us and traps us.  Courage is required to leap beyond all barriers and venture into unknown territory.  Faith is the ingredient which makes the whole experience possible, otherwise fear and doubt drag you back to the abyss.

I wish you both Courage and Faith in your journey!  May it lead you to precisely where you need to be.  If along the way you have questions or need support you may contact me through this blog or the contract info on the website.  I am open to topic suggestions, especially if you are not finding what you need on the website, Unity in Gender Diversity.

Moving Beyond Addiction

Moving Beyond Addiction

  1. Define addictions and the perspective you are viewing them from.
  2. Set a clear intention about them – quit, tolerate, or ignore.
  3. In order to quit the intention must be clear and the action consistent.
  4. Develop a plan of action which is no action at all.
  5. How does this addiction serve you?
  6. How is it affecting those you Love?
  7. Get support!  From a professional, a friend and/or your life partner.
  8. Find something to replace it with that is both creative and supporting to your life and that of others.
  9. Choose friends, activities and places that support your choice to quit.  i.e. If you are going to quit smoking, don’t go to bars that allow smoking.

10. Once you stop identifying with being “xzy” then the rest falls into place and you will develop a new lifestyle that supports your choices.

11. It is important to fill your life with other things and the less you think about “xyz” then the easier it will be to maintain this new lifestyle.

Addiction can be a multifaceted state of being but most often it only involves one behavior that is psychologically or physically habit forming to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma and this persistent compulsive activity is harmful to the user or others.  There are two types of addictions: substance addictions (i.e., alcoholism, drug abuse, and smoking); and process addictions (i.e., gambling, spending, shopping, eating, and sexual activity).  The question of some behaviors being addictions such as talking too much, collecting memorabilia or habitual crossdressing is debatable as to their harmfulness or severe trauma from quitting.  It is important to understand that an addiction is habitual and harmful to the user and/or others by definition.  So if what you are doing is harming no one then it is not an addiction.  It could be a habit or even a compulsion and not be harmful.  We are concerned here with activities that are habitually harmful. What exactly this means can be debated and often is by the person who simply does not want to face their situation.  This situation can be obvious to everyone or well hidden, but it is up to the individual to make the choice to change this behavior from harmful to harmless.  The simple fact is that the behavior needs to stop, but it will not till the perpetrator decides to change.  Let us just pick an addiction for example, say drug abuse.  The person abusing drugs by using them to the point of harming themselves or others must choose to change this behavior or it will never really change. Most addicts know that they are harming their bodies and/or others and just are compelled to continue, so they must face what is going on and be willing to take the actions necessary.  So what is a person to do?

The first thing which must occur is the person must admit they have an addiction and then they must decide to change.  This decision must have conviction, clarity, and follow through.  Ask for help!  Do not think you can do this alone.  Once the decision is made an action plan needs to be written down and shared with someone who is willing to help.  When you are accountable to someone else it is harder to cheat, but then we all know there is only one person to cheat, yourself.  The action plan should be simple and step by step.  Depending on the severity of the addiction, quitting “cold turkey” is not wise.  A slow weaning of the use or behavior is advised.  It may be worth consulting a professional who has experience in addictions and it is highly recommended to find a support group or at least a friend who is not addicted also.  Someone who has previously quit can be of great help.

Once you have a plan of action and some support you need to ask yourself some serious questions.  The first and most important being, “How does this addiction serve me?”  What do I get out of using drugs, smoking, drinking, eating, compulsive sex, etc.  Can I get this without harming anyone?  If so how?  Find something constructive and supportive to replace your addiction with.  Most addictions start from simple boredom.  You tell yourself that this one time will not hurt, and then it becomes time and again.  Next thing you know you can’t stop.  And I am telling you that you can stop if you want to.  It may take help and will definitely take support both from yourself and from others. So when you create a hole in your life by ridding yourself of an addiction the hole will fill back up if you don’t replace it with something constructive.  Be careful here, you don’t want another addiction.  Going from smoking to overeating is not helping anyone.  However going from smoking to running or exercising each day is both creative and supportive.

Be very aware of your small talk when you are going through this!  It is easy to talk yourself out of making a change and if you can be supportive of yourself you may just succeed.  Think about it, if you are constantly telling yourself and others that you have to have a smoke and a cup of coffee each morning that is exactly what you will do!  If on the other hand you say to yourself that you enjoy orange juice in the morning (and you really do) then that is what you will do.  Create a story which supports you and your choices and then stick to it.

Choose something that you enjoy but is not harmful.  If you don’t enjoy it then it will not last.  Be kind to yourself.  Praise yourself and find a constructive way to reward your efforts.  If and when you slip, just say that is ok and continue on without beating yourself up.  Just let it go and stay positive.  Consistency is the road to success.  The other question you need to ask yourself is, “How is this addiction affecting those I love?”  Really look deep inside and be not afraid.  When we really Love ourselves and accept who we are then all else is easy.  Be careful not to judge yourself on your past and just take what you have and move forward.  It is like a board game in which you look at where you are and roll the dice moving forward one space at a time.

The other thing you must understand is that addictions are usually started to cover up some emotion you did not want to deal with.  This is why it is helpful to find a professional.  There is a reason for everything and so there is a reason you got stuck on whatever it is that you are stuck on.  Look for this answer because the things we think will kill us probably won’t and usually make us stronger.  It is funny but did you know that you are more likely to succeed than fail?  What we so often do is get afraid of failing and then do things to make it true, thus making us a success at failing.  The point is whatever you set your mind to, and not allow doubt or persuasion to distract you, you can do.

In the department of support it is imperative that you choose friends, activities, and places that support you.  If you are quitting alcohol and your friends all drink it may be difficult.  If you are no longer a smoker but go to bars that allow smoking it will not last.  If you are getting past an eating addiction, then going out to eat 5 nights a week may be counterproductive.  The point is moving past an addiction is a lifestyle change.  Your activities will reflect your spiritual, emotional, and physical development, which in turn are reflected in your habits and addictions.  Not to say just because you work out 5 nights a week you are healthy.  It is more about your state of mind and attitude.  In creating this new lifestyle your self-image will change and this is where you want to be.  When you can get to the point where you no longer identify with our addiction, i.e. “I am drinker, smoker, etc.” and instead see yourself as a success it will all be downhill from there!  Simply be happy with who you are and accept that you are getting better and better each day.  As your daily choices support your decision to change your lifestyle will change and so will how you feel.  By keeping busy with daily activities it will take your mind away from your addiction and toward a more creative and supportive life.

Remember to fill the void with something creative and productive.  And by productive it doesn’t have to be a big project, it could simply be reading a book or washing the laundry.  Keep yourself busy and focus on things you enjoy, but not the addiction or anything that reminds you of it.  If you always smoke on your walks then do something besides walking.  If you always drink when you watch the game with the guys, then don’t watch the game with the guys or find a group that does not drink.  It is about breaking habits that no longer serve you.  Long walks in nature are a good thing as long as you stay focused on the beauty surrounding you or the good things that are happening in your life.

Now let’s review the major points so we can get a clear picture of what must be done to move beyond addictions. First define addictions, see what perspective you are viewing them from in order to understand what they are and to accept your addiction.  Then set a clear intention about them – quit, tolerate, or ignore.  In order to quit the intention must be clear and the action consistent.  Develop a plan of action which is no action at all (meaning stop doing the addicting habit).  How does this addiction serve you?  How is it affecting those you Love?  Get support from a professional, a friend and/or your life partner.  Find something to replace it with that is both creative and supporting to your life and that of others.  Choose friends, activities, and places that support your choice to quit.  (i.e. If you are going to quit smoking, don’t go to bars that allow smoking.)  Once you stop identifying with being “xzy addicted” then the rest falls into place and you will develop a new lifestyle that supports your choices.  It is important to fill your life with other things and the less you think about “xyz” then the easier it will be to maintain this new lifestyle.  Now simply know that as you think, say, and do, so will be your results.  Enjoy life it is a gift!

Self-Image

Self-image is very simply who you think you are.  It is based on feelings, past behaviors, and feedback from others.  While this seems simple it really is not because life is interwoven beyond comprehension.  Our minds cannot wrap around who we really are so it does the best it can to extrapolate meaning and identity.  The mind uses the physical universe for the basis of this identity and employs many techniques of deception and subterfuge.  At a young age we simply accept what we are told as to who we are.  For instance, if you are born into a middle class white family with male genitalia and dark hair it is just assumed that you are a Caucasian boy from an average family who has dark hair and pale blue eyes.  Identity is based on appearance.  The reality of this identity is only as real as the material world.

Mixing in feelings and behavior, identity can be further clarified.  First of all behavior is often driven by feelings which in turn feeds more behavior leading to self-image.  If you feel average, act average, look average then one would assume you are average.  I would say the ego mind sells this version of reality to most everyone whether it is true or not, and most of the time it is not true.  What is normal after all and what/who is used as a baseline or model?

Feelings come from within and can vary depending on many factors both external and internal.  Hormones for instance can determine how a person feels, as well as many other brain and body chemicals.  From the exterior things as simple as the weather can have an effect on feelings, is it raining, sunny, windy, etc.?  Other people can affect feelings if we let them by reacting to their actions or words.  So the bottom line is we often base our self-image on false data!

How does one figure out who they are then?  From experience self-image is learned and can be changed with some concerted effort.  Identity is a personal thing and evolves over time in sync with the environment and personal choices.  The more I delve into this subject and it has been an important factor all my adult life, the less I am inclined to believe the standard teaching on self-identity being hardwired into the brain.  I believe the brain to be far more malleable than we realize.   In fact, I view the brain as a computer processing center and without input it has no output.

So who are we?  First we need to know who we are NOT!  We are not our body or any part of it.  We are not who others think we are even though this does have an effect on who they are.  We are not our feelings or behaviors although they do have an effect on our appearance to others.  …We are who we think we are!

“I think therefore I am” Descartes

Going back to the previous example, if you believe (think) or agree with what others think of you then this is who you will be, a white middle class boy with dark hair and pale blue eyes.  If however you think yourself to be a rich white upper class girl with blonde hair and hazel eyes, then this is who you will be!  I can speak from experience here as this has precisely been my experience.  Ultimately, I know I am neither!

Just because a person has certain DNA and gene structure when born it does not mean they will or have to follow this path.  Choice plays a far greater role than given credit for, however I also know that fate or destiny also plays a role.  Now, please understand that I do not suggest that a person chooses to be gay, straight, transgender, or black consciously, but we do choose a destiny before birth so as to have certain experiences for spiritual growth.  Fulfilling this destiny is the only way to move on.  So it is best to embrace this path by looking deep within and with all the courage you can muster, step onto this path fully, with open eyes and open heart knowing all is well.  We are Spiritual beings having a human experience after all.  The Spiritual Principle, “As above, so below” applies perfectly here.  As we evolve spiritually, our physical expression changes.

All Death Is Suicide 2012

The end of the year is upon us and so this is my last and final blog of 2012, the year of Prophecy!  Everyone I know is still here and looking forward to a new and prosperous year.  There is something about endings that we love to romanticize and I am no different.  Knowing there is an end to the pain and suffering observed around the world gives me comfort.  Knowing there is a higher purpose to all that manifests on this plane is what keeps me going.  For me the ideal world is one which operates on a NL/RBE (natural law/resource based economy).  I feel it manifesting as I write this and know it has been in the works for quite some time now.  The world is indeed evolving and I am glad to have been a part of it.  The subject for today’s blog is not new but it is also near and dear to my heart.  Remember to remain open to new ideas and never judge others for the path they choose.

I find it strange that to die by “accident” is unavoidable but to die by suicide is sinful and unacceptable.  These beliefs serve a purpose of course, because they help us to make it through tough times when it is so easy to just end it.  Love is the answer, everything else are just excuses.  Consider the following quotes and make up your own mind.

“There is no such thing as an accident; everything that happens to you in every moment of every day is an exact vibrational match (thanks to the Law of Attraction) to the dominant thoughts you are thinking.

No exceptions, ever.

And, just to really throw the cat among the pigeons (as the saying goes), here’s one of Abraham’s most controversial (but completely true) sayings…

All death is suicide.

…which is a natural conclusion anyway if there is no such thing as an accident.” Stingray

It seems that everything is a choice, even death!  This goes right down to the color of your eyes and your genetic structure.  Not that all choice is conscious.  These choices were made before you were born and through thoughts, words, and actions taken by you along the path.

“However, the fear of death is unnecessary.  The truth is that all death is suicide.  At its core, everything is a choice.  There is an awakening occurring on the planet for those who are paying attention in which we are realizing how much choice we actually have in the creation of our reality.  As we accept our power we must let go of the desire to be accepted or understood by those who are stuck in mainstream thought.  This willingness to transcend the fears of others and become a pioneer is crucial to personal evolution.

In life, a central challenge is to let go of the idea that your body is decaying with time.  It is not.  It is actually recreating itself constantly.”  Unification.com

“In the Conversations with God Series by Neale Donald Walsh, God says that all death is suicide, and it is just a matter of whether we want to do it quickly, or over time with eating bad food, breathing polluted air, smoking, drinking etc. If someone is in pain, God does not want one to suffer, and does not blame someone for leaving their body quickly. If someone was to love you so much they would understand that, to keep you is selfish, everyone is sad when someone dies, not because so much they think something bad happened to them, but they cry for themselves, that what they want is no longer with them. Take this story for instance I was so in love with this guy, we lived together for a year, but I noticed he would go in the bedroom all sad and close the door sometimes. I found out he was looking at pictures of his kids he loved so much and his wife he was still in love with. I planned it out and talked him into moving to the city where his children and ex lived, and when we got there I said this is where I drop you off, I am moving on. I loved him enough to let him go and try to work things out with his wife and to be there for his children. Now, that is love.”  Kathy Miller

Remember that every thought, word, and action leads to your experience in this world and ultimately to your fate.  We are guided by higher powers, no matter how you think of them, Divine Being, God, or Higher Self.  Listen to this guidance and you will make it through the maze of life to the Promised Land.  There is no right or wrong way home.

2012 ChristMas!

Our favorite time of year is upon us again, especially if you are a youngster or still feel so.  It is a time of giving, sharing, and togetherness.  This does not require family, but it does require a willing to give of self.  It is easy to find those who need love through simple acknowledgement and/or attention.  A small gift of time or material substance is all it takes to let them know they are important.  To move beyond this point let us look deeper to the heart of the holiday.

This is the time of year when we are reminded of Christ consciousness and its relationship to our lives.  The very word itself is an indication of what this season is all about.  Christ in metaphysical terms means centered or anointed one.  The word “mas” in Spanish means “more”.   So thus we have it in simple terms.  This season is about getting more centered or literally, centered more and the word “anoint” means to dedicate to the service of God or in other words, to make sacred and whole.

The ceremony (Christmas eve/Christmas morning) is a way of connecting to Spirit and setting intentions.  It is an acknowledgment of Oneness with God (Great Spirit, Universal Oneness, Goddess, etc).  The symbology is important this season because when you share gifts it is a way of saying to the recipient, “you are sacred to me”.  On Christmas morning you are anointing those you love with gifts.  The actual item is far less important than the Loving intention (Christ consciousness) that goes into the gift.  The gift is in the giving!

When thought of in this manner the Spirit of Christ Mas is brought to life!  This year when you are sitting around the tree (yule log, menorah, or whatever) and sharing gifts, share also the Christ Consciousness.  In short, move outside yourself (ego mind) and connect with the One (God) which is present in each person in your life.

This is how Santa delivers millions of presents all in one night!  Through Christ Consciousness the Spirit works through each of us!! May you be Blessed this season 😉

Practice Makes Perfect

The animal human is like any other animal, very habitual.  We do the same things over and over, especially when they feel good or get us what we want.  Once learned, actions are often repeated even when they no longer satisfy us.  At this point one must unlearn the learned and change behaviors.

Learning begins with need and desire.  Once something to learn is identified going about the tedious process of learning begins.  Depending on past experiences and current skills the learning will come easy and quick or long and difficult.  Either way practice is key.  Practice, practice, practice!

Again this is where habits come to our rescue.  The more you do something the easier it gets.  The one exception I can think of is lifting weights; this never gets easier for me for reasons I have yet to figure out.  Now moving on, generally speaking what you focus on grows.  By practicing something you are staying focused on the activity.  Wherever you put your attention so goes your energy and it takes energy to get something moving.  Once it is moving, an object in motion tends to stay in motion, so if you take too long a break it will be like starting over when you pick it up again.

Certain activities are easier to pick up than others, like riding a bike, paddling a canoe, or walking.  An activity which you have never done (in any lifetime) will take longer to learn.  For me I will use the example of knife throwing.  As a child I tried for a long time to learn to throw knives and never got the hang of it.  I have studied Spanish for years, and still cannot speak it, although I do understand some.  If perhaps I had lived a past life in Mexico or Spain, it might be easier.  The point being if you really desire learning a skill it takes PRACTICE – repetitive action to the point of habit.

The more complex the skill the more practice required, generally speaking, playing a musical instrument for example or sports activities.  This applies to anything you do even intellectual pursuits like writing, debating, or planning.  The fun part is doing what you are good at!  This is very important because if it is not fun, you will probably not do it enough to become good at it, catch 22!   Getting started does take some fortitude and the deeper your desire the better your chances at success.  Thank you for reading Transitions Blog, now get back to practicing!

The Zeitgeist Movement as a Transition

Let us consider today the shift in consciousness the Solar System is now undergoing.  The earth is aligning with the galactic center and a doorway to transformation is opening.  The reality of One has never been more apparent than right now.  As we each awaken to reality a feeling of connection pervades consciousness.  The relationship each person, place, and thing have binding them together is coming into view.  One could say the veil is being lifted.

Stepping back and looking at the big picture the interlocking nature of each and every system is becoming obvious to even the un-awakened individual.  Humanity has been in the teenage years these past 50yrs and it is now coming of age.  We are growing up and thus needing to take responsibility for our actions while acting as an adult with compassion and caring.

The short video “The Zeitgeist Movement – The Transition” explains this transition quite nicely.  Look closely at the evidence they present and consider your own life within the larger community at a whole.  We are but Child Gods playing with toys far greater than our demonstrated maturity.  So far we have managed not to destroy ourselves and so the prospects are looking very good that we are about to step into a Type I status.  We are becoming adults!

The Dec. 21, 2012 date is the ending of our teenage years and the 22nd is the first day of our Adult life as the Human race on Earth – Terrains.  Of all the transitions we have each been experiencing individually this one encompasses all life on Earth!  Even Mother Earth (Gaia), the Sun and planets are shifting.

The energy has been intense and it has been difficult to stay positive as these changes are bringing to the surface many issues which must be dealt with before the shift.  For those who are facing these challenges the shift will be smooth, and for those who have been ignoring them or actively suppressing them the shift will be sudden and violent.

It is in your best interest to stop and take a look around.  What is calling for your attention?  Do you understand where you stand and why?  Are you holding on by tooth and nail?  It is time to let go.  Fear not, instead have Faith all is well.  This is not a blind Faith, but a knowing loving Faith.  The kind God has!  You are made in her image and likeness so now is the time to act like it!

What would Love do now?  How can you offer compassion and caring in each thing you do?  Are you considering how your actions affect those around you including the plants and animals?  Consider your actions carefully and proceed with knowledge which harmonizes with your heart and not just your head.  If it doesn’t feel right simply don’t do it.  Research the Zeitgeist Movement, the Occupy Movement, a resource based economy, and a Love based society.  We are all changing, so look ahead with excitement!

Art of Detachment Review

The Holiday season is a perfect time to practice the art of detachment by releasing your desires and focusing on the blessed gifts all around you!  We have all heard of this practice, but who among us has perfected it?

The art of detachment is a Buddhist technique that also has its Christian counterpart.  The technique works like this; be in the world but not of it.  Jesus taught this and likely learned it from his Buddhist teachers.  What this means is to fully experience life and at the same time release any attachment you have to it.  It is very simple once fully understood, however getting to this point can sometimes take years or even lifetimes.  I pray this blog assists you in the process.

As you are fully immersed in your life understand that everything is a reflection of who you are, this is why you are drawn to it.  The partner you love so much is a reflection of who you are, but they are not you.  The town you were born in, the town you grew up in, or the town you fell in love with is a reflection of who you are, but it is not where you are. Your favorite drinking cup, diamond earrings, dream car, childhood football, and all the things you are attached to for sentimental reasons are a reflection of who you are, however they are not what you are.  Embracing these facts is the first step in the art of detachment.

Allowing yourself to fully love a person, place, or thing while remaining free of any attachment to it is the goal.  Understand that you are both connected and separate from everything in life.  Not being attached means being able to give it to someone else.  It can also mean being able to walk away from it without feeling you have lost anything.  Through the principle of Oneness you realize that everyone and everything is of the One, a drop from the sea of life.

If however you think of this process as a loss, the actual power from this attachment is being held onto and the effect is disempowering.  So even if the person, place, or thing is long gone, until you consciously or unconsciously give it away you remained attached to it and thus disempowered.  It is like having a glass which is full; there is no way to pour in more water.

When you long for something you experienced before this can be nostalgic and society teaches this is a good thing.  In reality nostalgia is disempowering.  Each experience is a unique gift that cannot be repeated exactly.  Living in the past is not living at all. When you love the experience in the moment – laughing, appreciating, and engaging life – this is living!

Being able to move on to the next experience without missing people, places, and things of the past is the art of detachment.  You can experience these things again any time you like and this is why many people will live in the same town all their life, or drink coffee, or go for walks, or because they love the experience (the feeling it brings).  What you are ultimately getting is an experience of yourself!

“Detachment means rising above the status quo, without passing judgment, and watching the drama unfold without becoming physically or emotionally involved. Detachment doesn’t mean burying your head in the sand so that you need not watch the action as it unfolds; it means, being there, observing from an objective space, and remembering who you are, a spiritual being watching the drama of polarization reach its climax and fail so that a new paradigm of victory can be birthed by those of us who refuse to buy into a perpetual game of winners and losers. Detachment addresses the need of the spiritually inclined to remove oneself from the chaos while observing and learning valuable lessons about this temporary physical existence. … But remember, we are spiritual beings having a human experience and not the other way around. So we can remove ourselves from the drama when we’ve learned all we need to know about polarization and separation. When we finally realize who we really are, and how we are all equally part of the same creative manifestation, we will finally learn the fine art of detachment and the truth behind our cosmic ancestry and oneness.” (Dawn Abel, 2002)

The key is to tap into your desire and experience it fully, and once experienced you release it and move to the next.  Here is a different view of Detachment that provides a deeper insight to its value and use.

“Detachment not only releases joy; it is also the secret of health. It is the best medical insurance in the world, and not only because it can keep us free from physical habits that sap our vitality. Most illness has a serious emotional element. While there is an important place for physical measures in the treatment of disease, a mind at peace, and a heart flooded with love can release healing powers that strengthen and revitalize the physical system. Strength can be regained even after years of emotional instability. In extreme cases, I believe, recovery can be brought about even from what seems a terminal illness.

Today, of course, it is widely appreciated that because of advances in medical knowledge, we can expect to live much longer than was reasonable at the beginning of the twentieth century. But we can lead lives that are not only longer but richer, more loving, and more productive. The next steps in stretching the limits of human health and longevity, I believe, will not be in biotechnology. They will come from learning to govern the way we think and feel. Detachment is a longevity skill. Freedom from compulsive emotional entanglements is the best insurance against stress. More than that, by opening a window onto a fuller, loftier view of life than that dictated by self-interest, detachment brings a sense of purpose. Without a reason for living, the human being withers and dies inside. However paradoxical it may sound, it is detachment that enables us to give ourselves wholeheartedly to worthwhile work without ever getting depressed, despondent, or burned out – right into the last days of our lives.” (The Blue Mountain Center of Meditation)

I wish I could describe the feeling of Joy that comes from detachment, but I will just say “Give it a go – put this to the test”!  Completely love your partner, family, pet, job, home, etc. without being attached to any outcomes.

Transgender Day of Remembrance

TDOR is not a day about those who have died it is about those who are living!  The dead person has moved on and those who are left behind are the ones dealing with the pain and grief.  Separation is always painful but it does not have to be this way.

Today I would like to shine the light on why it is important to remember events of the past and to honor those who have gone before you.  The obvious answer and the one I have heard many times is, “learn from your past or you are doomed to repeat it”, but this falls short.  Perhaps it is these individuals are important as human beings and kindred family and while this is absolutely true the real gift here is injustice is brought to light.

Awareness is raised in the minds of all people and they see the destruction and injustice violence brings.  Transgender Day of Remembrance brings our community to the main stream consciousness in a cry for equal rights.  It is a statement of we are people too and deserve to be treated as well any other person.  The fact which often gets lost is we are all human beings and a valuable part of the whole of life; however it is not us against them!  Let me emphasis this point.  It is never about US vs. THEM in any situation.  When this perspective is taken it becomes a losing proposition.  One if not both parties loose.  The Equal Rights movement is about equal rights for everyone.  No one person is better than any other or more deserving or less deserving of common basic human needs such as personal security, love, self esteem, personal fulfillment, cultural security, and participation, plus a right to life, liberty, freedom of thought, expression and identity, and equal treatment before the law.  Let us focus on the things we all desire because this is about the living!

The Universal Law of Attraction states, “What you focus on grows”.  Or to say it another way, the energy of attention funnels this power where ever it is pointed.  If you are focusing on the things that are wrong or broken or painful then you get more of them.  However if you are focusing on what is working, how systems are supporting you and what you like about a certain person, place, or thing then you get more of that!

Please take advantage of this Day of Remembrance to focus on what you loved about these people who have lost or taken their life.  Let go the hatred which got them killed.  Let’s not make this about blame or fault but instead focus on the laws which do protect us and the give thanks to those who love us and work to expand protections for all people.  Share your dream of the world you wish to live in!  It is important to be heard, so listen to others and treat them the way you wish to be treated.  There are no victims only volunteers, thus I honor all the beautiful people who have volunteered to be symbols of change and to shine the light on a community’s needs.  Blessings to all who have passed before me and may God have mercy on those who took what was not theirs to take.

Ownership Revisited Conclusion

In conclusion of our series on ownership, ownership as a concept in the LBE (Love Based Economy/Society) is abandoned because each person realizes the illusion inherent in ownership.  We as an enlightened society, embrace honesty and truth to the point that it pervades each aspect of society.

The idea of paying for the right to use something that was originally meant for all beings to share simply is no longer acceptable.  The present conditions we impose on each other where created for the economic system to operate.  Think about it for a minute.

You do work of some type and are paid for it, you then turn around and pay others for services you need to survive. It is a contrived system that separates and stratifies society, and simply does not allow equality!  This system served its purpose and now it is time to move on to a cashless system where we no longer have to get something before we give of ourselves.  Each person in a LBE realizes the source of all love, accepts their role in this love, and acts with compassion.

Gaia or Nature truly “owns” everything on earth as she provides the materials and can destroy anything we create.  The idea of ownership when you really think about it is absurd.  Even if you create something wonderful, it is not yours because you got the inspiration from Holy Spirit, and used materials from Gaia or Nature, all you did was put them together in your own unique way.  Now yes this is a great gift and makes the world a beautiful place to live, but it is not ownership.  It is giving.

With no ownership this frees us to live a life of safety and security.  If citizens know they have food to eat, clean water to drink, a warm place to sleep and other people to love and support them doesn’t this provide a powerful platform to live your life from?  There is no concern about who’s home you live in, or who’s food you eat or who’s clothing you wear, because you know in your heart that it is yours as much as anyone’s.  Each person in a LBE honors possession as the law, and at the same time each person only takes what they need never taking that which is being used by another.  In each moment they think about others’ needs above their own.  This is a compassionate and loving way to live; this is a Love Based Economy.

Ownership Revisited Part II

So you think you own something, such as a gold watch.  You wear it proudly and use it every day.  One day it disappears, you have no idea what happened to it.  Did you really own it?  Do you still own it?  As the definition reads from yesterday’s blog you did own it, but now you do not.  Possession is 9/10th of the law, or so it would seem.  I would say that it is 100% the law of ownership.

Say you met with a friend and notice they are wearing the watch you once owned.  Whose watch is it?  Does it matter that your friend found the watch in the company bathroom?  Do you automatically assume they stole the watch from you?  I hope not.  If you still wish to enjoy the watch, you could explain what happened and ask them politely to give the watch to you.  Since they are in possession of the watch, they own it.  If you are compassionate and caring you may get the watch back. It is like the watch is making the decisions and choosing the person to be with.  And in a way this is exactly what is happening.  Remember like energy attracts like energy and if you are resonating a match to the watch it will come back into your life.  I once lost and found a ring over three times before it decided I did not want it.  I never found the ring again.  It is not about owning certain objects; it is about enjoying the use of them and then gratefully passing them along when you are done with them.

I used to have a camera that I was getting tired of and wished to get a better one, but I would not spend the money.  A few days later someone stole my camera and my prayers were answered!  I now had the excuse I needed to go buy a new camera and I did.  I owned the camera while it was in my possession and then I did not.  The important point here is that I always have what I need.  The resources present themselves as the need arises!

It is also important to know that ownership as most people understand it today is an illusion.  You do not own the land, your car, or anything really.  But you do have the use of anything you desire to claim in a way that honors the Best Interests of all concerned.

Right now this means paying for certain items so that you have permission to use them.  Of course you are not paying for the item, but the honor of using it!  If someone gives you a gift card, they are transferring their honor to you, thus making it a gift!

Ownership then is really a Spiritual Agreement made energetically between two individuals or Great Spirit herself.  Whether energy is exchanged in the form of money, labor, barter, or Love does not matter.  The water you drink, the land you walk on and the trees you sleep under were given to you as a gift from Great Spirit.  Are you using them with honor?

Ask not – what do I own, but do I have what I need?  I bet the answer is Yes, because Great Spirit is a wonderful provider (as long as you allow it).

The etiquette of ownership is another topic so please do not assume from this blog that I condone taking anything without asking first!  Get permission, either verbally, in writing, or by (sales) contract.  Even in a cashless society, the rules of etiquette still apply.  Stay tuned! Ownership concludes in the next blog.

Ownership Revisited Part I

This is a three part series which I am reposting as a reminder to myself and my readers.  Maybe you missed it last time.  I welcome you to scan back through the blogs and explore.  The main topic of this blog is Transition, and the accompanying topics are Spirituality, Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation.

Ownership is purely a man made concept that has existed for thousands of years in some form or another.  The question I ask here is simply this, “How does ownership serve you”?  Is it in the Highest and Best Good of the Human Race & Earth?

Ownership as defined by the Encyclopedia Britannica is, “the legal relation between a person (individual, group, corporation, or government) and an object. The object may be corporeal, such as furniture, or completely the creature of law, such as a patent, copyright, or annuity; it may be movable, such as an animal, or immovable, such as land. Because the objects of property and the protected relations are different in every culture and vary according to law, custom and economic system and the relative social status of those who enjoy its privileges, it is difficult to find a least common denominator of “ownership.” Ownership of property probably means at a minimum that one’s government or society will help to exclude others from the use or enjoyment of one’s possession without one’s consent, which may be withheld except at a price.”

What do you own?  Think carefully here.  Are you sure?  Is it because you paid for it?  Or is it simply that you claimed possession?  Can you do with it as you please?  Does it bring you joy?  Is it time to re-assess your viewpoint on ownership?

Is your partner, wife, husband, boyfriend, girlfriend, child, pet an object?  Of course not, so please do not treat them as one.  Human relationships sometimes slip into ownership situations and this is regrettable and unhealthy.  I simply mention this as a reminder of what you already know – you cannot be owned, and neither can anyone else – at least not without their permission.  If someone is a slave they have chosen this experience for the advancement of their soul, but this diverts from our topic today.  Suffice it to say there are no victims, only volunteers.

Copyright is a legal construction so the person with this legal right can claim profit.  I ask for you to consider this carefully.  Who really owns the words written here or the electricity that brings them to you?  The reason copyright law exists is so money can be claimed; however it is not always the person who made the copyrighted material who profits from it.  Copyright law is simply a construct under which some get wealthy and others do not.  It is a limitation imposed by the powers at be.  I choose not to copyright my writing, because these words do not come from me but from Holy Spirit.  Anyone who wishes can wade in the river of knowledge!  This goes for any creation, a building, a computer, a book, a recipe, you name it – the idea came from Holy Spirit!  The resources came from Gaia and your part in the process is the hands to mold it.  Just because you played a part of a Divine process does not mean you own the creation!  If I make the muffler for a car, do I own the car?  If I make a book cover do I own the book?  Not hardly.

What is “real” about real estate?  What are you paying for?  Could it be that you are paying for the right to use the property as long as you abide by certain rules and pay the proper taxes and fees?  Why are you giving your power to some official or banker?  What will happen if you claim your inner power and God given right to live as you see fit?  Is what you are thinking in the Best Interest of Everyone involved?

The blog will continue tomorrow so we will meet again soon and complete our story of “ownership”.

All Change Is For Your Own Good

The following blog is shared from one of my favorite authors and offers you a chance to “Change your idea about “change””.  We are constantly barraged by offers to change, how to change, change made easy, etc. etc. so dispense with all the babble and get to the soul of the issue, you already have all you need!

Neale Donald Walsch, Saturday, 25 September, 2010

I was re-reading When Everything Changes, Change Everything the other day and I was deeply impressed again (as I was the first time around) with its statement that there are two sentences that can change your entire life. These are two sentences that you will want to remember verbatim. I mean, really remember. As in, never forget. As in, tattooed on your left wrist, written in soap on your bathroom mirror, or magnetized to your refrigerator door.

These two utterances are paradigm-shifting and life changing. I call them…

1. The Life-Altering Question

2. The Answer to Everything

The Life-Altering Question is:

Is It Possible That The Reality I Am Experiencing Is Not Real?

It is the soul that encourages this question.

And then there is The Answer to Everything. What I am about to tell you can make it possible for you to never have a negative experience of change again. This is the final piece of the puzzle. This is the lost key, the unknown combination, the secret of secrets.

Here it is…

All Change Is For The Better.
There Is No Such Thing As Change For The Worse.

What I have just told you changes everything. No other piece of information is needed, no other data is required. The mind is now empowered to come to a whole new set of conclusions about Life.

All that we need to do to deal with unexpected, unwanted change in our life is…

Change our idea about Change Itself

We have been seeing change as a disruption, as a break in the flow, as a shift in direction, as an alteration in the condition or circumstance of our lives. Especially with regard to what we view as unwelcome change, this has been our truth. From this truth has emerged our thought, which has created our emotion, which has produced our experience, which has eventuated our reality.

I want you to think about what I just said. An event is what brings about our reality. Our reality is, in the literal sense, eventuated.

This is true until we are out of our mind. When we leave the mind and enter the realm of the soul, then it is no longer events that bring about our reality, but pure awareness.

From awareness emerges Actual Truth, while from events emerges, at best, Apparent Truth and, more usually, Imagined Truth. Thus, from events we travel into a Distorted Reality, while from awareness we move at last into the Ultimate Reality.

And what is it of which we become aware, that produces such a quantum shift in our overall experience? We become aware of the Actual Truth about Change Itself. We see that change is not a DISruption, but an Eruption. It is life erupting into fuller bloom. We see that change is not a break in the flow, it IS the flow. We see that change is not a shift in direction, it is the direction itself in which all life moves. We see that change is not an alteration in the condition and circumstance of our lives, it IS the condition and circumstance of our lives.

In our expanded awareness we observe that without change, life itself would not be, for life is movement, and movement is change, by definition.

The question is not, therefore, whether life will contain change, but what kind of change life will contain?

And the answer to that question depends upon how (and whether) you utilize your Mind and your Soul, in collaboration.

The soul is energy. It is the energy of life itself, animating life itself. Life energizes and animates life itself through the process of Life Itself. It is a self-feeding, self-sustaining system.

Those last few words are vitally important to remember. Life is a self-sustaining system. It never ends, but sustains itself eternally. How? By adapting. Why? So that it can remain forever functional. When it can no longer function in a particular way, it adapts. By its adaptation does it render itself sustainable.

Life is making its adaptations in every moment. It is always changing. The question is not whether life is always changing, but why? Life is always changing in order to remain always sustainable. Thus, every change that ever occurs is change for the better.

This new idea about change that I’m inviting you to embrace, when put on a more personal level, reads like this: All change is for your own good.

Most of us experience this-after the fact.

Most of us have experienced events which we have called, when they were happening, the worst moments of our lives, only to find, as time went by, that what occurred was one of the best things that ever happened to us.

The fact is that this is true of everything that has ever happened to us, but we do not know this, we cannot accept this, because some things have turned out for the worst-according to our definition. Yet our definition is warped, constrained as it is by the Mechanics of the Mind, and their inherent limitations.

The mind may very well know all about what has gone before, but it does not know why. The mind may very well hold all of life’s Past Data, but it does not hold all of life’s information (which is another thing altogether). The mind may very well contain knowledge, but it does not contain wisdom.

Wisdom lies outside the mind. Wisdom resides within the soul.

That is why we need to hold both handles of this magnificent tool of creation that I shall now call by its proper name: YOU.

Let me make something very clear. “Facts” and “awareness” are not the same thing. We can know all the facts about gravity, but if we do not have an awareness of why gravity works, we know nothing. We can know all the facts about electricity, and we can even use electricity, but if we have no awareness of what electricity is and of why it works, we know nothing. We can know all the facts about light, and we can even use light, but if we have no awareness of what light is and of why it works, we know nothing.

Likewise, we can know all the facts about change, but if we have no awareness of what change is and of why it occurs, we know nothing.

For instance, we may not know that…

Nothing changes for the worse. Everything only changes for the better.”  Read more in the book, When Everything Changes, Change Everything-a book than can truly change your life.

Shared with Love and a prayerful intention to change for the Better!

God Is All There Is

Oneness or Unity is the most important cosmology you will ever understand.  It can be summed up in the simple statement, God is all there is.  Take a moment now and reflect on the meaning of this.

Oneness is all inclusive and very simple; however the reality in this ego world is separation struggles to maintain a hold on life. Ego demonstrates thru turmoil, conflict, hate, fear, loneliness and death. The only way to move beyond the illusion of separation is to embrace it; to see it for what it is; an illusion. When something comes up you recognize as separation, simply acknowledge it, see beyond it and then just leave separation behind. Ignore it, it has no power. Instead focus on the Truth. The Truth is we are One unified and whole being. We are Gaia!

Oneness is Unity expressed, it is love thy neighbor as thy love’s oneself, it is making decisions with the consideration of seven generations to come, it is knowing we are all made of ‘Starstuff’, and it is so much more. Oneness is the realization that everyone you meet is a part of YOU, and you are Great Spirit, Universal Intelligence, or God. You have this in common with everything as well as everyone you meet.  They are you and you are they.  Each person is individual and connected at the same time.

What you give, you give to yourself, since we are all one.  What you deny for another, you deny yourself.  What you say about another you say about yourself!  What comes around goes around…When you heal yourself – you heal the world!  You are using the same mind as Albert Einstein or Mother Theresa.   You are ONE with GOD, in a word you are GOD, expressing as the individual you are.  Each form or “thing” you see is unique onto itself.

No two snowflakes are the same, yet a snowflake is similar to all other snowflakes. This goes for all other forms as well, rain drops, grains of sand, trees, people, etc.  And even in each moment you are different.  The “you” of last week is different from the “you” of now, which is depicted in this picture of Neo from the Matrix Movie.  The Divine Paradox is: all is the One/Same, yet appears separate/different.  When you meet someone new they are unique and yet they are YOU.  When life is lived from a place of Oneness we become aware of the bond that connects all of life and things are never the same again!

“What is arising now is not a new belief system, a new religion, spiritual ideology, or mythology. We are coming to the end not only of mythologies but also of ideologies and belief systems.  The change goes deeper than the content of your mind, deeper than your thoughts.  In fact, at the heart of the new consciousness lies the transcendence of thought, a newfound ability of rising above thought, of realizing a dimension within yourself that is infinitely more vast than thought.” Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth, Page 21-22

This dimension is the Oneness I speak of.  It is something which must be experienced to truly be known, and once the connection is made it becomes a part of you and cannot be lost.  By simply being aware of this Oneness you are shining light on the shadows and allowing yourself to move beyond thought into the light.

On the New Earth each person is aware of Oneness and how it relates to them and the rest of existence.  As we look around the realization connects – this is exactly what is happening now all over the world!  People are awakening to Divine Oneness and embracing the New Earth.

Charity?

Here is an article on Charity from Unity in Gender Diversity website which I share now in light of Hurricane Sandy.  We are all in this together.

What is charity and why is it important, or more to the point – is it important?  Buddha and Jesus practiced a form of charity that can only be described as generosity and agape.  The dictionary defines charity as “generous actions or donations to aid the poor, ill, or helpless, as in something given to a person or persons in need”. The key words here to me are generous and given, but that is contrasted with “in need”. So let’s look at need. The dictionary defines need as a lack of something wanted or deemed necessary, or an urgent want, as of something requisite. Again words jump out and help to further understand this question. The words lack and want present themselves. Are you getting a clearer picture now?  This can be very confusing, so let me go deeper for you. In order for me to do that, I need to share my cosmology or understanding of Universal Law with you.

“There is but one mind, the mind of God and that mind is my mind now!” This quote by Ernest Holmes says it all. There is only one! One mind, one God, one Source, and in order for this one source of all to experience itself fully it chose to individuate or diversify. We are each an individual point or part of the whole. This being true, we are each “made in the image of our creator” or an extension of GOD! We are not separate, not some toy God made to amuse itself and not at God’s mercy. We are God’s Mercy! All that we do is an extension of God. Sort of like agents for GOD. Of course this is merely the surface, but you get the point. Who and what we are can be taken much deeper, but that is beyond the scope of this article. Let’s get back to charity. Now that we know what it is, let’s look at why or if it is important. This question is much trickier.

How do we decide what is important? Does someone else tell us that or do we decide? For the sake of this article let us just say that whatever is important in this world is up to you. Bottom line, nothing is important lest you make it so! I reached this conclusion after much contemplation and meditation, not to mention real life trials and tribulations. So once again why is or is not charity important? This is something that only you can answer, so make up your own mind. (This is why we individuated!) My role here is to share my perspective and hopefully deepen our understanding of this concept, Charity.

The way I see it is we each make choices every day and as we do this one thing leads to another and we experience “that which we create” – our Lives! Life is made up of a combination of choices and fate (choices we made before we were born). Each experience we have is from a choice we made at some point in our eternal journey of Life. It is not up to us to judge these experiences as good or bad, but to simply experience them to the fullest of our capacity. So how does one decide who is “in need”? Who gets to choose your wants or desires? Who decides who is lacking and what they lack? Take your time here as these questions are pivotal to the future of mankind!

I feel that it is our individual decision to make the choice of what we want or desire! Another important concept is the mirror principal, which states that what you see is a reflection of your thoughts! What you see is what you get! OUCH! or Ahh HA!

If you see LACK you are experiencing lack, therefore you are thinking and acting it also! You are creating the very thing you are trying to eliminate!!! NEED! (Because what you see is what you get) This is a paradox of our dualistic world, but it is Universal Law. By providing charity, you are creating the need for charity and thus is the paradox of all life activities here on earth. For example, when you meet a person on the street who is limping with a crutch( see the little Cratchit boy, Tiny Tim), what thoughts go thru your mind? Most use the ego mind which attempts to explain the condition of the person we meet (poor little tiny Tim – feel sorry for him), but I would suggest to you now that the truth is not evident to our human eyes! Consider the possibility that Tiny Tim chose his experience, just for the experience of it. Who are you to judge it as good or bad? The Spirit self or Christ within knows nothing of good or bad, it only is!   Now when we go on a “Charity Trip to an impoverished country” what are we really doing? In my opinion we are attempting to rescue ourselves from false belief. Do we see Christ’s children being the best humans they can or do we see “a poor starved child”? Do we see lack? Or do we see Abundance of Spirit expressing as it chooses? When we see a homeless person sleeping under a tree or begging for money in the subway, what goes through our mind? Is that a choice? Of course a choice has been made, the deeper question is why? I still do not believe that it is up to me to decide for another their experiences. If a person is in harm’s way and I am able to assist them, I will, but only if they ask. If someone asks me for assistance, I will always do what I can! This is the tricky part, giving is receiving and we all enjoy receiving, so why not help everyone? Maybe not everyone needs our help. Maybe our need to be needed is the very problem to start with! Asking if they would like assistance is still assuming that they are needy. I am here to see them as happy, healthy and vibrant; nothing less will do!

So let me recap for you. Charity for the sake of “the poor, the sick or downtrodden” is a self fulfilling prophecy. The giving of Charity to a person who asks is simply put, Agape. This is the Charity Jesus practiced. He saw each person he met as the Christ fully realized and in this was the gift! This is the gift we can give each person we meet! If we see a person as one way or the other that is what you get! So why not see them as the Christ? If they ask for something give it to them, but let’s not go looking for needy people, so that we can feel good about how good we are.  The Buddha said that “If beings knew, as I know, the results of giving & sharing, they would not eat without having given, nor would the stain of selfishness overcome their minds. Even if it were their last bite, their last mouthful, they would not eat without having shared, if there were someone to receive their gift. But because beings do not know, as I know, the results of giving & sharing, they eat without having given. The stain of selfishness overcomes their minds.” Khuddaka Nikaya, Itivuttaka I.26   Life is so simple, easy is up to you!  I think that this is what is meant by the quote, “Be the Peace you desire in this world”. Share of what you have, be kind to others, and see Peace everywhere you go. See beyond the apparent chaos, and the illusion of war. See Peace! Now this is Charity!

Do Your Habits Serve You?

Do your habits serve you?  I mean we all have habits.  Some of them serve you well like brushing your teeth before going to bed and some do not, like using cuss words.  Animals do the same thing and in fact more so.  Paths are paved through the forest by animals taking the same path over and over.  They look for food in the same place, sleep in the same spots and go to the watering hole the same time every day.

Since we are animals on one level, we too have habits, but unlike animals we can use our habits to our advantage.  For instance, say you have a hard time keeping up with your car keys or cell phone.  If you create a habit of always putting the keys in your purse or pocket it makes them easier to find.  Keeping your cellphone in the same place(s) also helps when the phone rings you know where to look.

Habits can be extended to any aspect of living and take 28 days to create.  This means you must do the same thing over and over for 28 days, without variation.  This may seem difficult but with some practice it is not hard at all.  The wonderful thing is the same method is used to break habits.

Say you are going to drop the habit of using cuss words.  This is done by replacing the old habit with a new one.  First of all choose substitute words, ones that make you feel good and ask your partner and friends for reminders as you go about your life.  If you slip up, no worries, simply moving on by repeating the desired term(s) and forgiving yourself (mentally).

So let us review, identify the desired change or habit to create, ask for support, practice for 28 days straight and wah-lah, your habits are serving you now!  An important aspect of this is to stay positive and non-judgmental; with patience and persistence anything can be accomplished.  It also helps to examine how your habits serve you.  Even “bad” habits serve you in some way so understanding this will make it easier to replace them with others which better support you.  Food is often used as a comfort, but this is not necessarily bad when used in moderation.  Alcohol can be a good socialization tool when not used to excess.  Things in and of themselves are not good or bad, it is what we make of them.  How are you going to use this new tool for success?

The Galactic Alignment

Are you feeling it?  What? …The Galactic Alignment of course.  Depending on who you are listing to this is either an event of monumental significance or simply another galactic event which will pass with many being unaware.  NASA is down playing the significance of this event as no more important than an eclipse or meteor shower.  While others namely the Mayans, Hopi, and Peruvians are predicting major changes on the order of magnetic pole shifts, and other earthly changes.  (Interesting video on this topic)

The most important aspect of this shift is it correlates to the end of the zodiac cycle and the beginning of a new one.  We are actually between two ages and thus the conflict of different energies is “stirring the pot” so to speak.  The Age of Pisces is ending and the Age of Aquarius is beginning.  Precise dates have not been agreed upon so we will use a range of dates and let the individual decide for themselves.  Suffice it to say we will be definitely in the Age of Aquarius by 2060, although Dec, 21 2012 is very significant as a tipping point in the shift.

Here is an explanation of the galactic alignment which I feel describes it very well.  Written by John Major Jenkins

“It is important to define what the Galactic Alignment is in precise astronomical terms. The Galactic Alignment is the alignment of the December solstice sun with the Galactic equator. This alignment occurs as a result of the precession of the equinoxes. Precession is caused by the earth wobbling very slowly on its axis and shifts the position of the equinoxes and solstices one degree every 71.5 years. Because the sun is one-half of a degree wide, it will take the December solstice sun 36 years to precess through the Galactic equator. The precise alignment of the solstice point (the precise center-point of the body of the sun as viewed from earth) with the Galactic equator was calculated to occur in 1998 (Jean Meeus, Mathematical Astronomy Morsels, 1997). Thus, the Galactic Alignment “zone” is 1998 +/- 18 years = 1980 – 2016. This is “era-2012.” This Galactic Alignment occurs only once every 26,000 years, and was what the ancient Maya were pointing to with the 2012 end-date of their Long Count calendar.

Position A is where the December solstice sun was in relation to the Milky Way some 3,000 years ago. Position B is 1,500 years ago. And position C is “era-2012”, when the December solstice sun has converged, as a result of the precession of the equinoxes, with the exact center-line of the Milky Way (the Galactic equator). Notice that the place of alignment is where the ‘nuclear bulge’ of the Galactic Center is located.” (Jenkins 2012)

The event is like a border zone between two countries of which we are passing from one to another.  We are swimming the Rio Grande, coming into the promise land.  The meaning of this is up to the individual, however on a grander scale the opportunity is for a realization of Peace on Earth and Good Will to Man. Some may consider it Heaven on Earth or an Enlightened Age.  The next 26,000 year cycle is beginning, so say good-bye to Pisces and hello Aquarius!

The High Road or The Low Road

There is a high road and a low road.  The high road leads straight to God and the low road takes the scenic route but eventually gets there.  It is important to understand which road you are on and to know you have a choice at any time to move to one or the other.  In fact many people jump back and forth between the two and get know where at all!  Jumping back and forth is like standing still because no momentum is built up on either path.  Choose a path and stick to it!

Now let us look at the paths so we know where we are.  The low road consists of actions of low energy such as gossip.  Just so you know: “Gos·sip [gos-uhp]  noun 1. idle talk or rumor, especially about the personal or private affairs of others: the endless gossip about Hollywood stars [or Political Candidates].” (Dictionary.com) (i.e. Political candidate tripped on the stairs today or He said so and so, how dumb is that?)  The low road has many characteristics of which most are the easy way out, serve only yourself or immediate family, and often feels really good, but only for a short while.

The High road by contrast is often riddled with pitfalls and risks.  It is all about serving others and can feel good or really bad.  In the end the feeling is wonderful, but this only comes after much effort and practice, often for years.  For example, instead of using gossip news is shared.  “News [nooz, nyooz]  noun  1. a report of a recent event; intelligence; information:” (Dictionary.com)  (i.e. Barack Obama was in Denver today for the Democratic National Convention.)

Other examples of the High road are caring for others, thoughtful actions, treating yourself well, and staying true to your principles.  Doing right despite what others are doing.  The high road is taken by yourself, but this does not mean you are alone.  It is a solitary path with great rewards.

Please be mindful of the path you are upon!  Stay aware of your actions and consciously choose the path which best serves you.  There is nothing wrong with taking the low road by the way, many do.  To learn more about this I suggest reading The Law of One Study Guide V.2 which is available free on the internet, just search the title.  I leave you with a prayer version of Psalm 1.

“Blessed are they

who walk not in the counsel of the wicked,

nor stands in the way of sinners,

nor sits in the seat of scoffers;

but delights in the law of the Land,

and on this law meditates day and night.

Like a tree

planted by streams of water,

that yields its fruit in its season,

and its leaf does not wither.

In all they do, they prosper.”
