We are One

The New Education

Our Educational System Needs a Major Overhaul

This is a thought exercise. A function of my Masters in Adult Education, an ordained Spiritual Peacemaker Minister, and observation tempered with my experience. The following is also a prayer. What is prayer you say? It is a thought held in confidence with intention and then projection. It is a knowing, all is as it needs to be. It is not the ego speaking to any divine being, and it is not any form of speaking at all. It is silent knowing.

The new world of Education needs more metaphysics and less right and wrong. We need our physical, in person schools for hands on topics like P.E., Music, Arts, Theater, and Vocations. The 3 R’s (Reading, wRiting, and aRithmatic) can be taught online and should be. Technology is our friend, so let’s use it to empower us. Our kids have a natural curiosity and this needs to be encouraged, rather than dictated. When I was in school, we were offered theories and asked to make up our own minds using the scientific method. There are certain topics where this is easy and appropriate like the sciences and others like the 3 R’s where it is more difficult. Flexibility and adaptability along with resilience are things which can be taught by valuing them in the first place. Let us prioritize these attributes. As an example, math is not just practical; it is a language of sorts. It is a way of thinking which we all need to learn. It is vital to creative thinking and actually increases intelligence with practice and application.

The pandemic showed us just how bad our educational system is. We need not go back to it! The thing about schools which parents love the most is free day care. This is sad. If it were up to me, I would make schools have flex hours and children would only go for 3-6 hours a day for only hands on subjects and be year around. The digital subjects would be done at home or for some who need it, in a monitored space in the school computer lab or a community center. We need to expect more from our children by giving them more responsibility earlier and holding them accountable. When they fail – forgive, forget, and try again… without the shaming. The person who learns the most, fails the most.

Obviously, K-6 grade curriculum would be different than what I offer above, which is provided to kids as they age in an increasing amount. I advocate for pedagogy with K-6th and androgogy for 7th-12th and beyond. Curriculum would be tailored to the student which is much easier when it is digital. If a child begins a hands-on class and does not seem to be doing well, they can and should be moved to a more appropriate class knowing they can come back to the class later or not at all; but give the child a say in the decision. The concept of treating all 6 year olds (or any age child) the same is just absurd. The stigma around taking a grade over in the old system was harmful. The danger comes from competition and encouraging comparison with your classmates. We are individuals and should be treated as such. Working together and pushing each other to succeed is the way to go. We are social animals and need this contact. The hands-on classes will provide this as well as to a lesser degree the online classes. Group study should be required in the upper grades and optional in the lower grades.

Moving on to implementation, K-6 students need structure coupled with play. They need attention coupled with affection, but not special love. The attention and affection are directed equally to each student. Some kids will need a firm hand while others will only need direction. If treated like intelligent people with supportive expectation, students will rise to the occasion. The emphasis in this stage of education is on the 3R’s. The other focus is on socialization. Think of school at these ages as half day summer camp. In the colder months classes are inside and when the weather permits class can be held outdoors, depending on the class. Guided group activities which include everyone, teaches our children to work with others. The guidance is to assure the child develops a sense of acceptance and self-esteem. A good teacher knows how to do these things. I know this because I have experienced it firsthand. I am grateful for all the excellent tutorage I have received over the years.

The 7th-12th grades are where more choice is introduced. Each student needs help with motivation and developing their innate gifts. When the child graduates from 6th grade, this is celebrated on an individual basis as appropriate. We must give the student a sense of accomplishment on a regular basis, while not allowing denigration of the slower students or the advanced students. Play at this stage comes in the form of exercise, sports, and physical activity. This is where the hands-on classrooms become so important. The child will be learning what they are good at, so it is important to encourage success and console failure. Always keep them moving forward. Special attention and babying are counterproductive, and thus not allowed.

The subjects offered digitally will include but are not limited to – the language arts, history, social sciences, classic sciences, mathematics, technology, and health & hygiene. Just to make it clear, by digital I mean both live streaming on a limited basis and recorded course work. These are general areas of education with the more choices the better. Certain classes would be required for graduation from a certain level/grade of study. At the end of a grade and in order to advance the student must pass both written and oral testing. Cheating is monitored and punished with requiring the class be repeated. It is hard to cheat on oral testing. If the class is hands on, then a skill must be demonstrated. The next level of study would begin with a test of the students’ knowledge so moving forward is directed effectively and the teacher gets to know their students. This also re-enforces their learning. The test need not be long or complicated.

The hands-on classes would include as stated above, P.E., Music, Arts, and the Vocations. Several of each would be required at each grade level, lessening the amount required and focusing more on choices at each higher grade level. This will guide the student in finding their gifts and giving them increasing levels of choice as they grow. Each hands-on class will take place in an appropriate location with the appropriate tools. The expense of the tools/instruments of learning are covered for each student one time. If it/they are lost or damaged the student must repair or replace them. If the child is indigent, then they can work after school or on a project of their choice to earn the replacement. They are paid like any person their age and skill level.

In my day extracurricular activities were encouraged but not required. I do believe these are important and not to be denied the less advantaged. I am speaking of summer camp type activities like camping, boating, hiking, nature walks learning to observe and identify life, and survival skills. It also includes board games, group games, and immersive games. Since school is year around in the new Education platform, these activities take place during free time, before, after, or on days off from class.

Technology plays a part in all this, but it is not the focus, it is a tool for learning. Some will choose to make it more a focus as they grow, although when younger the hands-on activities would be emphasized. These classes will be online mostly, with hardware classes being hands on. All students would be required to demonstrate a proficiency with basic technology use and theory.

We have no need of building more schools, rather we should be supporting free internet for all, or at least providing it free to those at or below poverty level. This goes for the tech to use it as well. Community centers should have computer labs with a monitor/volunteer to help those who use them. Of course, they will be making sure they are used appropriately too. One trend which is troubling is the ease in which we make ourselves anonymous online. All technology used to access the internet should be traceable as well as who the user is by use of a built-in camera. Sort of like what Tesla does to protect the owner’s vehicle. Let’s all be accountable for our actions! Privacy is highly overrated. What do you have to hide? Freedom does not include the right to violate the free will of any other.

Getting back to Metaphysics in Schools, we teach physics, so why not metaphysics? Please understand, this is not religion, though both science and religion are included in Metaphysics. The prefix “Meta” just means beyond, so let’s go beyond the science and leave religion out of it. Just because most religions operate in the realm of metaphysics does not mean they master it. On a certain level science is just another religion. Metaphysics takes us to source and shows us how the world works at the core level. It is woven through every subject. English and the languages are heavily laden with metaphysics in the form of metaphor, mythology, and motivation. What scares most educators and parents is the use of the word “God” because it has so many meanings to so many different people. This makes no difference, think of it as source, Divine Source. When reading this word replace it in your mind with one that has meaning for you and move on. Don’t let it be a barrier. We all end up interpreting the world through our own lens anyway, so why not expand your focus and your field of view?

To review, Education has become expensive and ineffective. Using technology is the way forward. Schooling can be integrated more into society leaving the “day care” to those with less training and actual instruction to those who are qualified. By using technology, instruction can be applied by a few individuals to many. Metaphysics will deepen and broaden our children’s understanding of all subjects by giving them the key to living. Though I did not mention it above, our classes also need to be more practical and helpful in everyday living. While being less political and religious. Ultimately, it is the parent’s responsibility to educate their children, both by proxy (a teacher or mentor) and by their own instruction.

Love Is

The reason Truth can be hard to find is because we look in the wrong places. It’s not out there, it is in here. Truth is Universal and while we all have personal truths, these are not definitive. My spiritual journey has taken me all over the map (figuratively). When I found A Course in Miracles, I knew I was home. Science of Mind was an important step on this journey along with the New Thought Movement and Centers for Spiritual Living (formally known as Religious Science). Many of our early experiences tell us where we do not belong and what does not work for us. I know this was my experience with Christianity in its many forms. The trick is knowing which voice to listen to. If it is painful in any way to anyone, then no, this is the voice of ego. Constantly, question reality, all ways, and always. Sequoia’s Philosophy for Living

This is the basis I used to write my eBook, Livin’ Large. It was written way back in 2007, before my transition, the year I was ordained. The free eBook is available on this website.

What you focus on grows

Or in science language – an object in motion tends to stay in motion. The more you move in a certain direction the harder it is to change that direction or the more energy it takes to change. Remember thoughts are things!

Mind your own business

Your business is your life and affairs, stay positive about this and all will improve. When you help another, you help yourself, because we are all one. One Life, One Mind, One Love

Like attracts Like

Life is a mirror of your thoughts about who you believe you are. It is a reflection of your beliefs, so you will attract like you think. Positive feelings attract positive experiences.

Everything happens for a reason

The reason is you held this thought for whatever purpose. Often, we are not even aware of our thoughts. Awareness is the door to growth and enlightenment. Know that we are protected in ways we cannot even imagine and a foundational belief in Goodness is apparent wherever we look.

I am Ready

Yes is the attitude that brings your desires. Often when presented with an opportunity we reflex respond with no – thinking this will protect us, but from what? Be patient, know that you are ready for anything that my come your way. YOU CREATED IT.

What you say is True

Why would you say something that is not true? More importantly your beliefs make it true! In order to say something, the thought must come to you, if it came to you it was attracted by your beliefs and actions, which makes it TRUE to you. This is a personal experience, so mind your own business and observe the Truth all around you. Hold your dreams close and focus on that which you desire not that which you don’t. If a thought comes to you and you disagree, kick it out! And be mindful of your actions.

Everything you say is a prayer

Going along with the above, when you say it, you are expressing your thoughts and putting focus on it, moving it closer to reality or fixing it there. Express your truest desires not your fears. Share your dreams, so that they may be true.

Heaven is a state of mind

Our thoughts create our world, so why not think of your life as heaven. What would heaven be like? How would the experience feel? How would it appear? Once you realize that you have a choice to see heaven or hell, it is easy to make that choice.

Peace is always present, though not always apparent

We live in a world that seems discordant and fearful sometimes, however everything exists all the time, it is just where we focus our attention. Have you ever been watching a movie and had a blissful time only to emerge from the theatre to realize something awful happened right next door? You know what I mean. I hear stories of how awful something is all the time and then I go, and it is wonderful. How can this be? What do you believe? What are you focused on?

Energy is neither created nor destroyed, it simply changes form.

Energy makes up the universe and everything within it. What this means is nothing is ever lost, and everything is. The experience of a waterfall is just that, an experience. Each of us experiences it differently and it is there until it is not, when it changes form to be whatever it becomes. The butterfly is often used for this analogy. This is also what is meant when it is said that we never do die. We simply change form. The body is energy and the deeper or smaller we go we realize that everything is energy! We give this energy a name – Love, God, Ether…. I am that I am.

Love is the Answer

See love everywhere you go, in everything you do, and in everything you say. If perhaps this doesn’t happen every time, forgive yourself and others and move on. What you focus on will grow!

Morality vs Ethics, and Maturity

Topics which most of us rarely think about, yet this morning they became quite clear to me. I have of course looked them up before and been schooled on the subjects over my lifetime, both by book and by life. My sharing today will not be in depth, because how deep you go with this is up to you. The level of importance you place on it is again your choice. To me this topic adds value to life and makes it worth living. So, Here we go.

Stated as simply as I can, Morality is Social and Ethics is personal. Maturity is the level at which an individual embraces the two. Maturity demonstrates all around us constantly. Do you see it? Take trees for instance. They grow from seeds, change with the seasons, and eventually spread seeds of their own. The cycle repeats. Maturity is the point at which the plant sows seeds and yet there are levels to maturity. All plants sow seeds, so perhaps the point at which a tree stops sowing seeds and trusts in all it has sown that the tree becomes mature. For us, maturity then is the point at which we share our wisdom and make our mark, so to speak. Having made our mark, we then focus on helping others make theirs. To me, this is maturity. In human terms this would be at the grandparent stage or if like me you have no children, it is the point of retirement, more or less.

Morality comes into play every day, though not through learning, but by intuition. Everyone knows what is right and ethics is their demonstration of it, thus Morality. The Ten Commandments are morality and our individual expression of them is ethics. So one could say, Morality is intuitive while ethics is a personal choice. It doesn’t have to be the commandments one follows, it can be the 4 Noble Truths, or The Constitution, etc.. The point is morality comes naturally, some call it common sense, and it applies to us all. Ethics on the other hand is how one chooses to follow, or not, what we know is right.

Ethics comes into play constantly in life, yet how often do you consider it? I would say a lot more than you realize. Ethics is our level of compromise with Morality. “Though shall not commit adultery”, just as an example. At what point do you rationalize your actions as being “Okay” to satisfy your inner urges? There is no end to the power of rationalization! Humans are masters at it. Or should I say the Ego is a master at it, for that is what the ego does. The ego can be characterized as the devil on your shoulder whispering in your ear. Which voice are you listening to? Morality or compromise?

Caution should be exercised here because our tendency is to judge things as good or bad. Our ethical choices are not to be judged, rather forgiven, when appropriate. Life is open for interpretation, so my advice is to take time to be still every day and listen to the small, quiet voice within and ignore the loud, insistent urgings of the ego. The choice is yours.

Motivations and Identity

What motivates you? And Why? Today, I would like to look into motives for our actions and the root cause behind our choices. If you are a student of ACIM (A Course in Miracles) you will know what I am going to refer to because our fear of God or more accurately fear of being separate from God motivates all our actions. The key motivator I wish to look at more closely is the opposite of fear.

Love and our desire for it sits behind all our actions. Who we choose as friends, who we are nice to, who we suck up to, etc. is all based in our desire for love. Let’s face it, we all wish to be loved! And to have the opportunity to share love. The path here gets foggy, because ego love is very different from Agape Love or God’s Love which we really desire. So what is it we really desire? We desire ourselves! We feel separated… from everything and we seek connection to the essence of self. I am the love I seek!

Moving on to identity, how does this relate to our desire for love? As I have said many times and as many religions teach, God is all there is. So as I understand God, God is Love, Peace, and Joy. Meaning that what we really seek is Love, Peace, or Joy. I think of these 3 words as being the same with slightly different definitions. Hebrew teaches 4 words for love and Greek has 6. So, defining love depends on the context and intent. For me these days, I focus on the Only Love that matters Agape, God’s Unconditional Love or simply, Unconditional Love. The other types help with defining relationships in human contact, but that is all. When a person says, “I love you”, what do they really mean? Who is it they love? If we are all One, then they are saying they love themselves. To love you is to love myself! However, only loving myself is narcissistic. So, in order to truly love, we must have others (other self). This is the very reason for relationships!

If you look deep into your motivations I think you will find love at the source. Yes, fear may be on the surface and even covering the core, hiding the reality of love, but love is there if you look for it. When we look out into the world whatever it is we see we attempt to relate to it, if we can relate we “like” it and if we can’t then we “don’t like” it. It is a case of I am that or I am Not that. We vacillate through phases of identifying with things and not depending on the feedback, almost like a single cell organism reacts to pain or pleasure. I believe our long term relationships last because it is easy for us to identify with the person we have chosen as our partner. Same goes for family relationships, though we are more forgiving with family because of perception of blood ties. Or not, LOL. Because we feel close to family we will be harder on the relationship, expecting more from them. Still our motivation is Love. I find it easy to love my family and at the same time difficult to look deeply at them for it is looking deeply within myself.

In conclusion, be aware of your actions without any judgment. Projection makes perception, so know the world you see is of your own making and forgive! This forgiveness is not because it is real, only for the believing it is. We are forgiving ourselves for our part in the game. Knowing the person sitting across from you is your reflection can be sobering and inspiring. Loving them through thought is all that is required. Nothing need be said and in fact it is better not to say anything. The less said the better, as the saying goes. This process is allowing that which is holy to flow through you and be reflected. If your perception is otherwise, just know you can choose again. Stop, look, and listen. Love!

Transphobia

Transphobia is no different than any other phobia or fear. It is a fear of the unknown. And the best way to deal with it is to educate yourself. Get to know someone who identifies as trans* or non-binary. My teachings and website exist to provide this education. Oneness is my message. Every person you meet brings you closer to who you are, One – All that is. Not the only one in this separated dualistic reality, but one snow flake or grain of sand.

The old teaching of ‘there are two sides to every story’ and ‘to know a person walk a mile in their shoes’ applies perfectly here. Obviously this applies to anyone whom you see as different than yourself based on race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, culture, size, nationality, or simply being an “outsider”. Believe it or not, transphobia exists within the GLBTQ community. Which really comes down to the basis of all discrimination, self-loathing or self hatred (I can’t stand the person I am, so I am going to project my hatred on to others, usually those near by or whom I identify with). This projection also works in the opposite by projecting our self love onto another. Taken to extreme this becomes idol worship. As I said, there are two sides to every coin. Though, just by being aware of this human tendency a person can choose to act differently. In effect, becoming a more loving and tolerant person.

So do not fear, being fearful. We all have fear to some degree, because if we did not, we would not be ‘here’. The least fearful of us are deified, like Jesus, Buddha, and many other saints. Now, let’s focus on the opposite of fear, Love. What you focus on, Grows. No need to obsess about differences, how about focusing on similarities. We all bleed red! And even if you met someone who didn’t, there are surely similarities.

What you seek you surely will find. Look for commonalities and ways to relate to your brothers and sisters. How another person identifies and presents to the world is up to them, your choice is how you react and behave. What you give you receive, so give Love… unless you wish otherwise, which is directly related to your level of fear. It may take time to continually choose Love, before this Love is reflected back. The nature of the Universe is balance so why not ‘front end load’ your experience with Love?

Intuition and the Six Senses of the Mind

This blog was first published over a decade ago (6 Senses of the Mind February 4, 2010) and recently I was reminded of just how important these often taken for granted tools are. We all know about the 5 senses of our physical body, but what about the 6 senses of the mind?  I have several blogs on these tools, so take this as a general overview.  For more specific info search each of these words from the home page. The six consist of Intuition, Imagination, Memory, Perception, Reason, and Will.  When used consciously these tools are your best friend and the funny part is we all use these senses every day without even realizing it.  Let’s take intuition for instance.  It is often referred to as the sixth sense and is attributed as women’s intuition.  Are you in touch with yours?  We all have this sense, even men!  In fact, the most successful people in the world, such as Bill Gates, Steven Jobs, and Oprah Winfrey attribute much of their success to using their intuition!  The way that I use this sense is to get in touch with my feelings, which takes a few minutes of being quiet and some practice.  After a while you will just know when an opportunity is advantageous or the direction you are headed in beneficial.  Is that guy or gal you just met the “one”?  By using your intuition, you will know!  You can just feel it!  Teenagers are usually very good at this when they are young, but sometimes if they get too much criticism, they shut down this faculty, so if you are one who has done this maybe it is time to get in touch with your intuition.  For illustrative purposes let me tell you of one of the fun ways I use my intuition.

I had just gotten out of a seminar at a local hotel, and it was about 3pm in the afternoon.  We had been going at it all day and I was hungry, so I asked myself as I was getting into my car, what am I in the mood for?  Mexican food came to my mind, and I could feel, smell, and taste a delicious Mexican Burrito with hot salsa dripping down, yum!  I started driving toward home, but since I was not from this city, I had no idea where to find a good Taqueria and this was before the days of smartphones.  I was driving down the interstate when the overwhelming sensation to turn came over me, so I got off at that exit.  I then focused on my feelings, and it felt like I should turn left, so I did.  I drove for about a mile, all the time keeping my eyes open and my mind on that delicious burrito.  As I came around a corner, I saw on the left side of the road the Mexican Taqueria that was to fulfill my appetite!  It was one of the best burritos I have ever had!

Go with the Flow

Fall Creek Falls, TN

Perhaps you’ve heard the saying, “Go with the flow”. Perhaps not. Let us consider the significance of that saying and the word, flow. What makes this saying so important and potent? The simple answer would be energy. Energy cannot be created nor destroyed yet it constantly moves. Either flowing from higher states to lower or vice versa. While energy can be in a steady state, it usually does not stay there for very long. We are not here to discuss physics so we will keep this simple as possible.

Spiritual energy is an oxymoron. Why, because Spirit has no energy… it exists beyond time and space. Energy only exists on the mental and physical plane. I used to speak about creation being thought-word-action and this sums up the basics here. Or to say it another way, Spirit-Mind-Physical. The role energy plays only matters (pun intended) when it comes to the mental/physical worlds. Energy is the juice that makes up everything in this world. It never completely stops, because if it did it would cease to exist.

Consider a river as the perfect example of flow. The water cycle entails world wide systems, constantly giving and receiving. Mental energy works like this too. As Spirit touches the mind, so the flow begins and it remains in flow till the physical falls apart and the cycle begins anew. The entire Universe is a closed loop system driven by Logos. Our role here is simply to be the river.

As we allow life to flow through us, so we experience what we know as “our” life. On a more personal perspective, it is your life or my life, or life itself. So, when we say, “go with the flow”, we mean it quite literally. On a superficial level the life we choose is under our control, and yet when viewed on a deeper level. We are the observer, row, row, rowing our boats, doing our best to enjoy the ride!

So the secret to Health and Prosperity is flow. The more flow the more of life’s vitals. My struggle here is to be in the flow, yet not of it. At times, I have totally succeeded with this, while most of the time, not. As I age I find it much harder to stay in the flow. My tendency is to judge the flow as good or bad, while all along attempting to manipulate it. I want more of this and less of that, LOL. News Flash, not going to happen! As I have stated many times before, life takes you where it needs you to be, not the other way around. Consider for a moment, Who is this “you” anyway? Perhaps you are simply an ego construct with which this game called life is played.

The point I wish to emphasize here is to have and to hold one must be in the flow. More specifically, energy flow of some sort. What you give, you receive… and remember, as soon as the flow stops, energy ceases to exist. Much of this flow is not even up to you. The heart beats, our bodies breath, and life exists without your intervention. So no worries if and when you take a break from it all. In fact, it is your intervention (wants and desires) which shortens your life. This is why we are always being told to “let go and let God”. Or to “go with the flow”.

Your Life is Not Your Own

The life we live comes with a construct. Each and every lifestyle choice comes with all the trappings, quite literally. What do I mean by lifestyle? I mean roles, occupations, and leisure activities including hobbies. Let me provide a few examples to illustrate what I mean. Say you decide to be a cyclist, this would require all the gear to go with this activity and the more serious you get the deeper down the rabbit hole you go… cycle clubs, contests, professional status, sponsorships, etc. Choose a career… Broker for instance, this leads to college, professional dress clothes, employment, and a certain expectation of behavior including circle of friends and associates, not to mention an aptitude for math and social skills. Maybe you simply chose to be a housewife or homemaker. This too comes with its own lifestyle trappings. If not children, then at least pets. If not cooking, then at least cleaning house. Even being homeless comes with a lifestyle!

I trust that by now you know what I am speaking of. Our lives are scripted by the choices we make along the path. While I cannot prove it, my understanding is we make many if not all the major choices of our life before we are born. Some call this fate. I really don’t care what it is called, it has been my experience. I have been steered to where I am now. Need some examples? I certainly did not choose to be Trans* unless I did … before I was born. Maybe sexual orientation and gender identity choose you like a magnet chooses its polarization for the purpose of balancing your energy? I have always felt like there is something going on below the surface which I cannot see. Like I was being watched or something. I choose to believe it is my Angels (Holy Spirit) guiding my path and leading me home.

Another example is my childhood dream of being a doctor like my father. I tried 3 times to pass college chemistry and never did, so what I did was find a medical career that did not require it. For some reason, Radiology came very easy to me. I seemed to understand all the physics involved quite easily and fortunately for me the chemistry involved was taken care of by others (film processing was all automated and now it is all digital so they don’t even use processing chemicals anymore). I remember early in my career dreaming of the day X-ray caught up to MRI and CT (cat scan). Eventually my love of Metaphysics lead me to my current life as a Spiritual Peacemaker. Passion eventually leads to your most fulfilling experiences.

Writing has been an interest of mine for over a decade now and for some reason I cannot get the idea of reinventing Story out of my head. We each have a story (our lives), though we are not our story. We are much larger than any story or lifetime. What is next for me has yet to be revealed, even to me. This is something which will percolate for a while longer, though it evolves every day as my understanding of story expands.

Poverty or Wealth are also lifestyles and we choose them without even realizing it. Time and again poverty has been proven to be a mindset and a violent one at that. Wealth is often something one is born into, because if wealth came from hard work their would be millions of millionaires. This is not to say with the right mind set, some hard work, and smarts anyone can be a millionaire. Though I will argue that if the invisible and intangibles are figured in we are all millionaires. Economic cast is built into the system, though it need not be. Like I mentioned before, we choose our path if not before birth, certainly along the way. So there is nothing wrong with Poverty at the surface. I have always admired Monks for their devout lifestyle and I have chosen to live my own version of a devout life. It is my choice to put my faith in the Great Spirit to provide and if that means this life is cut short then so be it. Faith by choice means this life journey will be fulfilled.

Perhaps you’ve read or watched the story, Cloud Atlas? In any regard, it is an intertwined story of six lifetimes for four main characters. One of the premises of the story and what the lifetimes demonstrate is, “Our lives are not our own. We are bound to others, past and present, and by each crime and every kindness, we birth our future.” (David Mitchell, Cloud Atlas). Meaning everything you think, do, or say is connected with the great whole, with others in this lifetime, and with all other lifetimes. So with this knowledge what comes next? Perhaps you are more cognoscente of your choices and their path (consequences). Maybe you can lean into your life now, knowing all will play out just as it is intended. The only inevitability is the ego will die and maybe this is a good thing.

Past Life Regression (PLR) takes a person back to experiences of past lives’ using hypnosis. It usually requires a hypnotherapist to facilitate and guide the process, though I have had meditative experiences which I will get into later. This blog is my take on the benefits and validity of PLR.

Whether or not you believe in PLR will determine your experience with it. Know that it is a therapeutic tool and nothing more, though some use it just for fun. Belief is the foundation for most of human experience because beyond belief means beyond space/time. “Belief is the state of mind in which a person thinks something to be the case, with or without there being empirical evidence to prove that something is the case with factual certainty.” (Wikipedia.org)

Ok, so here is my take on PLR: …Life is but a dream. ‘there is but One Mind, the mind of God…’ (Ernest Holmes). As an extension then, any memories of your life in the past or future come from this One Mind. There is no “your” memories, only memories you have access to. As an individual you only connect with the One Mind through a small thread. This connection can be expanded through the use of meditation or hypnosis. Guidance makes this easier and safer (if your connection breaks it leads to insanity – this usually happens with the use of psychedelic drugs such as LSD or Ayahuasca). Self-hypnosis can also be used though it is not recommended. I prefer meditation because it is simple and with practice most profound. The difference between meditation and hypnosis is meditation is a one way connection like watching TV while hypnosis is a two way connection like video chat so this is where difficulties can arise without trusted guidance.

PLR takes you through the sea of thought and shows you events or moments from a collection which most resonates with your individuated signature. For example, I have the memory of being a Gladiator back in Roman times. I was 7ft tall, gay, and one of the most successful fighters of the day with thousands of kills. Another memory is as a Viking, though I believe I must have had many lifetimes in this society since I have both male and female memories of both pillaging and caring for my partner. Now it could be argued these memories are from this lifetime as I viewed them on some sort of media and I will not discount this perspective.

My experience with guided hypnosis PLR had limited results. I remember a lifetime in England as a wealthy merchant, surrounded by my possessions and alone. I was a hoarder of sorts and in doing so alienated any and all others. It was a very possessive lifetime of which I feel sad, and the lessons were hard won. I found it difficult to relax during the sessions and did not pursue them further due to this and limited funding. Most of my work around PFR has been through meditation which I used to do daily and still do frequently. There are other meditative experiences one can have such as astral projection and out of body experience. While I find these interesting I feel they are of limited use to me now. What I really am intrigued with is Life between Life regressive hypnosis and if you wish to know more about this I recommend reading Dr. Michael Newtons books, starting with ‘Journey of Souls’.

So what are the takeaways from all this? First of all the power of the mind is not to be underestimated. I can say without any doubt I have been amazed by the One Mind repeatedly. I am grateful for this experience I call my life. Secondly, Meditation is the tool most useful to the average seeker. For those wishing to take it to the next level explore hypnosis and use an experienced practitioner. Do your research and know what you are getting into. Thirdly, Don’t take it too seriously. Which goes for all of life IMHO. Fourth, PLR is a therapeutic tool which when used effectively will advance your “Journey of Love”.

Space Travel Absurdity

The nature of life stems from source to destination or experience of said life. In spiritual terms, Logos is this source. In our solar system the Sun is Logos, it is literally the source of all life here including all planets (sub-logos), humans (sub-sub-logos), plants and animals (sub-sub-sub-logos) etc. In the vernacular of the Law of One, it goes by density of life, but that is not important to this discussion, so I will recommend reading the Law of One if you are interested in more detail, links on my website. The point I make here is simply that all life in this solar system is dependent on the Sun or Our Logos. In science fiction there is the premise that life forms can exist anywhere in the Universe and still maintain that form, such as in Star Trek or Star Wars where the characters travel around to different galaxies and solar systems almost willy-nilly.

This would not be the case in reality. Humans can only exist here on Earth, we are a function of our Logos and Sub-logos. If we move to Mars for instance we become a function of Mars or its Sub-logos. In effect we would become Martians. The function of time would be logarithmic, though exactly what it would mean to humans living on Mars is yet to be determined.

The Expanse books and tv series contrary to conventional sci-fi demonstrate my point nicely. In the story humans who live in the outer rim or asteroid belt are physically different than those who live on earth and cannot, without assistance, return to earth. Even those living on Mars have to take some sort of pill to tolerate the gravitational and light differences. Over greater time they would at some arbitrary point cease to be human in my estimation. It is sort of like we have different races here on earth depending on location and environment. Same thing in space, just more pronounced.

There is but One, the mind of God, that mind is my mind, now! Each logos comes from the central or the One, thus the Law of One. God is all there is. Use this knowledge as a basis for all else. On the level of form, time/space and space/time rules all. So, this means Mars being further away from the Sun/Logos will create a different environment than Earth or any other planet and thus create different life forms. I call this the power of Place and anyone who has traveled to any extent knows of what I speak. If you have felt the difference traveling from temperate to tropical or arctic then just imagine the differences going to Mars or some other planet.

Thus the idea or premise of conventional sci-fi is false and humans could not exist in other galaxies. I am not even sure our form would survive for short periods of time. I am not saying that sci-fi doesn’t make fun stories, because I love them. Let’s just remember to discern the difference between fiction and the true level of form taking sci-fi metaphorically and not literally. The notion that we will eventually leave Earth and explore the galaxy is absurd to me. We will live our lives out here and perhaps in the next incarnation exist elsewhere in the Universe depending on our individual evolution and density, as described in the Law of One books. Projection makes perception.

Role Models

5 Qualities of Positive Role Models

The top five qualities of role models described by students in my study are listed below. These qualities were woven through hundreds of stories and life experiences that helped children form a vision for their own futures. By far, the greatest attribute of a positive role model is the ability to inspire others.

1. Passion and Ability to Inspire

Role models show passion for their work and have the capacity to infect others with their passion. Speaking of several of his teachers, one student said, “They’re so dedicated to teaching students and helping students and empowering students. That is such a meaningful gesture. They are always trying to give back to the next generation. That really inspires me.”

2. Clear Set of Values

Role models live their values in the world. Children admire people who act in ways that support their beliefs. It helps them understand how their own values are part of who they are and how they might seek fulfilling roles as adults. For example, students spoke of many people who supported causes from education to poverty to the environment. Role models helped these students understand the underlying values that motivated people to become advocates for social change and innovation.

3. Commitment to Community

A role model is other-focused as opposed to self-focused. Role models are usually active in their communities, freely giving of their time and talents to benefit people. Students admired people who served on local boards, reached out to neighbors in need, voted, and were active members of community organizations.

4. Selflessness and Acceptance of Others

Related to the idea that role models show a commitment to their communities, students also admired people for their selflessness and acceptance of others who were different from them. One student spoke of her father, saying “He never saw social barriers. He saw people’s needs and acted on them, no matter what their background or circumstances. He was never afraid to get his hands dirty. His lifestyle was a type of service. My father taught me to serve.”

5. Ability to Overcome Obstacles

As Booker T. Washington once said, “Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which one has overcome.” Young people echoed this sentiment, showing how they developed the skills and abilities of initiative when they learned to overcome obstacles. Not surprisingly, they admire people who show them that success is possible.

Seven Traits of Role Models

1. Demonstrate confidence and leadership. A good role model is someone who is always positive, calm, and confident in themselves. You don’t want someone who is down or tries to bring you down. Everyone likes a person who is happy with their achievements but continues to strive for bigger and better objectives.

2. Don’t be afraid to be unique. Whatever you choose to do with your life, be proud of the person you’ve become, even if that means accepting some ridicule. You want role models who won’t pretend to be someone they are not, and won’t be fake just to suit other people.

3. Communicate and interact with everyone. Good communication means listening as well as talking. People are energized by leaders who explain why and where they are going. Great role models know they have to have a consistent message and business plan, and repeat it over and over again until everyone understands.

4. Show respect and concern for others. You may be driven, successful, and smart, but whether you choose to show respect or not speaks volumes about how other people see you. Everyone notices if you are taking people for granted, not showing gratitude, or stepping on others to get ahead.

5. Be knowledgeable and well rounded. Great role models aren’t just “teachers.” They are constant learners, challenge themselves to get out of their comfort zones, and surround themselves with smarter people. When team members see that their role model can be many things, they will learn to stretch themselves in order to be successful.

6. Have humility and willingness to admit mistakes. Nobody is perfect. When you make a bad decision, let those who are watching and learning from you know that you made a mistake and how you plan to correct it. By apologizing, accepting accountability, and correcting course, you will be demonstrating an often overlooked part of being a role model.

7. Do good things outside the job. People who do the work, yet find time for good causes outside of work, such as raising money for charity, saving lives, and helping people in need get extra credit. Commitment to a good cause implies a strong commitment to the business.

True role models are those who possess the qualities that we would like to have, and those who have affected us in a way that makes us want to be better people. They help us to advocate for ourselves and take a leadership position on the issues that we believe in. (The Seven Traits of a Role Model (caycon.com) )

Here’s what I look for in a good role model:

1. Honesty is the best policy. If a character is not honest with themselves and others they do not deserve respect. I can understand a coming of age story where the character learns the value of honesty by at first lying, then suffering the consequences and ultimately choosing the path of sincerity and Truth.

2. Faithful and Trustworthy are traits I honor the most. It is my goal and the goal I expect in characters I follow (people I know). The road for Role Models is a two-way street. This is their purpose. As I do, so do you. As above, so below. The world is my mirror.

3. Wholesome and Sense of Humor go well together because they are complimentary. Being whole requires a healthy sense of humor. The ability to laugh at difficulty and anything which makes no logical sense defines resilience in my view, though the role model does not laugh at people in a derogatory way. Good humor is a trait we can all respect.

4. Selflessness almost goes without saying. A good person is selfless! However, selflessness has its limits because one must take care of themselves if they are to go on caring for others. Which leads us to the next trait of a good role model, NOT being broken.

5. Most story telling these days requires the main character to be “broken”, because this makes the character more “interesting”. By broken, I mean major personality flaws or mental illness. While this tactic can be effective in an opposites attract sort of way, I believe this undermines the whole story by removing the character as a role model.

6. A good role model does the right thing when that can be determined. By “right thing” I mean the character has a strong moral code and sticks to it. Good stories often contain an ethical dilemma or moral issue the main character must deal with. If the story has characters who play both sides of things, as in good/evil, hero/villian, or simply a two-face character it weakens the impact of the story by maintaining confusion in the audience. A good role model is clear to the viewer.

So there you have it, 3 perspectives on Role Models. It is easy to see the overlap and by this you can come up with your own view on what makes a good role model. For clarity, I made my list before finding the others which were basically the top picks on a google search. I find that with a clear mind and intention internet searches will take you right where you need to be, giving you the answers you seek.

Obviously, not all characters in a story are role models, though I believe the main characters should be. For instance, in a romance story the love birds need to complement each other by both being role models or not. In stories with a clear villain the character will be an obvious opposite to the hero, though there may be a few traits in common to bring the characters into conflict.

The purpose of this blog is mainly for my own research into writing for the new millennium. It is creating a story for our evolution to 4th density or simply providing a story to aspire to. Evolution happens regardless of our desire for it. One’s desire and focus quicken the pace for it though. We should all have role models in our lives. For me it was my mother and to some degree my father. I can think of no other person besides my grandmother who really inspired me. I have had lots of good teachers and coaches over the years, though they were so temporary I can hardly call them role models.

My writing project in process can be found here if you are interested. I suppose I should clarify that role models have a very important place in story telling because without them, the story has no teeth, no purpose, no message in my view. Since our lives are our story, this applies to us as individuals as well. We are the authors of our life, after all.

Grace and Gratitude

It’s that time of year again, not that every day is not a day of grace and gratitude. We each have a choice as to how we celebrate. Go with the flow or rebel. What you resist persists, so give this some thought. Consider leading by example, “play” nice with your family and friends, even if they do not reciprocate.

The secret to powerful gratitude and prayer is both intention and emotion. So the object is to feel your gratitude as deeply as you can, to contemplate its meaning and purpose, and to imagine connecting to Source, (gratitude comes thru you not from you, so we are simply owning it).

Grace and Gratitude are two traits I have been developing all my life and I suspect you have also been developing these muscles maybe without even noticing! Without Gratitude life simply stops working. It is the grease that keeps the engine running. Grace is the way in which we do this. I invite you to test this right now! Not only does what you focus on grow, but that which you are grateful for is attracted to you. “Whatever we are waiting for – peace of mind, contentment, grace, the inner awareness of simple abundance – it will surely come to us, but only when we are ready to receive it with an open and grateful heart.” Sarah Ban Breathnach

Thanksgiving is one of the most important holidays and the Native American’s taught us one important thing about this holiday so please consider the following. The food you eat is a gift from Great Spirit (even if you paid for it). Life is being transformed to a Higher form by us eating it and giving our grace to the animal or plant that is offering it up. We always thank the animal or plant for giving its life so that we may live. It is a thought and a feeling that becomes a habit every time you consume something. “Grace isn’t a little prayer you chant before receiving a meal. It’s a way to live.” Attributed to Jacqueline Winspear.

Thanksgiving is a daily event, not just one day a year! Of course the holidays are about family and friends sharing gratitude for each other by sharing gifts. Remember gifts come in many forms and don’t always include a bow and wrapping paper. In this busy world of diverse business and world travel many families no longer live in close proximity so the holidays are an excuse to come together, even if it is only virtually. As far as gratitude and grace, well these are daily practices which we are reminded of and celebrate at least once a year at Thanksgiving. With practice, grace and gratitude becomes a daily habit and leads to a more joyous life.

ps. Remember that Thanksgiving comes before Christmas for a reason. Gratitude and Grace before Giving and Receiving!

Vicarious Living

To live vicariously means living life through someone else’s experiences rather than being a part of the events yourself. It requires immersing yourself in someone else’s world and emotionally or mentally making their achievements and setbacks your own. It allows you to experience rewards without having to risk your own failures. If you want to see a great way to do this check out my blog on SecondLife. I have done this throughout my life to good effect! Here I will attempt to explain how it can work for you and not against you.

First of all one needs to get out in the world and create experiences to feed your soul. Sitting at home behind a monitor or TV is fun for a start, but that is all it is. It’s a means of inspiration! You see someone paragliding and say, I can do that! Or you see a character in a show plotting revenge on their enemy and you think, how silly! Love they neighbor as yourself (at least this is what I think). We can learn from the mistakes of others even if they are fictitious. With the advent of the internet and instant video along with endless educational clips there is no excuse not to try it yourself, whatever IT is!

The power of the imagination is a tool for living safely. Rather than engaging in risky behavior, use your imagination instead, knowing and remembering all along it is just make-believe. I just watched a show where the lead character has a psychotic break and his fantasy world of heroes and villains becomes all too real. He kills the “bad” people who he had dreamed up in his graphic art. Actual people who had harmed him and his GF. Another example of how fantasy can be taken too far, my brother got up on the roof of our house to get a Frisbee and when getting down he jumped thinking the judo classes he had been taking taught him how to fall safely. Sadly, he broke his arm.

While there is some truth to the saying, no risk, no reward. I will caution you to take all relevant preparations before doing anything radical. Where this saying falls short I believe is in professional sports and extreme sports. I have seen some fantastic movie documentaries of people scaling frozen cliffs, free diving to extreme depths, and climbing through miles of caves with no harm and much thrill! Even me as a viewer shared in the exhilaration associated with their exploits. So in this case living vicariously works to your advantage!

An example where it works against you is when you watch your associates excel in their jobs and you do the minimum to get by. Continually you get passed over for promotion while you are living vicariously through them! This behavior most likely is rooted in a fear to put yourself in the line of fire so to speak. There is risk in self improvement, at least from the ego’s limited view. What if I am not good enough? And the fear becomes a self fulfilling prophesy.

So to bring this all together, question your motives for doing or not doing things. I totally get it, there is risk involved in life. Yes, you can (appear) to die, ie. loose your body. Which means this lesson begins anew, in a “new” life. This is why when you succeed the effects are profound, even if you don’t feel it. I have pictures of me standing on a finger ledge with a drop off of ~1000ft. Though on the way back a rock I stepped on gave way and I fell several feet till I caught myself. It was fun till it was terrifying! Hearing that rock bounce down the canyon wall was creepy and yet exhilarating. I safely got back and would probably do it again with a bit more caution. Doing it gives me a real sense of satisfaction I would not otherwise have. Some good advice I like to follow is prepare for the worst, expect the best.

The Simple Truth

Trans-gender is just that, changing gender identity from one to the other. The concept of a sex change has been promoted from the get go, way back in 1952, though what one really changes is gender, not sex. Our sex is determined by our DNA and as yet, is not changeable by man. The genitalia does not determine sex. Is a female who is post hysterectomy or mastectomy still female? Man or Woman are gender terms and thus determined through self identity with the assistance of social feedback. Eunuch is the term for a castrated male and as far as I can see applies perfectly to males post sexual reassignment surgery. Some have promoted the term Gender Reassignment Surgery and this is simply an attempt to justify their actions. I have met and known many people who identify as Trans* and it simply does not matter what their physical body says, their mind determines who they are. As feminine as I am, I am still male and I cannot run away from it.

Gender dysphoria has plague me since puberty, sometime being quite the burden and others where it did not matter at all. This is the pulse of Life itself. Purging is a natural function of the human mind. On again, off again seems so natural to me and I see it everywhere. Hobbies for instance often go through purging. We go all in with a hobby and 5-10yrs down the road we bore with it and change directions, only so many years later to come back to it. For me, gender identity is like this too. Hormone levels play a much bigger role in how feminine or masculine one feels, speaking purely from experience. Read my eBook if you wish to know more about hormones. I have been researching this topic now for over 40 years including personal experience.

You may believe otherwise from what I am presenting here and it really does not matter what you believe on the surface, it is your core beliefs (subconscious mind) which you experience. If you are Trans* (any identity other than conventional) then your inner self has emerged! Embrace it for what it is. Please do not judge it as either good or bad. It simply is what it is. Of course this depends on perception, so this is my attempt to live authentically, if that is even possible as a human being. I am awakening from the delusion that I can be anything other than what I was born to be.

Social Identity

How far are we to go with allowing self (ego) identity? Who really decides who you are? In reality, it is other self (others) who decides who you are. We all have our own ideas of who we are and the spectrum of sharing this to the world goes full circle. Some shout it out and other totally deny it. My question is does any of this really matter? Do you care how I identify? Probably not, caring only how you identify. If this be true, I ask what part does other self play in identity?

The spiritual teachings I have read, and I have read a great deal over the past 30 years, say other self is critical in our own identity. The world around us is an unconscious projection of who we know ourselves to be. Please understand, 99% of us do this automatically and with no realization of the value we surround ourselves with. Saying “I am that” as you look around can be valuable and it can also be deceiving. We are so much More!

Now let us relate this to society. If I am born XY/male, then can I really change sex later in life? From my experience, No. There is no changing our biological gifts, with surgery or by any other means. Psychological perceptions on the other hand are totally changeable. We can change our appearance and even our experience of the world. I will caution, as my psychologist did me, that only 5% of those who transition, do so completely from one gender to the other. Think of a bell curve. Most will fall in the middle somewhere. No judgment here, there is no right gender. Though, we can conclude here that sex and gender are vastly different things. Most of us are born one sex or the other, given that some are born intersex, and we are stuck with it till death. Intersex presents vast complications so I am not going down that rabbit hole in this discussion. Gender is self identified to a great extent through our interactions with society. How one presents to the world determines their gender. We all have the freedom to choose our presentation, at least after we become an adult. Puberty is where my gender came into question, to me anyway. I presented as my birth sex for 30yrs as I struggled to work out my identity. My presentation slowly went from masculine to androgynous to feminine. Along with this transition, I changed my name and documentation to represent this new gender.

Recently I have been questioning the validity of these document changes. It is too bad society does not make clear the difference between sex and gender, though I certainly do. If the form asks for my gender I say Female and if it asks for sex I say male. (Actually both my DL and Passport say otherwise and I really wish they did not, yet they must to live in this crazy world) This is why all forms should offer a third option and many are doing this very thing now days. I value honesty very highly and it is my opinion official documents should list both sex and gender, leaving “trans*” options out of the equation. Actually, if it is not medical or census related then the question should be skipped all together. Those individuals who were born XX should be required to list their sex as female and XY as male, with intersex being for those who do not fit the other two classifications. Then we should have the option to list our gender as Man, Woman, or Other. I figured out my identity many years ago, before transition as Male Woman. The term Transgender or the many others folks have come up with just do not apply to me, though they are valid as gender identities. My call here is to make this as simple as possible, stating sex/gender identity. I suppose some people will be Intersex/male or other gender. Let’s be honest, I know myself to be male and as a result so does society no matter how I present. If you truly believe yourself to be the opposite sex from your birth sex and present this to the world you can be said to have transitioned, however I don’t think it is really possible to authentically transition from one sex to the other. Sex change is a myth! Gender Identity though is something we discover as we mature. It can be something we play around with, go back and forth with, though ultimately we will land on one that fits and we stick with. Society will play its part in our gender identity, so pay attention to the reception you get over time. Give your other self their due!

Self Worth

Below is an interesting article which applies to our lives more than we know. Growing up with the pursuit of the rare and valuable is a metaphor for finding my own self worth. I am sure my family can relate. I laugh now because I can see it so clearly. Nothing wrong with it as it has a very useful message. Here is what I have learned.

Stop looking outside myself or even at my body for self-worth. Life can be amazing, yes, and it can be a wild goose chase too. It doesn’t matter how wonderful (or otherwise) it all is. The message is clear, love is found were we put it. This goes for whatever we seek, by the way. I love my birth family, those I grew up with, no questions asked. I always have. I wish I could say that about everyone I meet. Honestly, I don’t hate anyone and don’t remember ever hating anyone. A negative thought here and there sure. I get frustrated and angry like anyone else does and I have learned to let it go rather quickly. Point is, I am on an inner journey and sometimes I get distracted by “the world”. We all do.

I invite you to assess your life and what fulfills you the most. What brings you joy? The thrill of a chase? A rare find? A pretty object or image? How long does that joy last? Look beyond all the stereotypes we have forced down our throats daily. The American Dream is a myth and I suspect you already know that. Don’t let life distract you. For clarity, distractions are anything or anyone who does not support your spiritual journey. They can be the news, wants, pretty faces, warm cuddlies, hobbies, places, or any number of things.

Now I am asking you to consider letting go the material wealth (collectible stuff) you’ve built up over the years and let it fulfill others. (What you give, you receive.) Do this at a profit of course, wink, wink. Seriously, we don’t have to be poor to be spiritual. In fact, I think our bank account does reflect how we feel about our self-worth.

Things do not define us, unless you say they do. Saying or thinking so limits self considerably. Consider, who is the “I” in who you are? Pronouns are tricky things. Am “I” the observer or the observed, both or neither? I suppose this is the philosopher in me. I have been down this rabbit hole and found some answers, just not all of them… or else I would not be here. Don’t be afraid to find answers, because as we know, the Truth shall set you free!

Love and Light,

A Metaphysical Perspective

Though I have spoken of these before here are some metaphysical meanings which have changed the way I see the world. Condensed into one grouping, maybe they can help you too.

Jesus: Literally means “I am”, so when you see the word, Jesus, replace it with, I am, and see how that changes the meaning of what you are reading.

Lord: means “Law”, so replacing the statement, My Lord and Savior, would say My Law and Savior, taking this further, My Law is My Savior. My word is my gospel. It is telling us to be true to our word. I know this is a stretch, so if this does not work for you, then skip it. Still experiment with replacing the word Lord with Law and see how that sounds.

Sin: means “Missing the Mark”. Instead of feeling judgy when you use or hear the word Sin, know that they or you missed the mark. No worries, try again, with no guilt necessary.

Hope: means you can feel good about the situation. It does not mean things will work out. Hope is a false prophet. Think about this carefully and notice how you feel when you use this word. “I sure hope things work out”, really means “I have no idea things will work out, but I wish they would, and if they don’t I will at least feel OK in the mean time.” Hope is a way of avoiding the pain of life. Choosing faith instead will lead eventually to the highest and best good.

God: Everyone has their own understanding of this word and what it means, so find what works for you and stick with it.

Love: Another word for God and like that word must be made personal. Know how those around you understand it before using it. To say, I love you, can mean the world to someone or it can be meaningless. Frankly if I hear that said, I say of course, that is who we are! Other words I equate with God are Joy and Peace.

Christ: means “The Anointed One” or “Centered”. The meaning of ‘Jesus Christ’ then becomes, I am centered or the anointed one. So Jesus Christ is not some other person, it is a description of you! By proclaiming “Jesus Christ” it is a way of centering yourself. It literally brings your thoughts back to you. It centers you in reality!

Much of this is taught in Science of Mind or Centers for Spiritual Living. It is where I first learned it, though my understanding has deepened with the study of ACIM, A Course in Miracles. If you wish to know more I suggest researching further.

I’m Looking Forward To It

How do you cope with daily living? I mean the day to day, same o’, same ole routine. It can be a real drag. Humans require variety, some call it spice. For me, I create things to look forward to. Literally using the future to handle my present. We have all done it, planning a big vacation or even a weekend get away. The next big win for our “team” for the sports lovers or the next big project for the hobbyist and the next big job for builders and tinkerers. So what does all this actually get us?

It gets us to the next vaca, win, project, or big job. And actually it just allows us to occupy time. It gets us from one Now to the next. The cycle never ends. Even after you pass, the planning continues! I mean we have to have a funeral or at least a memorial or wake. In my family we call it a Celebration of Life. Our lives are event driven! So what happens if we drop the circumstance and forgo the planning? What if we skip the “looking forward” bit?

No worries, I have tried that too. It is fun at first, but then after a while it all just seems pointless. Probably because it is. We are distracting ourselves from ourselves. We desperately fear looking too deep at who we are. We fear God. It’s that simple. Most people think we fear sin or judgment, but that is just more distraction. Stop for a minute and notice how you feel, deep within. What does it mean to look within? Say you decided it was a good idea to look within and discover your own inner secrets, how would you go about that? Most people try meditation at some point on this road and it too works, for a while, till it doesn’t. This so far for me has been the story of my life. It works, till it doesn’t. Life is a wild goose chase! I have discovered that looking within is very difficult because our ego mind simply will not allow it. It knows there is nothing to see. It is like looking behind the curtain in the Wizard of Oz, a big let down.

Stop looking and you will find what you seek. No clicking of heals required. Know there is nothing to find, so just relax and enjoy the ride. Easier said than done, I grant you that, but possible. Stop with the distractions and relax. All is well.

Life is Black and White

Life is black and white, if it weren’t, this would not be a duality. We have up/down, hot/cold, here/there, male/female, and dead/alive. These in reality are all the same, just viewed from opposite positions. Like a coin. So if this is all true, then how come we see colors and shades of gray? I have often wondered this myself until I learned the ways of the ego mind. The ego is our separate self. The aspect of life which believes it is separate from everything else. It is our individuality. In reality there is no you and me, here and there, but our mind makes it so.

It is rare person who can see beyond the veil and I do NOT claim to be one of them. I do seem to have a gift of systems or wholeness vision. So while I cannot see pure non-dualism (perfect oneness) I know it as the truth. Maybe I have faith, though to me it is simply a knowing. Love is all there is. Using words like Love, God, or Faith is where we often go off the rails. Our dualistic ego minds just cannot go there. It is a whole other Universe and yet it’s not. Take dreaming as an example.

Our dreams often are of fantastic places which seem familiar but are not real. They are metaphorical, symbols, shapes, places, or happenings which represent our thoughts. Dreams are something we awaken from and then struggle to interpret. This in itself tells us they are of the ego. We have the dream world and the waking world all of which are illusions of the ego mind. Nothing to get upset about, literally nothing.

So where does color and shades of gray come from? The ego mind, simply put. Our separate minds have created our entire world! “All that we see or seem. Is but a dream within a dream.” (Edgar Allan Poe) Where do we go from here? A question I have been asking myself for several decades, LOL. The obvious answer is Forward and yet that is unhelpful. My answer has always been go with the heart. Now what does that mean?

It is not a felt emotion, but a knowing from beyond form. It is the center of things, so let’s get to the heart of the issue. We are constantly making choices in life and it all boils down to are we choosing ego or Spirit (the knowing from beyond). Some call it gut instinct and I have to chuckle at that since our guts are full of bacteria with separate lives all their own. I think what they really mean is listen to Holy Spirit, not the separate self. Pay no attention to that which is caught up in form, shape, and structure. The physical world is not the path to follow. Simply put and I love simple, follow the unspoken, unfelt, loving path! Since Love is all there is, it is not about feeling, being, or doing. It is about letting go of all you thought you knew.
