We are One

Being the Observer

The best advice I ever heard was to become the observer, to actually listen to what I say and observe my actions, then ask why.  Is this the person I desire to be?  This may be who I am now, but do I really wish to be this person?  Discovering who you are is a constant evolution, because you are constantly changing.  As you expand there is a give and take or an ebb and flow to the process.  The more you learn and discover about life in general and about how this relates to you the more you expand, the more you become more!

Think about this carefully.  Who am I?  Who are you in relation to who I am?  You do know this is all relative? Don’t you?  You do realize everything is connected in some way? Once you realize there is no separation; only the illusion of separation, your world changes for the better.  If this is still not apparent right now this is OK.  Keep asking questions and it will come to you.

On to some more practical applications and exercises you can use right now to facilitate your growth and expansion.  First of all open up.  Open your mind, open your heart, open your eyes and see, feel, and think with no limits (or at least let the limits go as you can, it is a process after all).  Listen to the words you use and notice how they make you feel, also notice how they make others feel, so if both of you are not feeling good then perhaps you could choose different words to express yourself.  In expressing yourself how does this affect the world around you?  Is it positive or negative, constructive or destructive?  Not to say this is good or bad, don’t fall for this trap.  Things are how they are, and you are the way you are, no good or bad to it, however you do have a choice in the matter.  Question everything, especially your motive for being the way you are.  Avoid judgment here.  Remember, we all desire Love, this is who we are and sometimes the loving thing to do is destructive or negative depending on the situation.  In order for the old to be replaced it must be destroyed first.  To build a new building the old one is removed to clear the way for the new one.  As humans we can only see a small fraction of the picture or situation so each choice we make is the best we can do given the information we have at the time.

Moving on, consider having a friend video you during an activity or perhaps you could set up a camera in your home to video the daily goings on, later reviewing the tape is incredibly insightful.  Be compassionate with yourself and seek only to understand who you are and decide if this is who you desire to be.  Recording your voice and word choice is also very insightful.  The language you use is very powerful or destructive depending on your word choice.  Curse words for instance are weak and destructive to the person using them, not necessarily to the one hearing them.  The person hearing these words can decide in advance to forgive the user and thus discharge any negative energy the words carry.  It is like Hate is a poison for the person hating, not the target of the hate.  Negative emotions are necessary at times, but must be used carefully to balance energy or to diffuse a situation, never for attacking.  Lashing out is a re-action not a deliberate action taken for a specific purpose.  Think before you act, wait a day and then respond.  Negative emotion can be transformed to the positive when you have this intention.

Another practice which is ingrained in the mass psyche is the use of the word “try or trying”.  To try is to fail.  The word implies doubt and this in itself is disempowering.  State your intentions and then proceed with them.  “Trying” is a word we use to protect our self from being “wrong or failing” and in the process it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.  Perhaps you can say I attempted XYZ but it did not work out that way.  I will make another attempt.  Or I will succeed eventually.  There is nothing wrong with failing; it always leads to success as long as you keep at it.  The error lies in the need to be right!

Remember to always question reality and your place in it, while being forgiving and loving to both yourself and others.  If you wish to learn more about word usage, I suggest doing your own research and testing your findings.  Learning is doing!  The website below as well as the free eBooks are another great source of musings.   Blessings on your Journey of Love ♥

Transition is a Quest

Transition is a quest, a hero’s journey!  Since we all face a transition of some type be it gender identity, death, relationship, addiction, or some other, this means we each are on our own personal hero’s journey.   Joseph Campbell describes this journey in great detail and Anthony Ubelhor summarizes it nicely in the following.

The Hero’s Journey Defined

A hero ventures forth from the world of common day into a region of supernatural wonder: fabulous forces are there encountered and a decisive victory is won: the hero comes back from this mysterious adventure with the power to bestow boons on his fellow man. —Joseph Campbell, The Hero With a Thousand Faces

Joseph Campbell described the hero’s journey as occurring in a cycle consisting of three phases: Departure, where the hero leaves his comfortable and familiar world and ventures into the darkness of the unknown; Initiation, where the hero is subjected to a series of tests in which he must prove his character; and Return, in which the hero brings the boon of his quest back for the benefit of his people.

The hero’s journey is about growth and passage. The journey requires a separation from the comfortable, known world, and an initiation into a new level of awareness, skill, and responsibility, and then a return home. Each stage of the journey must be passed successfully if the initiate is to become a hero. To turn back at any stage is to reject the need to grow and mature.

Characteristics of the Hero

According to Campbell, the hero is someone who has given his life over to someone or something bigger than himself. Even in novels and films, the hero is someone who has found or done something beyond the normal range of achievement and experience. The following characteristics are typically found in the heroes of mythology:

• The hero is usually male. According to Campbell, women typically represent creation and ultimate wisdom and therefore do not need to make a journey. If a woman does go on a quest, traditionally it is to find her prince or mate.

• The hero often times is of lowly birth, but may secretly have special powers or a high birthright he is unaware of.

• The hero’s parents are often dead, absent, or uncaring. A hero usually can’t begin a journey to become a man if his father figure is still present.

• A hero is judged by the things he does and the way he reacts and relates to people. His deeds must be marked by a nobility of purpose, and he must be willing to risk his life for his ideals.

The Call to Adventure

The potential hero may receive his Call in a variety similar ways:

• The town leaders may select the initiate and order him to face danger so that his village can be saved from an evil fate like disease or famine.

• Often the initiate is told to go on a quest by a god or “force” — this usually happens in a dream or a vision.”

• The initiate may go willingly or may be forced by circumstance to go on the quest. The

Call is a realization of an imbalance or injustice. The Call often comes when something has been taken away from the potential hero’s or family or society. Similarly, the initiate might begin a journey because of a mistake — something is lost and he must find it.

• The Call may be a sensation on the part of the hero that something is lacking in his or her life and that he or she must search for what is missing.

• Another type of Call comes when the hero realizes that society is being denied something, and he or she goes on a quest to win rights for the people. Sometimes it is nothing more than the need to save honor.”

Joseph Campbell, key excerpts from his book The Hero With a Thousand Faces (Princeton, New Jersey: Princeton UP, 1949)

How does your life mirror the Hero’s Journey?  Are you being brave and moving forward?  Be gentle with yourself, and know there is no time limit to this journey.  Eventually everyone succeeds!  The other thing to keep in mind is each success is one step on the stairway to heaven.

Pain is your Friend

Pain is your friend

Pain guides you and informs you of danger

All Pain is temporary

The system has a built in safety and if too much pain is received it will reboot so to speak.  The body/mind passes out and the system starts again.  No one ever died from pain.

Chronic pain is a malfunction of the system, so look for its source within and change your mind about this pain.  The mental or emotional body is most often the source.  Look here first.  Forgive the thought and replace it with one of health and vitality.

Working through chronic pain takes patience and courage.  Fear fuels pain so fear not, all pain is temporary.  Suffering is not necessary.  Stay positive and move forward by focusing on the Truth, you are healthy and perfect just as you were created.  Nothing is wrong with you.  See the perfection which has become hidden behind this pain.  It is just like turning a light on in a room, the darkness (pain) must leave.

Sacrifice is a dangerous tool, so only use it when you understand how it works.  Used improperly the pain will get out of control and become chronic.

Change can be painful, but does not have to be.  This pain is temporary as things change from one plateau/level/state to another.  No pain, no gain is a MYTH.  The Truth is gain is inevitable and the pain comes from forcing the change.  Resistance is futile.

As you grow your relationship with pain will deepen and you will know when to stop what you are doing and when to push through it.  Pain is a result of resistance so if you feel pain, ask yourself what you are resisting.  What change do you fear?  Many people fear being strong and powerful because they have seen the effect this can have on others.  Forgive the past and trust change to take you where you desire to be.  Be the Change!

Mastering the tools for living is just one reason we are born into a body, however it is an important one.  Pain is one of these tools.  Remember that tools are neutral and cannot harm you.  It is how you use the tool that can be dangerous and just like a hammer it can be used to create wonders or to tear them down.

Transitions Blog Review

Transitions blog began in the last few months of 2009 after I had begun my new life as the woman I know myself to be.  The goal of transitions blog is to assist/share the process of transition in its varying forms focusing mostly on gender transition.  As different as transitions can be they share similar process.  Speaking from experience and from years of research the over 450 blog posts lay out transition into several categories, Gender having 161 posts, Spirituality 394, and Transition 444.  What I would like to do now is further define the categories and provide a review to make the various posts easier to find.

Many of the blogs are reposted several times so this is a general overview.  Spirituality is a constant theme since we live spiritual lives!  Transition is a spiritual process first and then the physical manifests (thought-word-action).  So for instance the final transition occurs spiritually before the body ever passes.  Several of the blogs discuss Suicide, since the Transgender community deals with this more than any other human group.   My take is all death is suicide because we each decide when, where, and how we pass long before we are even born.  Not that you can’t choose again, many of us do, but death need not be a mystery.  We have both fate and choice!

Gender is really about identity and resides separate from sex and orientation so this is explained in several blogs.  It is such an important topic I wrote a book about it, Sex and Sexuality – One Womans Journey of Discovery.  This eBook is available free on my website.

Spiritual principle and the Universal Laws are discussed many times since I am a minister I feel knowing these principles are a major reason for our very being!   Did you know you have 6 senses of the mind (Feb. 4, Sept 2 – 14, 2010) as tools to use on your Journey of Love?

A Love Based Society is another favorite topic of mine which ended up being an eBook, please find your free copy on my website.  The Zeitgeist movement and resource based economy captured my attention before I even started this blog and this message just grew stronger.  I see our world existing this way and being the bases for the new Age of Aquarius for which we are laying the ground work right now.  We are literally creating a new world right now, so read on and share your vision with all who will listen.  A thousand years of peace in paradise is worth focusing on, and no worries it will manifest, only the timing is in question.

Of course there are a few other various topics, but mostly transitions blog is Spiritual, Gender, or Advance Society based.  I pray you benefit from reading Transitions Blog and you will share this blog with those who are important to you.  Questions and comments are welcomed.  Please recommend topics you would like to hear more about, because frankly I have shared my vision, the rest is up to you!  It is likely Transitions Blog will be posted less and less depending on reader interest.   I write these for the betterment of mankind or at least this is my story, and I am sticking to it… just joking, the fact is all you ever do is for You, since we are all One!  Oh, yes another favorite topic… Oneness!

Enlightenment…

This is a re-blog of an excerpt from  “A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose” by Eckhart Tolle.  May this touch you as deeply as it does me and may it stir your soul to ecstasy.

“An Excerpt from Chapter One
The Flowering of Human Consciousness

Earth, 114 million years ago, one morning just after sunrise: The first flower ever to appear on the planet opens up to receive the rays of the sun. Prior to this momentous event that heralds an evolutionary transformation in the life of plants, the planet had already been covered in vegetation for millions of years. The first flower probably did not survive for long, and flowers must have remained rare and isolated phenomena, since conditions were most likely not yet favorable for a widespread flowering to occur. One day, however, a critical threshold was reached, and suddenly there would have been an explosion of color and scent all over the planet—if a perceiving consciousness had been there to witness it.

Much later, those delicate and fragrant beings we call flowers would come to play an essential part in the evolution of consciousness of another species. Humans would increasingly be drawn to and fascinated by them. As the consciousness of human beings developed, flowers were most likely the first thing they came to value that had no utilitarian purpose for them, that is to say, was not linked in some way to survival. They provided inspiration to countless artists, poets, and mystics. Jesus tells us to contemplate the flowers and learn from them how to live. The Buddha is said to have given a “silent sermon” once during which he held up a flower and gazed at it. After a while, one of those present, a monk called Mahakasyapa, began to smile. He is said to have been the only one who had understood the sermon. According to legend, that smile (that is to say, realization) was handed down by twenty-eight successive masters and much later became the origin of Zen.

Seeing beauty in a flower could awaken humans, however briefly, to the beauty that is an essential part of their own innermost being, their true nature. The first recognition of beauty was one of the most significant events in the evolution of human consciousness. The feelings of joy and love are intrinsically connected to that recognition. Without our fully realizing it, flowers would become for us an expression in form of that which is most high, most sacred, and ultimately formless within ourselves. Flowers, more fleeting, more ethereal, and more delicate than the plants out of which they emerged, would become like messengers from another realm, like a bridge between the world of physical forms and the formless. They not only had a scent that was delicate and pleasing to humans, but also brought a fragrance from the realm of spirit. Using the word “enlightenment” in a wider sense than the conventionally accepted one, we could look upon flowers as the enlightenment of plants.

Any life-form in any realm—mineral, vegetable, animal, or human—can be said to undergo “enlightenment.” It is, however, an extremely rare occurrence since it is more than an evolutionary progression: It also implies a discontinuity in its development, a leap to an entirely different level of Being and, most important, a lessening of materiality.

What could be heavier and more impenetrable than a rock, the densest of all forms? And yet some rocks undergo a change in their molecular structure, turn into crystals, and so become transparent to the light. Some carbons, under inconceivable heat and pressure, turn into diamonds, and some heavy minerals into other precious stones. Most crawling reptilians, the most earthbound of all creatures, have remained unchanged for millions of years. Some, however, grew feathers and wings and turned into birds, thus defying the force of gravity that had held them for so long. They didn’t become better at crawling or walking, but transcended crawling and walking entirely. Since time immemorial, flowers, crystals, precious stones, and birds have held special significance for the human spirit. Like all life-forms, they are, of course, temporary manifestations of the underlying one Life, one Consciousness. Their special significance and the reason why humans feel such fascination for and affinity with them can be attributed to their ethereal quality.

Once there is a certain degree of Presence, of still and alert attention in human beings’ perceptions, they can sense the divine life essence, the one indwelling consciousness or spirit in every creature, every life-form, recognize it as one with their own essence and so love it as themselves. Until this happens, however, most humans see only the outer forms, unaware of the inner essence, just as they are unaware of their own essence and identify only with their own physical and psychological form.

In the case of a flower, a crystal, precious stone, or bird, however, even someone with little or no Presence can occasionally sense that there is more there than the mere physical existence of that form, without knowing that this is the reason why he or she is drawn toward it, feels an affinity with it. Because of its ethereal nature, its form obscures the indwelling spirit to a lesser degree than is the case with other life-forms. The exception to this are all newborn life-forms—babies, puppies, kittens, lambs, and so on. They are fragile, delicate, not yet firmly established in materiality. An innocence, a sweetness and beauty that are not of this world still shine through them. They delight even relatively insensitive humans.

So when you are alert and contemplate a flower, crystal, or bird without naming it mentally, it becomes a window for you into the formless. There is an inner opening, however slight, into the realm of spirit. This is why these three “en-lightened” life-forms have played such an important part in the evolution of human consciousness since ancient times; why, for example, the jewel in the lotus flower is a central symbol of Buddhism and a white bird, the dove, signifies the Holy Spirit in Christianity. They have been preparing the ground for a more profound shift in planetary consciousness that is destined to take place in the human species. This is the spiritual awakening that we are beginning to witness now.

Needless to say I recommend reading the book, however if all you read is this quote above then this is enough.  Please take a few minutes to meditate on this passage and let the significance really soak in.  It brings tears of joy to me every time I read it.

Trying is Failing

Trying is failing, so stop trying to do whatever it is you do.  JUST DO IT.  For example trying to walk up ten flights of stairs implies you don’t feel you can make it.  It implies doubt and where there is doubt there is failure.  You may very well walk all the way up, but it is just as likely you will not!  “I am walking up ten flights of stairs” not only uses the power of God (I am) but it is positive and committed.  This may still not be a guarantee but it has a far higher chance of success than trying does.

Stairs spiral

Consider revamping your vocabulary and see what changes happen in your life.  Trying is just one word which is self-defeatist.  There are many which could be reviewed to see whether they are effectively communicating your desires and intentions.  The list is long for most people these days so I will not attempt to make one here.  Just look for words which compromise your principles and undermine your intentions.  Speak positively and believe in yourself.  Simply by being conscious of the words you use life will improve.

More Life As A Race

Continuation from yesterday,

Sixth, Curiosity is the fuel which keeps us going.  Without it you will go nowhere!  My favorite character as a child is Curious George, the monkey in yellow.  If you have not seen these programs I suggest checking them out and even if you have revisit them from time to time.  The innocence of youth is a gift we need not loose.  Curiosity is a big part of this innocence.  Also do not equate innocence with ignorance; it is more accurate to say they are opposites!

Seventh, Go with the flow….  “Resistance is futile” (Star Trek).  “What you resist persists.” (Jung) What this means is to trust the flow of life and do what you must.  Blindly wandering the in dark is dangerous so it is important to find the flow (meaning) and go with it.  The truth of the matter is there is no meaning to life or more simply put, YOU are the meaning of life.  Your life, your creation!  No this does not contradict number 2, because God is all there is.  Your life is God expressing through you (flow).  This is also why nothing is either right or wrong, it is because it needs to be for the experience God is expressing though you.  The part which confuses us is Free Will.  You have both free will and destiny.  Life will unfold as it does and if you really need to experience something then you will eventually experience it.  Love and loss are examples we all seem to experience at some point in life, so learn to deal with them.  You can choose to avoid certain experiences such as fighting, but if “life” needs to experience it through you it will.  Resistance is what causes pain; the more resistance the more pain. Consider this when making your choices in life.

Eighth, Life itself is a relationship, but as humans we are most concerned with inter-relationships with loved ones.  Family is the first challenge we all face and then there is romance.  All I have mentioned prior applies here!  Just understand the world is a reflection of who you are and love is the answer.  While this is simple no one is saying it is easy.  Loving your family and close relations is like loving yourself!  Or it can be the opposite, so consider this carefully as you observe your relations.  Sometimes you will play the antagonist and sometimes the victim, follow the previous advice and all will work out.

Ninth, Take care of your body.  It is your vehicle for experiencing life and if you abuse it life will be cut short.  As we grow the adolescent years are the most challenging to the physical body, between puberty and all the adult challenges we face these years can be most difficult, but at the same time they can be the most rewarding.  You will test your limits and this is to be expected, just do so with caution.  Listen to your inner voice of reason.  This is the voice which is whispering, if you hear it loud and clear then do the opposite! (The ego is loud and demands to be heard, avoid this voice.  Instead get quiet and listen to the still small voice which is your Soul)

Lastly and in continuation of caring for your body understand that life responds to your thoughts about it, and not just your thoughts but those of the majority.  The majority of people believe eating healthy food makes you healthy, but I say having healthy thoughts makes you eat healthy food!  Your beliefs about what you do, including what you eat will determine the outcome.  It is literally possible to think yourself healthy!  Of course the best advice here is Ben Franklin’s saying, “All things in moderation”.  Alcohol is good for you in small doses, but if abused it will kill you.  Fried food on occasion is fine, but eating only fried food will slowly destroy your health.  Strive for balance, love your body, even or especially the peculiarities, and respect others choices to do the same.

Life As A Relay Race

Think of life as a relay race and you are nearing the end of the race.  What have you learned which is important to put in your baton?  Keeping it brief think of the top ten things you would make sure to pass along.  By thinking on this topic ahead of time, you will more fully appreciate your accomplishments and energize all of life.  The following is my baton….

Number one is to remember to breathe, consciously breathe, notice how the air fills your body and feel the energy as it invigorates each and every cell.  This process keeps you in the present moment and it is the secret to a healthy, happy life.

Secondly remember life is not about you.  Serving others is the greatest accomplishment any of us can make.  Giving is receiving!  Notice how you feel after helping a friend or giving a gift to a loved one.  Now you know what I speak of!

Third is to share your gifts (talents) by doing something you love.  Just making a living (working solely for money) is self-destructive!  Let your living make you or to say this another way, allow life to sustain you (Money is only one reward for your efforts).  Living is the rule not the exception.  The human body can go 30 days without food and up to a week without water.  Notice how life supports you and the experience just gets better and better!

Fourth, Feel your feelings!  Emotion is the fuel for manifestation (creating what you desire).  This is why fear is so powerful at attracting precisely what you do not want!  Is your desire at a passionate level?  Your desire for something must be greater than your fear of the opposite.  By facing the dark side (emotions) it clears these forces from your life.  It is as easy as turning a light on in a dark room.  Just realizing that you have your inner light to shine wherever you need it can make all the difference.  Shine your light Beloved!

Fifth, Question reality, always and all ways!  Things are often not what they seem, so do not judge.  It is not good or bad, it just is.  Accept this and life flows with ease.  My favorite quote on this topic is “All the worlds a stage and we are merely players” (Shakespeare).  Just because something is false does not mean it will go away and in fact it is the false things we must deal with first in order to find the truth.  Be willing to wade through the shit to reach the shore of truth.  The rewards are well worth it.

The next five will be in the following blog so stay tuned.

Learning Methods

We each have our own learning methods and depending on how long your journey has been thus far and how much you have focused on conscious learning you may or may not have advance learning abilities.

Our modern day society has labels for degrees of learning such as Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate degrees.  All journeys begin with one step, and there are no right or wrong paths.  Even a disjointed schizophrenic path will eventually lead home and/or sometimes taking a break is what is needed to recharge and ground in the journey.  So knowing this, are you aware of how you learn?

If you wish to discover your learning methods simply look at your habits.  Do you enjoy reading, watching TV Documentaries, playing games, or solving mysteries?  When surfing the internet do you prefer YouTube, News articles, or Social Media?  Noticing these things helps you get to know yourself better which in turn allows you to better meet your own needs and those of others.  If you are aware of your talents and preferences then you can better share yourself with the world.

I love to learn and share with others, most people do, however some hate these things and prefer instead to simply engage the world, to explore, and play.  It is all Good!  It serves you in some way which feeds the soul.  Curiosity has been a wonderful tool in my life and it can be developed to serve your needs, just as intuition can. (please see my previous blogs on the 6 senses of the mind)  Knowing your talents comes from testing yourself and simply sampling various activities, subjects, and/or theories.  Since I love to learn so much you would think I would make a great teacher.  This has not been my experience.  The reason I choose Adult Education is because I just don’t get the whole drill sergeant educational system, pedagogy.  So when it comes to facilitation I am right there and totally harmonize with andragogy (adult education).  If you don’t know these terms please look them up.  One habit which has served me well is looking things up that I don’t understand.  And now we have the Internet to make this easy and enjoyable.  Used to, a trip the library was required along with much time looking through reference books till the answer was found.  Here, test it out… what does “innocuous” mean?  How long did it take to look it up?  Took me less than 30 seconds.

Hopefully I have rattled your cage a little and sparked some inner curiosity to know yourself better.  It is my desire to inspire and encourage others to expand their knowledge and skills base – to basically expand their “beingness or state of being”.  Transitions Blog continues to explore the transition from one state of being to another and I thank you for joining with me on this journey!

Alternative Education

Alternative Education as defined by Wikipedia is: “… non-traditional education or educational alternative, includes a number of approaches to teaching and learning separate from what is offered by mainstream or traditional education.”  So today we will look at the options presently available for education in the USA.

As mentioned in the last blog the choices after High School seem limited and include Four Year College, Two Year College or Community College, Trade School or Technical School, Seminary, or small private schools specializing in a specific profession for example The School of Metaphysics.  The term alternative can apply to the methods of learning or to the specific topic of study such as metaphysics.

We focus on an aspect or trend in higher education which I totally embraced in getting my Masters in Education which is still considered as alternative although this is rapidly changing to mainstream.  I speak of online education.  It can take the traditional approach of teacher/student force feeding, directed, memorization or it can take the andragogical approach of facilitated learning, self-direction, and practical application.

How do you best learn?  Are you one who likes to read, watch video, use audio books, or actually get hands on?  Or is it some combination of all these?  Most people are a combination so I strive to offer this in my teachings, although I must admit I am not very good at producing audio or video.  Be this as it may, Podcasting, YouTube, and other online platforms have become largely popular because they engage the learner on a more personal and interactive way.  Frankly if you never have the opportunity to test or apply the principles you are learning then you will not remember them long term and may never fully understand them.

I discovered that a learning program which offers an internship or workshops where the principles are applied in person turn out to be the best.  It really does not matter what you are learning, be it mathematics, computers, art, writing, theology, etc., application is a must.  So how does one do this online?

It is simple really, the course requires projects to be completed and submitted online, for instance art is done and then photographed, and/or videoed and posted.   Something is created and then documented and submitted.  For group projects or activities requiring other students or facilitators local activities can be created or attended.  Skype and other programs are methods of group interaction.  There are exceptions to this, for instance if you are studying oceanography and live in the Midwest travel is required for the hands on portion, just as it would be in Space studies.  Simulations are good and they are definitely used, but at some point one has to actually do that which they are trained for.

All the major Universities and colleges now have online programs, but they use traditional methods for the most part so approach these with caution.  How expensive is the program and how much support do you get for the price?  Are you just buying a diploma?  How important is that piece of paper anyway?  I say it is less important than you think.  Most employers want someone with experience and most schools do not offer this.  Doing your own hands on research into the pathway of your higher education will naturally lead you to the right program.  Here is the recipe for answering this question…

  1. Look within – What excites you?  What do you find yourself returning to over and over?  What are you good at?
  2. Look around you – what are your family and friends doing and how do you feel about it?  What are they good at and have you learned from them?
  3. Now that you have a hypothesis put it to the test by volunteering or otherwise doing just what it is you love.
  4. Connect with others who are doing what you love.  Network through online groups and see what education is required to follow this path you have discovered.  If there is no path you will need to create one, so while this may be more involved it can also be very liberating since you do not have to follow someone else.
  5. Explore each path of higher education carefully.  Question their source and motivations as well as your own while paying attention to how you feel.  Remember fear can be a constructive tool used to warn of problems but not necessarily a message to avoid problems.  There will be challenges so you will probably fail several times before you find something that works well for you.
  6. In the movie, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, the stars use whatever means available to achieve their goal.  Each form of transportation only took them so far and then they had to find a new way to travel.  This is precisely as life is, your chosen career may only take you so far and then you will have to change.  Getting a sound and broad education is valuable but can also be a trap.  Many people, including myself, could go to college the rest of their lives and be happy.  At some point I must get out and engage the world.  Do what feels right but not necessarily what feels the most comfortable.

Is College The Right Choice?

A college education is the single most important thing a child can aspire to… FALSE!

College is the answer to your employment troubles….FALSE!

Education itself is a life-long endeavor…True!

Please understand I totally support the value of education and learning, it makes us human!  There is no way to live without learning and like most other things in this world there are different levels and applications for this learning.  Babies are learning even before they are born and we never stop growing one way or another.  The physical body is constantly replacing worn-out cells till the day you pass on.  The mind is learning and growing constantly (perhaps a few exceptions) and the Spirit is expanding along with the Universe!

This said; how important is College?  Be skeptical of the statics you hear surrounding what you get from a college or “higher” education center.  The bias runs deep and because we live in a capitalistic society money always figures into the equation.  So I suppose your individual goals and purpose will determine if it really is the path to choose.  The medical industrial complex is deeply entrenched in the educational systems of today, so if you desire to be a Doctor, Pharmacist, Nurse, etc., then yes, college is your best option, although there are alternative schools which teach alternative methods.  Most hospitals and clinics will not allow alternative methods so you will not find a job there.  The Insurance Empire will not support alternative methods, and neither does the government.  This is slowly changing, so there is hope; just weigh these things carefully when choosing a career.  The best schools teach specific skills for a particular job, it is a step beyond vocational training. It comes down to a choice to conform or not.

The real bottom line on college is the cost vs. return on investment.   The College Conspiracy movie does a nice job of explaining this, but I also suggest you research our debt based fiat money system asap.  Youtube has some great videos on the subject.  A few recommendations are: Crossroads: Labor Pains of a New Worldview , The Secret of Oz (by Mr Bill Still), Robots Will Steal Your Job, but That’s OK, Sacred Economics with Charles Eisenstein.

Always question the source, if the movie is made by someone who sells precious metals they are probably not objective in the “facts” they present.  The above movie about college is from the NIA, National Inflation Association who believe we are headed into a hyperinflation period, so this is their bias.  Everyone has some form of bias, even me!  So I encourage you to do your research first and hold off on getting a loan to attend college.

Speaking from experience, the Student Loan system as it exists today is a scam, plain and simple.  Those who excel in this world are those who pave a new path and fulfill a need.  The more people you touch (help), the more money you make.  It does not matter if your service/product is a positive or negative (creative or destructive) input to society, as far as making money goes.  Money is neutral and so responds to whatever forces attract it.  This means you must choose to be a positive contributing force in society if this is your desire.  If all you care about is making money, then most likely the force will be negative, because this falls in the “service to self” category (read Law of One for more on this).

This subject is way too big for one blog, so I will wrap this up for now and simply say, Do your research with a skeptical eye and an intuitive heart.  There are many opportunities today, vocational schools, trade school, two year college, four year college, and more.  Generally speaking the sooner you start work the more you will make over time.   Outside the box thinking is required to excel and those who start their own business are usually those who make the most money (however this is much less true today than 50yrs ago).   If you focus on contributing to society and follow your inner passion the path will appear before you, so be patient and persistent.

The Future of Education

Education is said to be the key to civilized man and if this is so why has our educational system gotten so badly outta balance?  Do you realize the true purpose to the educational system in the USA?  It is designed to create obedient, passive, and smart (but not too smart) factory workers!   Now that the age of factory work is gone in the USA it is high time to abandon the old system of teacher centered teaching and embrace learner centered learning!

The flaws in our educational system are fairly obvious so I will not get into the problems so much as stay focused on the evolution of education and the system we need to implement yesterday.  In the present system children are treated like cattle, herded into classrooms, force fed, and then expected to perform tricks (like remembering and understanding everything thrown at them on a test).  Testing has proven to be ineffective in teaching, but it remains to be the focus because it lends itself to mass ‘marketing’.  So what are we to do about our ailing educational system?

There are no shortages of ideas and many families are exploring these methods right now.  The large increase in homeschooling for instance is one method, but this system lacks socialization.  (More on Homeschooling)  With the expansion of the internet it is now possible to learn just about anything you need online, and many see this as the future of education, including myself.  The socialization issues are easily met by attending community activities, summer camps, and other classes.

The Waldorf school system’s “overarching goal is to develop free, morally responsible, and integrated individuals equipped with a high degree of social competence. Teachers generally use formative (qualitative) rather than summative (quantitative) assessment methods, particularly in the pre-adolescent years. The schools have a high degree of autonomy to decide how best to construct their curricula and govern themselves.” (Wikipedia.com)

Andragogy are teaching strategies developed for adult learners and based on a humanistic conception of self-directed and autonomous learners and teachers as facilitators of learning. (Wikipedia.com)  While this is best for adults, it is this authors opinion that it can be applied to children as young as 9yrs old, so the pediogogical approach of memorization and repetitive drills are good in the early years for learning language, math, and basic principles, but by the time the child reaches the teen years they should be ready for a broader more self-directed path to learning.

Montessori education is characterized by an emphasis on independence, freedom within limits and respect for a child’s natural psychological development and is used in over 7,000 schools worldwide. (Wikipedia.com)  The problem with this method is the lack of discipline.  Working and thriving in the world today requires discipline and unless the child also takes classes in say Martial Arts, Music, Dance, or Sports.  They will not be prepared for the demands of adult life.

This brings up my final point for today.  A balanced approach which works both sides of the brain and body will produce a balanced individual, so simply focusing on the intellectual aspects of learning, as our present system does creates an individual who is out of balance.  I hated gym, art class, music, and sports in elementary school but I was forced to take them and eventually I excelled in all but music.  I am so grateful for this opportunity to develop a “whole brain” and thus the reason we have teachers and parents to guide us. (Please focus on what you do have and not what you lacked)

Please look carefully at your educational path and your families.  If you are a parent take the time to really consider the impact of sending your child to a school which still uses the old system of testing and cattle prodding!  If you are a teenager thinking of college, please read the next blog which will focus on the higher education trap!  The future is for the bold and it will take courage to forge your own path, but ultimately it is the right choice for most.

The Gender Journey

What is Gender?  I know many of you have some idea but this blog invites you to take a closer look and to put gender into context of life here on planet Earth.   For a basic perspective on what gender is please visit The Gender Learning Center and review the first few pages, either the article or the Power Point Presentation.  Ok, now that we have some idea of what gender is, look closer to find both aspects of gender within yourself.

Each person is a complete and whole being, including aspects of both genders and often a combination of each in different proportions.  Accept that your physical sex is one aspect and your gender is another.  For a Transgender individual this will be different than for a cisgender person, and maybe even more important.  Before you can release something, you must first accept it for what it is and embrace this reality knowing it is only one aspect of you.   What you resist; persists.  So this is why it is so important to accept things as they are, while letting go of any expectations as to how life is going to work out.

Now allow yourself to flow to the expression of gender which feels the most natural.   There is no right or wrong way, only your way!  Others will either accept you or not as you have no control over this, however the people who are meant to be in your life will eventually come around and accept you.  Hold no attachment to who these people are supposed to be.

The next question for those who are Transgender or Transsexual is are you transitioning because it feels natural/good or are you changing because you hate the other aspect of who you are?  If you hate your body, this is resistance and it will persist.  Even after surgery if you hated your former self you will still see it in the mirror.  The change happens on the inside and is viewed on the outside, so doing your inner work of self-love is the most important aspect of transition whether you have surgery or not.

The real reason Transgender or Transsexual individual’s transition is for the experience of authenticity and self-expression.  Life on Earth is about Identity and getting to know who you are!  As I put it on my website, “We are all on a journey to discover who we are. In the process of thinking, saying, and doing, we see who we are NOT.  Along the way many personas emerge, and with each step you draw closer to who you really are.  In the end we discover there really is only one, and this is GOD.  The Journey never ends…”

I recently found a video which speaks directly to this journey (Ask Teal – Transgender and Transsexuality) so I share it with you now urging you to give it a “look see” and find the wisdom you need.  One reason I love Teal is she speaks from the heart and I see myself quite easily in her.  Her teachings align perfectly with mine, and it is so rewarding to find someone who understands life as I do.  Please share your perspective and if you have questions please comment on this blog.

Pride Cometh Before the Fall

This is a re-post from last year.  It is so important to understand the words and actions we immerse ourselves in.  So read over this blog with a critical eye focused on the inner self. Find the best and share this with the world!

The phrase “Pride cometh before a fall” probably came from the 1611, King James Version of the Bible, Book of Proverbs, 16:18.  Some versions say it this way, “Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”  Either way the point is fairly obvious.  A person who is extremely proud of his or her abilities will often suffer a setback or failure, because he or she tends to be overconfident and to make errors of judgment.

Have you ever thought of how Pride fits into your life?  If you are GLBTQ then you have probably attended a Pride festival of some type.  There is an interesting irony to this event, so I would like to share a few thoughts on Pride since June is rapidly approaching and Pride festivals will be taking place all over the USA and elsewhere.

Let’s look at this word a little closer, Pride [prahyd] noun, verb, prid·ed, prid·ing.

Noun ~

1. A high or inordinate opinion of one’s owns dignity, importance, merit, or superiority, whether as cherished in the mind or as displayed in bearing, conduct, etc.

2. The state or feeling of being proud.

3. A becoming or dignified sense of what is due to oneself or one’s position or character; self-respect; self-esteem.

4. Pleasure or satisfaction taken in something done by or belonging to oneself or believed to reflect credit upon oneself: civic pride.

5. Something that causes a person or persons to be proud: His art collection was the pride of the family.

If we again look even closer one word seems to jump out in the definition, Ego.  Look at the synonyms for Pride – conceit, self-esteem, egotism, vanity, vain glory, implies an unduly favorable idea of one’s own appearance, advantages, achievements, etc., and often applies to offensive characteristics. Pride is a lofty and often arrogant assumption of superiority in some respect: Pride must have a fall. Conceit implies an exaggerated estimate of one’s own abilities or attainments, together with pride: blinded by conceit. Self-esteem may imply an estimate of oneself that is higher than those held by others: a ridiculous self-esteem. Egotism implies an excessive pre-occupation with oneself or with one’s own concerns, usually but not always accompanied by pride or conceit: His egotism blinded him to others’ difficulties. Vanity implies self-admiration and an excessive desire to be admired by others: His vanity was easily flattered. Vain glory, somewhat literary, implies an inordinate and therefore empty or unjustified pride: puffed up by vain glory – boast.

The antonym is humility!  Jesus taught us to have a humble approach to life and not get caught up in our own achievements.  Life is about what you have to offer – what you give!  Pride has its uses and serves to balance life, but it is a trap so many of us fall prey to.  Celebrate your successes, feel good about yourself, know that you have great worth, and do it with humility, so you can avoid the fall!

HAPPY PRIDE MONTH

Spiritual Movies

It has been several weeks since I blogged.  Mostly because I took a holiday, but also because I didn’t have anything I have not already blogged about.  Today I read someone else’s blog on movies and was inspired to share an aspect of life which brings Joy to my life.  I love a good movie and if it has a positive uplifting message all the better.  I was struck by the list provided titled, “Movies With Truth or Consciousness”.   The list included many movies I have already seen, but also many which I deemed too dark or negative.  Truth and Consciousness is such a relative and individual concept.  So at the risk of totally missing our Truth and Consciousness I will share mine.

All movies have an important message for you or you would not have been presented with the opportunity to experience it.  You have a choice!  Sometimes negative stories provide an insight which is valuable without you actually having to experience it directly.  Perhaps this is why movies about death, murder, war, violence etc. are so popular.  The option of seeing it on the big screen vs. in your own personal life is quite attractive.  Of course there is no reason you must know of these things either, unless you say there is!

The following movies I have personally seen and found value in relation to my Spiritual Journey of Discovery, the purpose being to expand my own personal understanding and conception of consciousness.  The list is incomplete!  But then the journey never ends either.

First let us start with a movie service called “Spiritual Cinema Circle”.  There are plenty of spiritual movies of inspiration and motivation being made – movies with thought-provoking, uplifting stories – but they almost never make their way to your local theater.  Spiritual Cinema Circle monthly DVD club gives these unique spiritual movies a “theater”… right in your own home.

GaiamTV.com also is a service which you subscribe to and offers many of the movies I will list here today.  For those seeking lasting change in their life’s path and identity, Gaiam TV is the world’s largest source of transformational media. Their exclusive videos go beyond the boundaries of mainstream media to reveal new and enlightening perspectives to help you thrive in our changing world.

This list of movies comes in no particular order and has links to more info:

The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions – Gives a great representation of exactly what we are to the Elite of the world –batteries. We fuel their entire matrix and designed system. Perhaps even more profound is how this film reveals what it is like to awaken and step out of The Matrix into the real world. Only the mind’s stories and your ego are what limit you.

Avatar – A film involving consciousness and how we are all connected as one to each other, the planet, and the animal kingdom.

Cloud Atlas – An exploration of how the actions of individual lives impact one another in the past, present, and future, as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero, and an act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution.

Life of Pi – Life of Pi, according to Yann Martel, can be summarized in three statements- “Life is a story… You can choose your story… A story with God is the better story.” A reoccurring theme throughout the novel seems to be believability. Pi at the end of the book asks the two investigators “If you stumble about believability, what are you living for?”  According to Gordon Houser there are two main themes of the book: “that all life is interdependent, and that we live and breathe via belief.” (wikipedia.org)

What Dreams May Come – Sheds light on the fact that we can sometimes create what appears as a periodic afterlife for ourselves based on what we believed while living. We remain in this afterlife until we figure out how to move beyond it and reincarnate again.

Defending Your Life – A comical view of life and death, with a wonderful love story to boot!

Astral City: A Spiritual Journey (Nosso Lar) – The life of the doctor André Luiz in the spiritual city of Nosso Lar. In Portuguese with English subtitles.

K-Pax – The Story is presented in two perspectives and gives the viewer the choice of which is “true”.  It also offers some wonderful insight into extraterrestrial technology and society i.e. other ways of living.

Celestine Prophecy – A spiritual method of living by example.

Conversations with God – We all talk to God every day, are you listening?

Peaceful Warrior – Eastern teachings brought to life!

La Belle Vert (The Green Beautiful) – Shows the interconnectedness we all share, and how far off the human experience on earth has drifted from that. Focuses on the simplicity and peace that inherently comes from a planet based on love and oneness. French with English subtitles.

Mr. Destiny – A comedic and light-hearted film that introduces the idea of timelines, ultimately showing that as unpleasant as one’s current reality may seem, it is always that which is best for soul growth and experience.

Ambition to Meaning – This is a film made by Dr. Wayne Dyer and is based on some of his books. It is a great depiction of 3 different stories that all intertwine with one another. This film is geared towards spreading the message of shifting ones consciousness to create a new and more expanded life. All his materials are uplifting.

You Can Heal Your Life – Louise Hay offers a fresh perspective on healing and healthy living thru the story of a young ladies life.

Waking Life – Are dreams as real as reality? The film looks at dreams and how they can be as real and full of growth as “real life” is.

The Thirteenth Floor – Question Reality movie

The Truman Show – Question Reality movie

Yes Man – The power of YES!  What if you said Yes to everything?

The Game – Perhaps life is a Game?  This movie explores the possibility indirectly.

Battle for Terra – Great message about Humanity and Heroism.

A Wrinkle in Time – Maturation story with wonderful insights on time and the nature of reality.

The Five People You Meet in Heaven – Your experience in Heaven is based on your beliefs.  The message is specific for you, so mistakes are not possible.

Dinotopia – Life is a journey and this story makes it fun and fanciful!

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy – A comical view of life which questions reality.

Baraka & Samsara – A collection of expertly photographed scenes of human life and religion, directed by Ron Fricke

Spirituality is found everywhere you look so be aware of the Spiritual aspects as you go through your life and you will find guidance everywhere!  Please share your favorite Spiritual Movies or movies in which you found Divine Guidance and we can grow together.

Label Me Please

“Label me, define me, nail me down with cold words and

that box will be your coffin, for I do not know who I am” — Rumi

Using labels to define existence provides us with a tangible experience.  Boxing something or someone’s identity allows the observer to have a personal idea of not only what that item or person is, but more importantly to know their self!  Rumi has it right in that we are all that is, but in order to fully experience this earthly life one has to be in a box or all is nothing!

Try this wonderful exercise and see how it feels to you.  Choose a random moment, pause, look around and say to yourself – “I am That”… “I am”.  You could be looking at a beggar on the street, a flower in your yard, or the computer you sit in front of right now.  Experience what it feels like to “Be” that item or person.  Take your time and let it sink in.

How does it feel?  Did you have a transcendent experience?  I know I often experience a feeling of connection to everything in the Universe during that exercise, but sometimes I don’t feel a thing.  It depends on what I put into it!  Taking my time and relaxing into the process is key.  A fun place to do this exercise is somewhere you don’t normally go or particularly like being.  It stretches the mind and broadens the senses to a point of acceptance, depending on how much you resist the feelings of course.

Where do you find yourself feeling awkward or uneasy?  Prisons, Churches, Gay Bars, Tall Buildings, at sea on a small boat, a room full of animals, sitting in your cubicle, _______ fill in the blank?  The feedback you receive is insight to your make up and conditioning, but does it really tell you who you are?  Now try the exercise in reverse, where do you find yourself feeling safe, welcome, and at home?  Your own living space, sitting at your desk, in the arms of your lover, with family, with friends, in a forest, all by yourself, _________ fill in the blank?

Now think back to a tranquil picture you remember seeing, does the feeling you get seeing the picture compare to actually being there?  For instance, seeing a picture of Yosemite National Park compare to actually being there?  Do you expect it to?  The idea is for the picture to remind you of past experiences.  If you have never had the experience then the photo can inspire you to visit the place or have the experience.  Fantasy pictures are more about invoking an emotional response sense going there is not an option.   What does “Be a Unicorn” mean to you?  If you see a pretty picture of a Unicorn can you image being the Unicorn?  Are you in the Unicorn box?  Do you see the purpose boxes provide?

Without a box or identity how can you experience anything in particular?  I find being in a box (labeled identity) helps me more fully experience life, whatever that life is at the time.  When I was living as a man the box allowed me to more fully embrace the experience of being a man.  Now that I live as a woman whether I label it as transwoman or not I have a clearer idea of who I am.  I live based on my own ideas of what a woman is, while also feeling my way through the experience.  The clothing, behavior, and thought process is very natural and takes little effort on my part.

I have sat in a field and put myself in Tree box, imagining myself to be a tree, feeling the sun, sinking my roots deep into the earth, and feeling the connection to all the animals, insects, and other plants!   It is a cleansing experience, one that humbles me, and reminds me how important each living thing is in this world.  Without the box though, this would not be possible.

On a side note labels are simply a tool, and can be used to separate you from other things and people.  If you go around saying I am not that, or that is a tree and I am not a tree, then the feeling of separation takes over – the feeling of fear sets in.   Connection is a feeling of Love and perhaps this is the purpose of the whole exercise!  To feel Love!  Have fun on your Journey of Love.

Feel It

Why does a person do what they do?  I know the question of why can often lead down a circumferential path but let’s just give it a go, for fun.  Why do you drink coffee every morning, or walk in the shadows on a hot day?  Given the choice of going to a familiar restaurant and eating food you have had many times and enjoyed or going to a new place serving unfamiliar food, which would you choose?

The answer is going to vary a lot by each person and reflects the person’s character.  On a deeper level though the choices you make determine your experience of life and in turn influence future decisions.  Often life is based on an experience from your past, so in effect the past becomes your future!  This can be a very dangerous and limiting habit.  What if instead you made your decisions based on the joy offered?  By listening to your inner voice and letting your soul guide you the experience changes for the better.  This is a practice of faith and demonstrates a belief in a benevolent world.

What if you drink coffee for the flavor experience and the pleasure it brings you and if it wakes you up then all the better?  How about staying in the shade to protect your skin and stay cool?  The other motivation might be fear of dying of cancer or getting sunburned.  Fear is a dreadful feeling and poor for your health.  The fear itself is the problem not the sun or coffee or any ‘thing’ outside you.  How you think about things makes a difference in your experience of it.  Thoughts are things, how you use them determines the outcome.

The ultimate reward for all you do is the experience or feeling gained.  Giving feels good, thus it is a good thing to do.  Swimming in clean clear warm water feels good, thus it is a good thing to do.  Not all experience is going to feel good, but this does not mean the outcome will not be good.  This is where listening to your inner voice, the soft quiet one, is your best guidance.  The feeling good part is often another person’s experience as a result of your actions.  It feels good to be a part of making another person feel good, even if it hurts in the short term.  An example would be jumping into cold water to save a person’s life or running into a burning building to save someone.

As obvious as all this may seem, how often do you think about the feeling you experience when making a choice?  How often do you think of other people’s feelings when you make a choice?  Do the thing which feels right to you and consider others in the decision.  This is what is called a win-win.

Slight of Mind Revisited

The actions you take are necessary as proof to yourself that it is not only possible but reality.  The concept of reality is not as fixed as one would believe and because of this we are constantly testing reality.  If it happens then it must be true is the mentality we use.

Have you ever been to a magic show?  Is that reality?  Does the rabbit really disappear from the hat? Of course it does, the question is where does it go?  If reality was fixed could we even believe a trick like this?  Don’t we have to know there is a possibility of the rabbit actually disappearing to make this trick work?  Deep down we all know that this 3d world is an illusion.

A trigger is required for us to believe a certain event.  Let’s take surgery for instance.  Say a large benign tumor exists, can be seen on x-ray and with a large bulge in the skin.  We wish this tumor to be gone.  How do we make it go away?  We go to a surgeon and he cuts it out.  Why don’t we go to the magician to make it disappear?  Belief, personal experience and precedent!

We need matching action of a believable nature to create the result we seek.  The movies use this technique all the time.  Two scenes are shot at different times and spliced together to give the appearance they happened in sequence. (Called Matching Action)  It is a trick for the mind!  In fact movies are all about tricks, they are actually a series of still images shown very quickly ~16 frames per second (sometimes faster up to 32 FPS) and appear to be moving…appear to be real.

Surgery is the matching action, like in the movies, which allows the mind to perceive a miracle cure!  When in reality it is done at a level beyond the mind.  Reality exists beyond the mind and the mind is our lens to this world.  Without the ego mind this world does not exist!  This is why the mind needs proof, i.e. surgery to experience the healing.  The Spirit does not need this trick, because it operates at the level of reality and knows there is no tumor at all.  There never was, because in reality we are perfect beings of light/energy made in the image of God/Universal Intelligence/Great Spirit.

The magic trick diverts the attention while the appearance is manipulated, but in reality the rabbit does not even exist so anything that is done is perfectly believable.  Now that we have this information, do we still need surgery to remove a tumor?  Or make a rabbit disappear?  This depends on your level of belief and faith in reality!

🙂 Sequoia Elisabeth

Unity in Gender Diversity

Ps. Apply this to SRS/GRS and ask yourself if you really need surgery to believe who you are?  In the Spirit world there is no gender… perhaps this is what you desire.

Faithful Living

What is it to live without faith?  Could you be living a faithful life without even knowing it?  I believe most people are living in faith whether they consciously choose to or not.  Over 90% of people believe in a higher power according to a recent Gallup poll so this easily translates to faithful living.

So just what is Faith?  According to Dictionary.com it means:

1. confidence or trust in a person or thing: faith in another’s ability.

2. belief that is not based on proof: He had faith that the hypothesis would be substantiated by fact.

3. belief in God or in the doctrines or teachings of religion: the firm faith of the Pilgrims.

4. belief in anything, as a code of ethics, standards of merit, etc.: to be of the same faith with someone concerning honesty.

5. a system of religious belief: the Christian faith; the Jewish faith.

Number 3 means over 90% of the people have Faith!  Number 4 is really general and would apply to ~99% of people as we all believe in something! (Atheism and Science are beliefs)  So the proof is mounting, but then number 2 indicates we need no proof to have faith.  Whatever you believe is true!  For those who have been around a while having confidence or trust in another person is bound to have occurred at some point in your life and if you are a Spiritual person it is most likely a daily practice.  The religious belief category is the only one which may not apply to the majority of people, although most have been there at one point or another in their lives.  So you can see Faith is a part of everyone’s life.

Making it a conscious part of your life simply takes the commitment to be aware of your practices.  Practicing faith consciously is something we can all do easily.  First of all look within to find your beliefs, principles, and morals.  As you define them just be observant of your life – your words, behavior, and thoughts.  How are they aligned with these beliefs?  The more conscious you become the easier it is to align with the Faith you already have.  Practice makes perfect is applicable here, however as your journey continues this becomes perfection is always present, now and forever.  Faith is instinctual to one who has chosen it.  Perfection resides in all people, places, things -the journey makes this perfectly clear!

Do you have Intrinsic Value?

Intrinsic value, do you in and of yourself have value?  To whom?  Why?  This is our topic today because I am sure you have asked these questions before.  I know I have, and I am still working on a viable answer.  This question is also essential to a Natural Law/Resource Based Economy/Love Based Society.

A quick review of today’s society shows that value is based on what something or someone brings to the table.  How big the bank account is coupled with the amount of credit a person has denotes a person’s value in our present Capitalistic system.  There is much more to value than economics however.  Think about this carefully, because you may not be aware of the purpose certain people play in your life.  This exercise falls into the category of gratitude.  For instance the bus driver is there to get you where you are going but also to guide you or possibly share companionship.  Those who ride the same bus every day at the same time get to know the bus driver and the value of that relationship grows.  A person who is always smiling and laughing is of value to all whom they are around.  Someone who dresses nicely, feels good about themself, and radiates this energy everywhere they go is of value to society.  It matters not how much money they have in their pocket!

Have you thought of anyone with no intrinsic value yet?  How about the villain?  Make your choice carefully, because they are plentiful in our society.  I think you know without a villain there are no heroes.  Ok, so how about a homeless person?  Do they have any value?  What purpose do they serve?

The purpose we all serve is to our Higher Self/ Soul.  We are here for a purpose and the purpose itself has value to you if to no one else.  What makes a person homeless?  No home right!  It is of course a lot deeper than that.  The person is homeless because they have made choices that lead to their present situation.  It could be they lost a job, or are too unstable in mind to hold a job, or they simply do not wish to play the human game, which brings up another topic – jobs.

Does a person need a job to have worth/value?  Do they have to “contribute to society in monetary form” to have worth/value?  Do they have value just for being themselves?  What if you did nothing, would you still have value, or to state it another way, do you have intrinsic value?  Does a person in a vegetative state or coma have value?  The answer is blowing in the wind…life is a balance and needs both those in need and those to help.  It just depends on which role you decide to play. (This choice is usually made unconsciously or as some would say, it is made by a higher power)  Are you a hero or a villain; charity case or welfare worker?  It really matters not, because we all have intrinsic value or else we would not be here!  We are all a part of the story.

No matter what you do or don’t do, you have value to yourself at least, but probably to others you have no idea even exist.  Life is not hard although we often make it that way.  Be nice to yourself today and see the beauty in your existence!  “a Love Based Society” knows the value of each and every person while making sure they know it too!

“Value is not intrinsic; it is not in things. It is within us; it is the way in which man reacts to the conditions of his environment.” — Ludwig von Mises, Austrian economist  Meaning value is not in things, but in people!  YOU!
